I hope those nannies don't have high turnover and they really love those kids. It's all they have that is constant.

They do have their mom. I get that a few days a week if that, and phone calls (and maybe skype) aren't everything, but she is a constant. She hasn't left them for weeks, and she is very much in their lives.

It seems like Carrie Ann just did not like Kate. Every opportunity she got she emphasized how she was "different" from the others, and she implied that she was not a "real" celebrity. It was also like she was implying that the others had other talents where Kate was only a housewife. That is the message I got from her, anyway.

Well, that's pretty much true. It's not like she's any type of performer or athlete. She is just a a mom who chose go on TV because of her big family - no talent needed there.

Trainwreck, car wreck....same deal. Those are horrible events, but I cannot help but looking to assess the damage.

I, too, will look. But I won't stop my car and get out and take photos and call the hospitals hoping they'll give me the conditions of the survivors. I feel like I've gone beyond "normal" when it comes to my interest in Kate. I'm not obsessed or anything, but my level of interest is certainly abnormal FOR ME.

The only strong opinions I have of Kate are hoping she keeps her kids off of tv and wishing she would stop lying about trying to stay in the spotlight "for the kids." I'm fine with her being on tv or trying to stay rich and famous. I can't imagine downsizing to whatever she could afford on a nursing salary after Jon's huge support payments run out (y'know, assuming he doesn't make it big on his own when his TLC contract is up...)

I don't like Kate because on the shows she treated Jon like my mom treats my dad. My brothers and I were also "posessions" used for Mom's competition with her sisters and friends. If my mom could have somehow used us kids as a springboard to her own glory, I don't doubt she would have. And she definitely would have seen nothing wrong with that! I suppose that under similar circumstances I can see my mom going from boring housewife to trainwreck superstar, so that is probably why I follow Kate so closely. What will she do next? Phew! My childhood could have been sooooooo much worse, lol.

Yeah, that would be INSANE I'm disgusted with myself for following Kate at all (in the media, I mean.) I'm definitely not planning the next family vacation around her! My car wreck example was hyperbolic, but I do sort of feel like I'm going above and beyond "normal" (looking at the crash and reading about it the next day) to actively seeking out information. I have never in my life cared a hoot about shoes. My interest in Kate is as weird to me as if I suddenly went out and spent $$$$ on new shoes.

I don't think she'd been back in PA since Easter. She was in NYC and LA for the book tour, with time accounted for .. I don't remember her being home. She might have. I've been paying attention, but not really stalking her every move

They were with her last week, and Easter was the week before, so I don't understand your question if you are saying it was weeks since she saw them, and we really don't know when she is with them anyway. We know when she is live on shows, but not time in between. DWTS was something she was doing for work, as the book will be. They also have a father that that spend time with. And I have no idea how much time she is spending in NYC.

Did she fly the redeye? And if she did, does it matter? I bet they would have been tired no matter what, getting to the airprot a couple hours in advance, all those hours in the air and the time change. I bet for the kids, the trip was worth it. I hope they had a lot of fun.

Doesn't matter what she does, there will always be someone (general someone) who isn't happy with it and will say she didn't do it the way they feel it should be done. Some were upset she 'dragged' the kids to CA. Some were upset she only spent a day in Disney, some were upset she didn't bring the kids on the show and we all know some would have been upset if she did. Redeye, early fllight, late flight, I don't see the difference. Perhaps she couldn't fly the day before during the day, and she had to be in NY the day she flew in. Who knows the reasons she makes the arrangements she makes .

I'm guessing they can't do the custody hearing b/c from what I remember, it required Jon and Kate to take parenting classes and specified that the kids would speak to a counselor. None of them can let that happen, especially TLC. I bet TLC threw a whole bunch of money at Jon, so crisis averted.

Why couldn't they let the kids speak to a conselor? I thought they already were (or had) after the separation. Other than the issues any divorced child has, do you think the kids are unhappy? Or that they would say something bad about their parents?

Yes. (and no I do not think they have seen a counselor)

TLC has a lot to fear, I believe.

