Why was the famous lawyer, Gloria Allred at the hearing? I saw her sitting behind Kate's brother.
She gave testimony -- expert testimony -- at the hearing. I presume she was invited by the State Senator who convened the hearing

in the interviews, both filmed and published and in the blog that Jodi's sister--who could do nothing about anything!!!!--nothing was ever mentioned that they tried ot handle anything privately.
They are full of their ego and nothing more.
I saw Kate on Joyce Bahr's show and Kate getting interviewed by Billy on Access Hollywood. Both of them, were really kind to Kate. Especially Joyce. The interview with Joyce was done by satellite. Kate wasn't in her studio. She did ask Kate if tv doesn't work out, what would she do. Kate told her, she would go back to nursing, and the only way she could really support the kids would be to do 12 hour shifts, 6 days a week. Then she said, most of her pay would then be taken, to pay the babysitters for 8 kids. Kate said, this is why she is trying to stay in the tv industry, because it pays a lot more, than nursing right now.
So, at least she was honest with that answer. She also said, she would be gone those many hours working as a nurse, and right now, she is gone with DWTS, but she says, it is her job right now and it pays better and she can afford the babysitters. I was surprised that Joyce didn't say anything about Jon staying with the kids. Joyce did ask her about the custody agreement, and Kate said, in the beginning the arrangement was fine, but now it is going to get ugly, and she was saddened by that.
She said, to support her family she would have to work 'Uhhh, no! No nurse would ever work six 12 hour days a week. That would be an 'untruth'. Did they mention the 20,000 a month she gets from Jon?

I think she is right..to bring in enough money for her brood, she would have to work long hours. Since that would be almost impossible, then she's prob better off doing the TV work while she can.
My daughter is a nurse earning great money, but it wouldn't go far with 9 people, and a sitter to pay for. There are nurses who grab all the overtime they can, because they do need the money.
We all know that Kate is 'performing' for Kate. But I do believe that doing this now and holding onto her money (we really seldom see anything that says Kate is squandering the money) is smart. Who knows when her 15 minutes are up, and she will have to downsize and go back to nursing. I think the kids will see her a lot less when that happens. I also have doubts that once Jon's money put aside runs out, that she will see much in the way of support. I hope she is saving all she can for now.
And maybe in her heart she is home baking cookies. The other day on the Today show, Kate said "in her heart she's at home in her kitchen baking cookies" this is her response to being asked about being away from her kids while doing DWTS.
They know now, unless she erased the part of the tape where she mentioned it, before they watched the show. And even if she hasn't told them, I'd guess they know. Kate sometimes lives in a dream world, where she thinks her kids are well protected from the media. On ET last night Mary Hart (right after showing the clip of her and Tony discussing the custody issues) confirmed that the kids watch her on DWTS and asked her if they know about the custody problems and she answered "I shelter them from all of that"
It's been reported that Kevin and Jodi recieved $30,000 for their tell all. They did not deny it in one of the interviews. On Joy Behar she mentioned that Kevin and Jodi made a lot of money off of them with their concerns and allegations but yet it appears that Jon/Kate and the network were in the wrong with all the taping, finances etc...

Ok, what about the 20,000 a month from Jon? I know no one likes to mention that b/c it takes away from 'poor me' and makes Jon look better. And if he wasn't paying it, she would be on the Today show crying about it.
I don't think it's possible for the kids to see her less.

Where did we learn that? I only learned that they didn't have a trust set up. My kids had plenty of savings without a trust. There are lots of ways to save for your kids college without a regular trust including college funds.Kate claimed money was set aside and we learned yesterday that it hadn't been .. so who knows?
I don't think right now she is poor. I always get the impression that she is planning for the future. She was on the Today show after Jon took money out of the account. It worked going on and complaining, because she got it back LOL.
Everyone knows about the $20,000. It's mentioned a lot. It's in the papers he filed. Yes, it's possible he's giving that now, but when the money they put aside for that is gone (as he's now saying it will soon be and he'll be broke) that will be a thing of the past. I hope she is banking as much of that support as she can.
I agree that we don't see her squandering money.... because she gets so many freebies?
Who pays for her hair extensions, clothing and bodyguard? What about vacations? Do the kids really go to private school? Who actually pays for the childcare? I think there's a lot more to their financial situation that is unclear.
I am of the belief that where there's a will, there's a way. In the current economic downturn, I believe most families would agree that certain extravagances need to be re-evaluated. Why is she above doing the same? I think she is making a mockery of her fans who so dutifully vote for her on DWTS and buy her books.

Yes, she is getting support from Jon..Madge, do you think that will last, once the money they put aside for that is gone?
You are right, Kate does not HAVE to be on TV at this time to support her children. But I'm thinking her 15 minutes will soon turn to dust, and I hope she is banking what she is earning now.
As for not seeing the kids much..nope, she isn't, while she is away on DWTS, and prob once she does the book signings (if anyone buys it). Looks like she is running about 50% away..I do hope Jon is with them a good chunk of that time, and that her time with them will be more once her life settles.
When she went on the Today show last year after Jon took money out of the account, she said she had bills in her pocketbook that needed to be sent out but she couldn't because there was no money. I personally believed that to have been a joke because she and Jon after all the money that was made could not have been down to just $200K in the bank and if that is the case then that means that they have no mortgage left on the house. It was reported that they made over $2 Million from the show alone so I think she did that entire interview for sympathy.
