Jon and Kate Plus 8 Official Thread - Part 8

I didn't see the miraculous change the judges seemed to this week. I thought she was very wooden and flat on her feet. They moved way to slow and the technique was VERY watered down. What I see is him doing everything he can to teach her and Kate using her personal problems as an excuse. I get that she has no training at all and it is going to take more for her to learn, but she really seems to be resistant and making excuses. It is not so much that she is having a hard time that i have pbjection to, it is the fact that she is making excuses for dong poorly. She did it again tonight by bringing in the custody thing. I have worked with first time adult students, and it is hard to get them to a point of a natural rhythm and musicality, but that is not the issue at all here, as I see it. She is having control issues and making it very hard for him to teach her.

I saw a difference--but if you notice, her average score was 16 and her last week's score was 15. There was noticable difference, but it doesn't translate inotmuch of a scoring change.

I've always found her to be very wooden. She was still stiff as a board during this dance. I find it funny that she is making excuses. But we are seeing what DWTS shows us. Heck, she is now being presented as quite controversial, and they would lack continuity if they didn't toss in what makes her so controversial.

These video pieces are staged.

I thought Niecy was much better than Kate, but here scores were very similar, weren't they.

You are absolutely right. They stage most of the show, and I think this weeks show was engineered to keep Kate another week. Neicy should have scored higher, and i think Kate should have scored a lttle lower. I asos think that Erin's scores should have been a good bit higher. They are engineering drama here, plain and simple, but that doesn't change the fact that Kate would learn a lot more if she just let go and let herself be taught.

She looked so much better. Her expressions were "normal", she danced a little, and smiled a lot. Good for her. Tony is something else.
He is a miracle worker. It was nice to see her seem to enjoy it more. I wonder how much footage they shoot, to pick what they are going to show from.
For Kate, the scores were good.

In the papers Jon's lawyer filed it stated Kate received payments tied directly to Jon not being paid by any person, company etc. The link is few pages back.
Are you talking about TLC's agreement with the two of them, that they need to have permission from TLC to do any outside entertainment work? I guess Kate must have gotten that. It's good advertisement for the shows that will be coming out.

I mean it stated Kate got extra specific payments based on the fact that Jon was not paid for any work other than TLC. This is recent since the divorce or settlement.

How nice for the kids to have the custody issues brought up and the dis to Jon about not letting him 'win'.

I don't understand what you mean?
What stated that Kate got extra payments? Who was giving her extra payments? Why would someone give Kate extra payments because Jon was not paid for any work other than TLC? I'm lost.

I think the visits while they are practicing are staged. I didn't think the scoring was. That's just plain old subjective, to what teh judges see. That could have some very serious issues for DWTS, after the quiz show scandels of the 50's if this was 'fixed' for scores. I don't think they would take a chance on 'fixing' this show.

Kate is still terrible, but I must say, when Bruno was saying what an improvement this week was, Kate's smile was one of the most genuine happy smiles I have seen on her in a long, long time. Which makes me think she really is trying. I can't help but feel bad for her, she looks just like I would if I were in her place. I have NO sense of rhythm and cannot dance to save my life. I'm un-teachable too.

I just finished reading the excerpt of her new book and my reaction is about the same as when I watch her on DWTS, she has no redeeming qualities at all.

The part about the doctors was horrible for me. It's not like she had the tups first, I mean she already had twins and certainly realized the likelihood that when one gets sick the others will too. I just can't believe she admitted right there is black and white that 5 out of 6 of the tups had been coughing for nearly a week and yet she only took one of them to the doctor after it being a struggle to even get that one in to the doctor, to only go back again the next day with another child. She complained that the healthcare providers didn't work with her considering her situation of having so many children and not being "normal"! I don't know about all of you but my friends and I all checked into/asked about different pediatricians and found the office that worked best for each of our families. I also can't imagine that there was no way to contact a doctor after hours, that's ridiculous.

I was thinking that with the book having letters to her kids that it would be more light-hearted and have anecdotes that made them a different family from everyone. To me it comes across as pity me and my not normal family and YOU HAVE NO IDEA what it was like for us crap...

I did not do the drinking game because I am at work and good thing, I don't think I could have kept up even with water.... ;)

Where did you read this part about the doctor??TIA!!:thumbsup2:thumbsup2

A couple of pages back in this thread there was a link to the publisher's site where they released a dozen or so pages from her new book.

Sometimes we don't all have much choices when it comes to whom we choose for physicians. If a doc refuses to see 5 at once (and I don't know of any ped who does where I live), you are caught between a rock and a hard place.

