Jon and Kate Plus 8 Official Thread - Part 8

Thanks..so Kate prob tried for it once, and that was that, and she has to live with it being repeated over and over. I'm sure she isn't the only person who felt that she wanted as much help for her kids as she could get. And prob not the first person trying to get something she really wasn't supposed to have.

I don't remember if it was extended, because that was way before the show and the money started to come in.

in that Kate tried for it once, she went as far as going to court to try to keep the nurse. And while she may not be the only person out there who has tried to keep their nurse, I'd say it's safe to say that she's one of few who (at that time) had pretty much round the clock help with her children. And her children were healthy.

it wasn't a very wise choice of words, and unfortunately for Kate...they will always come back to haunt her.

Since the kids were healthy, I assume it was not extended? I did think someone had said somewhere on this thread (a couple thread ago) that her argument was that the kids did very well in her opinion (Kate's ) because they had nursing care? I really don't remember much about it. I know in our area you would get a nurse visiting you as long as the doctor ok's it (my daughter is such a nurse), but once the doc says it's not needed, that's the end of it getting paid for. It's more often for premies and is more often only daily for a certain whle, then drops down as they age.

Yes, this will keep coming back to haunt her as we would say, but for Kate, as the mom, I have no way of knowing if she was being selfish and just wanted free help, or if she was concerned and afraid for her babies..that soon she would be on her own. I don't know much about the tups healths after they were born.

I do wish there were ways, without stepping on constitutional rights for the medical field to be made to discourage multiple births.

it wasn't extended, and I'm not sure that it ever actually went to court. I have no idea what the reason was. Finding concrete info from that far back is tricky. Most newspaper articles and such are archived and some require payment to see articles, if they're even available to read at all.

as far as Kate's motivation? we'll never know. just like everything else. LOL

If they are not paying him anymore how can they order him not to talk or do shows?

I think it might mean that they'll be paying him until the contract he has with TLC runs out in May? I don't know. :confused3

He has a contract until May. However it may state in the contract they get paid per episode. He pulled the plug on any future episodes so he isn't going to get paid but he is still under contract with TLC so he can't make money on other TV shows. He cut off his nose to spite his face. Good move Jon.

Here is an AP report from 2005 regarding the baby nurse. Kate appealed the Medicaid cut-off (automatic after one year if the children are healthy) at a hearing and her appeal was denied.

TLC/Discovery getting a temporary injunction against Jon was quite predictable, I think. The contract seems to include language that the Judge decided was binding giving TLC exclusive rights to his TV appearances through May, whether or not they are paying him. Jon really needs to dust off his IT resume quickly, or try to get a job at McDonald's!

Of more interest to me is the countersuit, but we will have to wait until April for that. It seems that TLC/the Gosselins have admitted to failing to get location permits for filming, and have not provided the Department of Labor with a copy of the contract although it has been requested. They want the Dept of Labor to get a court injunction for the contract -- so much for their claims of full and voluntary cooperation with the State.:sad2:

Has this been posted yet? Kate is filming her new talk show and may move out of PA.

Hmm, I wonder what happens now. I sure hope he sticks to his decision, to not film the kids, but he still has to find a way to make some income, and I have a feeling the camera's will be back.

Very interesting.. Hope all parties get nailed before Kate takes the kids and runs to NC - where she can have the cameras stuck back in their faces again..:sad2:..

Oh man, I hope she doesn't go to NC, we are toying with the idea of moving there. I don't even want to be in the same state as she is. But if I recall correctly, she and Jon were wanting to move there before they purchased the current house.

I really hope you are wrong.

I watched the show for the kids but now it's all about Kate and Jon and their issues. Or TLC and Kate taking stabs at Jon.

Enough is enough. I hope he sticks to his decision too!

The link in the post regarding her talk show specifically states that the move to NC would be due to the fact that NC has different "child labor laws".. Hmmm.. So - it appears that Kate and TLC still want to drag the kids back on tv again..:sad2:

And I really would have thought that NC would have tougher child labor laws, much like LA, because in the Wilmington area so much filming is done there that I thought the laws would be more stringent. Guess I was wrong.

If Jon and Kate started filming about themselves, at least they would get a paycheck from TLC. Right now, it is better than no money and being under contract and not allowed to work anywhere.

True.

Either way...we will never stop hearing about Jon and Kate!

Thank you. I couldn't find it when I did a search. I thought I saw that somewhere. I see that it says she appeals..I thought I read it pretty good..did it say somewhere in all the remarks that she lost the appeal? I assume she did, but I didn't see that.

I would think Kate would still need Jon's permission to tape, no matter what state she goes to. Right now, if he gave permission, I wonder what they would have to do permit wise in PA to start taping again. I sure do hope she gets her own show.

That article doesn't seem very accurate. We know TLC is not in court to try to get Jon to allow filming of the kids, at least not officially.

I also do not think NC labor laws are more lax than PA. There are no protections for reality show kids, so I wonder why they don't argue that instead of about complying/not complying with child labor laws.

A show with Kate serving food to people.....:confused3:rolleyes1 Ok, then.

I'm sure you've heard about little Josie Duggar. :guilty: This will certainly affect their filming, so what back up plans does TLC have for difficult issues that families face? I hope they handle it better than the Gosselin demise.