Seriously, though. Any papers his attorney filed on his behalf must have had his signature. It is required. Did he not read the complaint before he signed it? As List appeared on Nancy Grace discussing his case, and he did not complain, why complain now? He must have given List permission to speak to the media.

Honest to goodness, nothing either of these two losers do will surprise me anymore. My best guess is that Jon has been paid off. With money, increased visitation, lower child support, a co-host position ? Just a guess. Strange that his attorney did not know. Also totally unethical for any parties involved to contact Jon unless through his attorney. But we do all know that Jon is challenged in the self-preservation, if not the IQ department, don't we?

ITA. The kids on TV, the kids as possessions, and her treatment of Jon on screen are the reason some of us are here. If it makes you feel any better, a lot of others are wondering why we are so interested in the trainwreck too.

My car radio is permanently tuned to NPR Boston. I took a short drive today, and some of the commentators were just crying with laughter at Kate (sorry, can't tell you the exact show, I was in the car too short a time.) Did she really say on Regis and Kelly that she "sacrificed herself" on DWTS in going home?

It is reported that Kate had not seen the kids from the 3rd (she saw them in PA and hunted eggs) to the 17th (they were flown to CA) of April. That is 2 weeks (from goodbye to hello). She had been gone from home from 4/3 (when she left home) until yesterday (when she returned home for an hour or so). That's a long time. Doesn't make her bad or evil, but Kate is not around the kids or at home a lot compared to "normal" moms. I think she's gone alot even compared to actual celebrity parents. Her travel is extensive and varied. A housewife she is not! Kelly Ripa sees her kids about 355 days a year she said a while back. She and/or Mark eat breakfast with them, take them to school, pick them up from school, eat dinner with them and put them to bed. Because she chooses to. Not better, just different. Life is full of choices.
Someone earlier said although Kate is not "a great mom" that is somehow okay because they don't know many of those. I know lots of great moms. Moms who sacrifice their time, money, dreams all to provide for their kids. Not material stuff but morals, stability, educations, opportunities, spirtual foundations, experiences and most of all a deep rooted, lasting relationships. I thought it was normal, but I guess I am lucky to be in such good company.

I thought that report was when Kate was not in PA (I thought she was home on the 3rd and left in the evening..isn't that when pictures were taken?). And that is 'reported' on sites where people try to keep track of her. We didn't even know the kids were in CA, so we may not always know if Kate comes home for a day. One person reported that the kids spent 5-7 days in CA (no one seems to be sure just how long it was). That would mean that she was not away from them for weeks..it could have been as little as 9 days. Is that a long time? Yes, but my kids went away to summer camp starting in first grade (bad mother that I am and not normal, I loved it..they survived and haven't had to go for phsych (sp?)help..even managed to rasied kids themselves with no one blaming me for my unnormal behavior LOL) and I was away from them for longer. It's not the end of the world. They do have a father, and I know he was there on Easter, and I hope he was there longer. I doubt that the kids are away from both parents for weeks.

I would not have a clue, since Kate is the only celeb I know who seems to be so stalked. I doubt there are many who could live up to the scrutiny she lives with. Normal mom or celeb. You never really know what goes on behind closed doors even in 'normal' households.

I doubt both parents are away for weeks, because they take pictures with their father at the house and then their mother. They are stalked and followed...they don't get away with much. There is a calendar that someone is keeping, I guess just for the purpose of people knowing when she is in PA. That is some stalking! Do I assume they are right, or can I assume they may not know everything?

I assume she calls them daily, because Kate said she did. No one has ever said differently, not even Jon when he's mad at her.

I doubt that many can live up to the scrutiny, and that is just my opinion, and opinions abound on this thread. I guess I can change that to read, I couldn't live up to the scrutiny that Kate does. But then, I was never a perfect mother (although my grands say I'm a perfect grandma!). Does anyone else know any other celebrity that does have this kind of scrutiny? I won't assume there is none, but I'd be curious if someone knows one..other than Britney. She had a lot of it herself, but I still don't think as much as Kate.

There has been tons of assuming and doubting on both sides. And when someone says something on either side, there is often someone there to assume otherwise.