Depending on the cough--it wouldn't necessarily be an emergency.

I don't doubt that she encountered difficulties with her PCP for her kids, but I am not surprised that it is being spun as her fault.

My son's current pediatrician was only my choice b/c I made the decision to go with her. But when my DH left his job, my son was only 5 months old. I went through the entire list of pediatricians and found only 1 that would take my infant son that "old". Everyone else would only take much older children OR newborns. But they all refused to take my 5 month old.

It is kind of one of those, "there for the the grace of God go I" moments (or whatever that phrase is).

Kate is simply bashable. But if it was one of your friends who had trouble with a doc--sympathy would be felt, lest one is so cold hearted as to judge a friend. But since it is Kate--too bad so sad, her problem, right?

And yes--from growing up and even some difficulties that I have heard my friends have with certain practices, I don't doubt that she genuinely had difficulty. Years ago, there was a very popular ped's office here that had such limited slots for sick child/urgent care--many complaints I have heard. They have of coursed fixed it. But another thing--at the time your child is sick, well...if you are having trouble with your established doc and wish to go and try someone else, your child is now a new patient and will NOT get seen right away.

If she had difficulties--there is no joy in criticizing her for it. It isn't like she lives in a major metropolitan area. She lives in a smallish town and if I have noticed these problems in my own community, it isn't unlikely that she experienced them in hers.

Of course again--it's all Kate's fault b/c she is Kate and no "good" mother would EVER allow that to happen.

So much to criticize Kate for--and this is what you choose?

Wow it is impressive to me the fact that there are so many people who will go to such great lengths to defend this woman.

The point of my post is that she shocked me with her indifference that when one is sick they all would get sick and we are talking about 2 of her kids being diagnosed with pneumonia! It was there for all to read that she only decided to bring one to the doctor after nearly a week of coughing and she's a nurse! I would think it would be better to nip it in the bud before it gets that bad but that's just me.

My mother's a nurse and you would be surprised at how many times we went to the doctor after waiting. She's felt bones weren't broken so she would wait until the next morning before going to the doctor. She found it easier than dealing with the ER. And as she was an ER nurse, it was all the more confusing. Go figure. :confused3 There's that old expression "The cobbler's sons go without shoes."

I am no fan of Kate. But in this case I agree. If I took my 3 kids to the Dr every time they coughed or had a sniffle, I would be there practically everyday.

I am very fortunate, I have heard many complain about their peds office and getting in when sick. My office has a policy, that if your child is sick, he will be seen. Also if your kiddo has been diagnosed with something like step, the Dr will either write a script for all kiddos just in case, or tell you to call her and she will phone one in.

I can't imagine having to take all 8 kids in just because one is sick, or having to find a baby sitter, especially during the week, that would be difficult. This is one area where I do feel for Kate.

We're not talking about a simple cough or sneeze, she specified that 5 out of the 6 were coughing for almost a week, I agree that running to a pediatrician for every illness is not the best use of time (mom's or the doctors) but the scenario rubbed me the wrong way. For someone who continually preaches that she does "everything" for her children and so on I would have thought that she would have left this story out of the book. I really think she left it in there to gain more sympathy from people about how no one (the doctors and their staff) worked with her and her large, unusual family and she expected them to.

Could be, I wasn't there to hear the coughs. And also, I have never believed that everything Kate does is for her kids. She is way to addicted to the limelight and stardom. The stuff she is doing will support the kids, but I guarantee you that if by some miracle she found a job making what she makes now, but it was behind the scenes and no body knew who she was, she wouldn't take it. No glory in that, no one would see her.

What stated that Kate got extra payments? Who was giving her extra payments? Why would someone give Kate extra payments because Jon was not paid for any work other than TLC? I'm lost.

It's in the court papers that were published. TLC is paying Kate to help keep Jon unemployed. Why? Who knows. It's there in black and white, but I'm too lazy to find the link; it's a few pages back.

I agree with you. We saw that the kids illnesses/injuries were an inconvenience to her when she told Cara that she didn't have time for her to have the broken foot (or whatever it was) and the nanny took her to the ER instead of mom.

I'm criticizing Kate b/c of her whiny 'poor me' attitude (in EVERY sense of the word poor), her book "The Airing of Grievances" apparently detailing how each child made her life harder, and how she incessantly complains about how difficult life in the spotlight is for HER, while NEVER alluding to the fact her kids might be having a hard time as well. She's too busy selling them to notice.
