I haven't seen it, but, again, how is it different than a preschool teacher or home daycare provider?
I'm confused what you mean by this. I'm taking it as, "Big deal, she has 8 kids, so what?" but maybe I'm misreading.
At any rate, preschool teachers/daycare providers send children home at the end of the day. There is an actual end to the day. You generally get weekends off. Most teachers/daycare providers get vacation and sick days.
Even if you love your job, you still have the knowledge that you can move on to something else if circumstances change or you decide you can't deal with 8 kids anymore. A parent does not.
As a teacher/daycare provider if you have a "problem" child, the ultimate responsiblity for fixing the "problem" lies with the parent, not you. If a child is a big enough problem they can get kicked out of the school/daycare. You don't have that choice as a parent.
As a teacher/daycare provider you are not held responsible for the rest of a child's future. Yes, you can help shape their morals, values, etc but when a kid is 18 and has some sort of issues, no one is pointing at the teacher/daycare provider the kid had when he/she was 4.
I think the biggest difference is, no matter how caring the teacher/daycare provider, that person will never have the same emotional investment in a child as their parents.
