PrincessPiglet --

I can't find your post about Cocoa Castle, but I recall you saying that other familes weren't allowed to use the park while they were taping, and that you could see people in the background huddled together glaring (or words to that effect, my apologies if I misinterpreted them.)

I rewatched the episode last night, and as far as I could tell, there were lots of other families around. You could tell who wasn't the Gosselins by the fact that they weren't wearing red or striped shirts (and that's not to say that all the kids in red shirts were the Gosselins.) There were even other kids on the swings when Jon was pushing the two kids.

What did I miss?

As a back to school resolution, I think I'm going to start putting the word "organic" in front of everything I feed my kids, so others will think I'm a better mother. As in, "Have you tried those organic Hot Pockets?"

here's the link to the regulations of the National Organic Program, for anyone that might be interested:

http://ecfr.gpoaccess.gov/cgi/t/tex...m;rgn=div5;view=text;idno=7;node=7:3.1.1.9.31

It's long and technical. I'm not up for the challenge of reading it ... but I'd love to hear a report from someone who does ;)

Thanks for the link. I couldn't find a list of prohibited ingredients on the USDA site.
Don't have time to dig around and find the sections/subsections now but your link seems to outline things very well.

If nothing else ... I'm a very good googler ;)

I think Twinkies could be labeled "Made with organic ingredients" according to this page. It doesn't even mention pesticides, just radiation, sewage, etc. I'm hoping most food I eat doesn't come in contact with sewage anyway.

Three ingredients would be the sugar, the flour and baking soda.

The flour/wheat and sugar/sugarcane would both have to be grown organically and the twinkies couldn't contain any ingredeints on the prohibited list. The prohibited list would rule out just about everything else that is in a twinkie because they are lab/chemical based and not natural.

I truly love this thread. I have laughed out loud so many times while reading the last 10 pages (and I really need to get off this computer!!). I'm also very excited to learn that Target has Organic milk. Cool! I'm off to get some today!

I agree that always mentioning that this or that is organic is very annoying. I know a few people who eat organic and they dont feel the need to make sure I know that everytime

Archer Farms .. it's on Price Cut, too ;)

I'm watching an episode I haven't seen before ... Jon & Kate are working on their will. Kate specifies that a family member & close friends will get the children if something were to happen to them. I would think it is safe to assume, knowing what we've seen and read ... that Kate was referring to Kevin & Jodi and Beth & Bob. I wonder if that's still the case, in light of recent events.

I think Kate seems very different in this episode - they've gone to California for a speaking engagement. I like the Kate in this episode, mostly. She seemed to be happy to see things she hadn't seen, enjoyed being with her girls, etc. She was practically giddy when she saw the big trees on the drive.

They appeared very grateful for the trip.

I haven't seen them behave in this way for many, many episodes. I can definitely see why people were drawn to this show from the very beginning.

maybe someone who is knowledgable about organics can explain something to me i've always wondered about-

we used to live smack in the middle of one of the regions that provided 'organic' products to stores, restaurants and manufacturers. the organic fields were situated next to non organic fields so when the crop dusters would spray the pesticides there was a natural 'drift' and the organic crops were exposed as well. the ground water that fed all of the fields came from wells and irrigation that while they were separate from each other were all exposed and prone to the same environmental factors (the crop dusting, weed spraying the county did on adjacent roads, a few instances of county wide pest spraying). how then is truely organic produce achieved-is it strictly done in an artificial environment (hot house)? absent of that while i can see that it might be possible to minimize a plant's exposure to some artificial factors it would seem impossible to entirely achieve it.

what do you know ... the grocery shopping episode is on where she's focused feeding them organic and healthy.. how ironic!

Kate does NOTHING for the house, or kids.
She has nannies, house cleaners, chef, gardener and laundry service.
Jenny is not only one of the nannies, but also Kates personal assistant.
Kate sleeps till 8:00am. By then Jon has gotten everyone up, dressed and fed.
Jon, bathes them and puts them in bed at night.
Kate Gosselin does absolutely nothing!
She gets paid to act like she plays with her kids on film.
Have you ever noticed that the kids never cry for her or put their arms up for her? They scream when Jon leaves. Cause Jon is the one that actually plays with them.

:scratchin I think I figured it out...Are you Jon? Are you rebelling from Kate because you have to do all the work and it's making you mad? It's okay to be mad.

I hope you're right, that would be hi-larious! I like that cotton candy. I think it is inside stuff! Even though there are varying opinions, we can all agree (I think) Kate is nuttier than squirrel poo and the kids have got to be embarrassed of the episodes being shown. The sextuplets are going to be mortified when they are a little older.

Not sure if I agree with your statement; but it's ok if that's what you think!;)

:lmao:

Hey! There is a picture at the bottom of my screen that is Kate when the kids get icecream or gum on their clothes! It's the ad for Halloween Horror Nights...:rotfl2:

Now, this is fascinating ... all of the archived pages of Jon & Kate's website:

http://web.archive.org/web/*/http://sixgosselins.com

a couple of side notes: the first TV appearance was the Martha Stewart Show in October 2005, then Dr. Phil in April 2007. The first special aired in May 2006, and the show on TLC began in April 2007.

I have a question ... it came to me as I was looking at some of these archived pages. And it isn't a JK8 specific issue, I just happened to think of it as I was reading the constant prayer requests on their website for financial assistance.

Why is it that some people who have multiples or large families think that it's ok to create websites suggesting (subtly or blatantly, as the case may be) ways for people to help them? There are many families - some on TV, some not - that do this. I don't understand it. It's a financial hardship to have a family of any size. It's a sacrifice. Families are created every day, yet most don't have websites with a heading "how you can help" and ways to donate goods, services, or money. Maybe I'm missing the boat here, maybe I should have a website for my family of 3 - I've got a child in college, maybe people would like to donate to his tuition fund, or the fund of my other two children? I mean, I wasn't expecting to become pregnant with baby #3.... I'd only planned on having two children... it would be nice for someone else to pick up the tab for the unexpected expenses we've incurred with baby #3 ... :rotfl:
