Kate's old camera ...

I'm not sure who I was talking to about Kate's camera - the one she hated? One thought it was a Kodak, I thought it was a Canon ...

It was neither. It was a Fuji Finepix. LOL

No wonder she hated it. That's what I hae and I hate it too!!!!!!!

It was the nicer model and the delay is ridiculous! I have been hoping mine would get accidently dropped or something. How can I get a cameral company to give me a new one? :confused3 (I mean, with out having to have 6 kids at one time and all)

The camera company didn't give her a new one, it was a Christmas present from Jon. In the episode she got it, he talked about trying out all the cameras to see how easy the were to use and how fast, etc.

The American Girl episode was on this morning, and they zoomed into the brand on the camera. It was definitely a Finepix. I was very surprised, too. LOL.

The newer episodes prove that they are in full blown damage control mode. J&K are suddenly much calmer, they are letting the kids get messy, the kids aren't shown using the bathroom, they are making donations, they mention the grandparents. It seems fake. Somone is reading what their critics have to say and each thing is being addressed. It's good, but I wonder how sincere it is. In my heart I hope that maybe their eyes have been opened and they are making a true effort to change. I hope this is sincere.

I truly hope they soon realize that this isn't worth it and pull the cameras out of their home. I hope they can mend fences and put their extended family back together, outside of the prying eyes of the public. I sincerely wish them the best.

I totally disagree. I don't feel at all it had anything to do with damage control. It just amazes me how that hate site uses that as an excuse when they have nothing else to complain about regarding the show. If you truly watch the older episodes Kate was just as calm and no different than in this episode. She didn't all of the sudden change for this show. And they aren't being shown using the bathroom because they are older and its improper. They made the donation because they were back to the place where it all started, and if she hadn't done anything it would have been another thing people would have blaster her about. So she cant win either way. It was also great in the hopes that people might see this and decide that they too, should donate. She mentioned the grandparents because at the time, that was who was watching and taking care of the older children. I for one was so happy to hear them mention with fondness the family. Maybe that will spark up some type of conversation between the families. And since lately the discussion has been a hate fest regarding Mady, I will say that she is entitled to privacy and no one should be commenting on a child.

Again, it always seems that all we hear is "ohh its time to pull the plug" that's all that that hate site ever says and repeats over and over. I know that this is helping secure a comfortable future for those kids, so that when the cameras do leave and people go onto the next topic, they are secure. I hope that they continue as long as they see fit, as I for one love watching the kids and the show. :cheer2:

That said, there were many touching moments in this most recent episode. You can clearly see that the stress of everything is getting to Kate. Her crying while remembering a more simple time shows me that she is feeling the stress of life in a fishbowl. I felt bad for her, you can see it on her face. I hate to see anyone sad :sad1: They have gained a lot but I think they have lost a lot, too. Maybe too much.

I truly hope they soon realize that this isn't worth it and pull the cameras out of their home. I hope they can mend fences and put their extended family back together, outside of the prying eyes of the public. I sincerely wish them the best.

I agree there seemed to be a drastic change. It looked like damage control to me, but I say good for her. Maybe it's for the right reasons, not due to negative publicity or ratings worries. Everyone has the right to self improvement. She and Jon both looked like the summer had taken a toll on them. She looked weepy, tired, and like a real mom.

I didn't like the way the donation was handled with Kate pulling out an unwritten check and discussing the donation to the camera. I would have much rather heard in a news blurb from the local Ronald McDonald House that the family had provided a generous donation after it had taken place.

The kids are just cuter everytime I see them. They are beautiful children.

 How do you know it was an unwritten check? How do you know they didn't fill it out before they got there? And if they had a news blurb I'm sure the haters would have picked that apart as a publicity stunt. They really can't win. :sad2:

I agree. I was looking at the GWoP site this morning and those people over there are awful. They picked apart every little detail and everything was negative.

I don't understand the hate sites. :confused3 I can't stand Brett Michael's Rock of Love show. I think it's awful and those girls are skanks and he is a dirty old man, so I don't watch it. I don't go to websites devoted to it, so I can bad mouth the show. I just DON'T WATCH IT.

I can't imagine watching J&K just to find nasty things to say about it, that's just bizarre.

Rock of Love and the one with Flava Flav are all about how they can find the skankiest girls willing to sell themselves on TV.:rotfl: I can't stand either one of those shows...Flav's voice gets on my nerves. YAH BOOOOOOIII!:lmao: :happytv:

You can say that again - they just can't win! It really is unbelievable how some people just want to pick apart anything this family does. Is it any wonder that those of us who simply enjoy the show are so quick to come to their defense?

And, I didn't get the impression it was an unwritten check. I thought it was written out and she just folded it up and gave to someone. And - she didn't "turn" to the camera either - she was just lookinng for someone to give it to.

I agree! I am astounded by the amount of time that some people put into disliking this family. just don't watch the show people!

I happen to like it... I suppose if i put a lot of time, thought, and research into it- I could come up with problems that I have with the family, but I have my own life to lead! This family has no immediate impact on me or my life, so who cares?

wow. just... wow!

I agree, J & K were in a no-win situation-people will criticize them if they donate in front of a camera, but if they didn't show that, then people would criticize them for not donating. I am actually glad they showed the donation. I will say though, that it looked like Kate took out her checkbook still in its checkbook case and was going to write it out on the spot. To me it didn't look like it was prewritten. I really don't think that should matter at all, though! :confused3

Could have written that down before you even posted!!

People (not you specifically, the general complainers), complained that they never gave back (at least not that was broadcast/publicized), were too high strung, etc., etc., etc. Now you complain that it seems fake.

What can they do? If they donated behind the scenes, no one would know and people would continue to complain. The cameras caught their donation, and it's fake (the sentiment, not the check)? C'mon, people!!

Hehe!! Same post, pretty much, same time.

I am curious how much the Gosselins make from the show. I wonder if they are paid per episode. The reason I wonder is because I would hope they are putting money away for the kids' future. I know they have eight kids, but surely by now they have earned enough to invest for each kid's college fund and fully fund their educations?
Although it doesn't seem the parents are working anymore, so I understand they need to use the funds for their day to day expenses. :confused3 Plus the talk of buying an expensive home. I guess I am just curious! :)

oh my...I was just reading a comment on the GWoP site about the difference in how Jon woke up Alexis and Hannah. This person said that Jon lovingly rubbed Hannah's back to wake her up and basically yelled down the stairs to wake up Alexis. Well, I just rewatched it and he woke them up the same. Maybe I was watching a difference show than the GWoP person was watching? :confused3

I thought it was funny because when he was walking out of Hannah's room when she wouldn't get up he said, "we're leaving, get whatever you want out of the pantry!!" :rotfl:

Some people have a real issue about Alexis sleeping downstairs. I'm sure they thought long and hard about it, and it seems to be working for their family so I don't understand the issue? Oh yeah...it's something to complain about!! ;)

I thought the Alexis wake-up was really cute, actually!! I'll do the same thing to DS when he doesn't want to get up for school.

"OK, I'm going to go play with Matthew, you can stay here...bye!!" And up he gets!

From what I've read on other sites, they make about $70k an episode (and they've done 60+ episodes). They probably haven't made $70k/episode since the beginning... but they do now.

Also, they get paid $25k plus all travel expenses for speaking engagements.
And there are other perks, like free trips, car seats, clothes, etc
