The dark/ethnic gene is usually more dominant in kids. Not always, but usually

We are good friends with a caucasian (blonde hair blue eyed) and African American (med-dark as far as AA complextions go)couple.
The DS looks more 1/2 asian 1/2 caucasian than anything to me. the DD, you wouldn't know there was a white gene in her body except that her hair naturally looks like she's had a mild relaxer put in it. I want her hair, it is so beautiful. After seeing the kids aunt, I see where the DS gets his looks from.
You'ld never know that she (the aunt)and her brother (the father of the kids) are related LOL.

Well, here in CT, I teach preschool and I have 10 kids to myself.....but like many have said, I can send them home at the end of the day!! I love both Kate and Jon, I think they are a riot and do a great job not only as parents but as a couple and a team.

My very blonde hair/blue eyed uncle and Spanish aunt produced 2 kids that look just like mom, and 1 that looks just like dad.

I love Kate and her family. And anyone who critizes her parenting should spend just one day in her shoes.

The only thing that really, really bugs me is when she said her kids won't always have everything and they sacrifice other things so they can eat organic.

They do have everything! From what I can see, they live in a massive house with a huge yard . A house, that I will never own in my life. They have 2 cars. They go on tons of trips. Their kids receive free haircuts. She got a free tummy tuck. Her kids get tons of other freebies like Gap clothes and the Petal Rose cottage.
I really don't see any sacrifice.:confused3 ?

Oh please, she should be loving that people are critizing her and wanting to see what she'll do next. Without that there's no revenue and no show. I can't imagine how they'd survive without this show and the income it brings in for them.

That being said, all of us love this show. We spent New Years eve at home watching the marathon. DH and I figure it'll last until the little ones start school. I sure hope they're being smart with the income and banking it away.

BTW, they don't live in a massive house. It's actually pretty small especially for such a large family. They take day trips but don't really do much more than the average family if you don't include the speaking engagements. Also, what middle class suburban family doesn't have 2 cars?

The kids are all very cute. One of the little girls has much lighter hair than the others but I don't know who it is. I think you can see Kate a little in the shape of their eyes and their complexion but that's about it.

I enjoyed this week shows. I only have one that is 20 months and there are days I have a tough time dealing. I can only imagine 6 of them.

I liked that they showed Kate in a nicer way and Jon being the grump. Maybe now people will give her a break.

I watched the episode where they went to the chocolate theme park w/o John and the birthday party for the six. All I can say is wow. Wow on all levels. First of all is her (Kate) being loud. She yells, alot. John seems to be her target since she can't attack the kids verbally too. You can definately tells whose the dominant one in the relationship. I'm sure he does his fair share, but more quietly.

I have my own drama at home and at work, but had to see a slice of what the hoopla was about this family.

I can see the chocolate theme park as an attention grabber for the show too. They have awfully nice perks for being a t.v. documented family.

Last comment- craziness, madness.... wait I have my own soap opera going on at home.

I should've known not to jump into a thread

The section they went to was free. It's a ride that tells the history of the chocolate factory and dumps you in the gift shop. ;)

I was just gonna say that. We go to Hershey, PA all the time and Hershey Park is around $60 a person, but Hershey's Chocolate World is next door and is free :thumbsup2

That's wonderful, you can't describe every detail in an hour show.

Actually, they do have some nice perks. I am guessing they would not have been offered a tram and a tour guide for their trip to the zoo unless they were "celebrities." And look at the publicity the zoo got. Win-win for everyone.

During their trip to WDW, they got a private meeting with the princesses.

It's a trade-off - publicity and ridicule for the perks and the income from the show and speaking engagements. For them it is worth it.

I had not heard of Chocolate World before seeing that episode. Hershey Park yes, but not CW.

My search feature isn't working, and I had to go page by page to find this thread ;) Anyway, did anyone watch the new episodes last night? I missed part of the first one. Madi is really something at times, eh? :scared1:

I only saw the second half, too!

He he he. I saw both episodes. I enjoyed kates comment on Mady "She's going to a fine teenager....." What a crappy way to say 'thanks' for all the brithday decorations. I think she just has some issues with feeling not quite as special as the rest. Though I am afraid I would have just left her in her room all night if she came in kicking like that.

Who ever found this post, thank you. I was on page 8 and gave up.

Anyone, I am a Kate Fan, but after last night I don't know. Jon disciplined Collin or Joel, and Kate actually told the little guy to ignore daddy, he is being a grump. Jon also commented that he disciplined one of the boys for hitting one of the girls with a banana ag gymboree, and Kate told him, she don't disciplin at gymboree. Wow, talk about mixed messages these kids are getting.

If a parents disciplins a child, the other parent should not "undisciplin" the situation and make the other parent out to be bad. As I said, I always liked Kate, but that situation wasn't right.

Do they have a backyard? Everytime I see them outside playing they are in the garage/driveway. :confused3 I just find it odd to always play in the driveway. I can understand if they want to ride their ride on toys.

They've shown the kids playing in the back yard before.

I totally agree. I couldn't believe she took him out of time out and told him not to let "Daddy ruin his day".

I told DH I would NEVER do that to him if he puts our kid in time out.
