Jon and Kate Plus 8 Official Thread - Part 8

What is next week's episode supposed to be about? I read J&K are both interviewed for it, separately, but both interviewed, but what is the focus of the show?

I never had the paps outside the gym when my kids went..but you better believe I wouldn't leave my kids if there was a chance they could get in the gym. I thought she stayed aside a bit and didn't interfer. I also thought they all enjoyed themselves and seemed to be paying close attention from what we were shown, to the coaches. Was it mentioned they all didn't want to take gymnastics? I also don't know if she stays each time, or just this time, since the kids were being taped. Maybe they usually don't tape unless she or Jon are there?

The thing that bothered me the most about the gymnastics club is Kate having to be part of it -- my DD does gymnastics (has been doing it really since she was 3) as well as other sports/dance. There's a reason parents aren't part of it -- the kids need to learn to listen to and watch the coach, not their mom. It's an important thing that they learn, along with standing in line, and waiting your turn. Kate just doesn't get it -- I feel sorry for the coach, who tried to explain that that isn't the way things are done. If she's still needing to be the centre of attention at gymnastics, I highly doubt her kids are going to get very much out of it. No wonder Mady wanted to quit when she and Cara did gymnastics when they were younger. :sad2:

And gymnastics is not something I'd recommend for any kid that doesn't absolutely want to do it -- otherwise it's just play. .

one thing that confused me, for those who watched ... were the comments about the kids swimming so much a jab at Jon? Like that was all he could come up to do with them? I couldn't tell.

I read the blogs a bit and it seems the consensus was this was the footage of the hot day the kids wouldn't do what TLC wanted and Jon let them swim instead. That's why they didn't want to play soccer or 'play with dad b/c he is lame'. I didn't see it, but does that sound plausible?

They were just refusing to work that day and TLC/Kate turned it around to make it seem like Jon was well, lame.

You'd better bet there's no chance any unauthorized persons could get into our gym. There are people out there who would do a lot worse than take a picture of little kids :scared1: I wouldn't let my DD go there if they could, and the gym on the show looked pretty much the same as any gymnastics club I've seen.

IMO, if she really wanted to protect her kids from the paps, she'd have had her bodyguard or some of the crew stand at the door. No, this was all about Kate having to be part of it -- she just didn't get it.

Yes, that was what I figured too -- a little bit of revenge on the part of TLC, IMO. Sad that people who just watch the show don't know what "really happened behind the scenes" :sad2:

I guess this is one of those agree to disagree posts. I don't know if TLC would have taped (and this was a taping time) if Kate or Jon was not there, and people can enter our gym so that might have been a concern of hers. (I thought Kate said something about not having a guard at that time..does she have one now that taping is over?). We do have a viewing area for parents. I have no idea if this one did..but I would never blame any mom that wants to stay near their children, on their first day to a new gym. It's not like Kate got a lot of attention at the gym..they mostly showed the kids, and she didn't seem to be in their pocket, but was standing off to the side. I have no idea if she continued to do that on other visits, or if it was because it was being taped, or it was their first visit. I wouldn't have given it another thought if someone new came to our gym (although it's been several years since I have taken our grands and a lot more since my own kids went to a gym so maybe things have changed) and wanted to be with their children the first time.

Cause of course Jon would never be, uh lame :rotfl2:
I'm sure that isn't the first time their kids thought either of them were lame, or didn't want to play in the hot sun..and it won't be the last. At least when they are in the pool, they don't have to blow a whistle to get dad to come away from the fence and play with them. And, they are away from the paps cameras in the pool.

You're so right :thumbsup2 I always have my keys in my hand as I'm going out the door anyway. :drive:

I totally agree with you! Having a child who participated in gymnastics, Kate should of abided by the rules. I don't care if it was the child's first time or if she had 20 kids participating (wait, that would be the Dugers) she should of went to the parent waiting area. There is no way that gym would of allowed paparazzi in there to photograph. If Kate didn't have security, shame on her! I wouldn't doubt that Cara & Mady quit gymnastics because the gym wouldn't follow Kate's rules. The incident at the van with the keys was probably to let the paps take some pictures because they weren't allowed in the gym.
Your also right about all the kids having to participate. What a bummer for the kid that doesn't want to do that kind of activity!

I did not see the show, so I will offer commentary based on our gym

Our gym has a waiting area with full viewing windows. If your kid is in any other class except for the mommy and me classes--that is where you hang.

One week each semester is picture day. During your child's class, you are permitted to enter the gym (no shoes) to take photos of your child doing their thing.

Children can also have private lessons and sometimes the coaches will bring the parent in the gym for whatever reason. (Usually with the younger children.)

Given where the entrance to our gym is, even if paps were hanging by our front door, there would be very little they could see at any given time and likely our gym owners would call the police and have them booted off of the property for trespassing.

I'm not understanding what Kate being physically on the gym floor would do to prevent papparazzi and it seems that the gym itself did not give due diligence for protecting its students.

Kate's kids aren't the only "famous" kids in the world who do activities.

Just my $.02 having not viewed the footage of this incident.

I'm sorry--did they show a screen shot of the gym rule sfor you to know that she was actually breaking them?

I just posted what my gym does above. It is possible for different gyms to have different rules and it is possible that she was permitted in the gym and was abiding by the rules.

Jon, Jon, Jon.... :sad2:

Now, I will say that at first glance, this isn't a good thing. And it isn't. BUT. At the same time, I have to ask if this gives Jon ammunition to sue Kate 2.0?

Wow, he really is a player isn't he? Jon, where are your scruples? He claims Hailey is his soulmate and yet Kate 2.0 was waiting in the wings for him. Ugh, I don't know what else to say. Jon, what were you thinking?:headache:

As far as that scrap of paper being a contract, how does that work? Is it considered binding because they both signed it? How the heck did radaronline even obtain that? Oh, I'll bet Kate 2.0 gave it to them because she feels used. Though technically, didn't she talk about their relationship (duh) on various media outlets? It really doesn't matter now though, does it. Now it's out there for the world to see, for TLC to use and discredit Jon even further than they have. Seriously, a screenwriter couldn't have written a more bizarre story for a soap opera than this real life one. :sad2:

A year ago I would never have predicted this trainwreck coming, I thought sure, J&K fight and aren't always pleasant but no way would I have considered the mess that is now their lives to be true. Sad.

I don't trust that Jon has put forth any good faith effort to FIND a job to know whether or not his infamy is preventing anyone from taking a look at him.

The man has a questionable work ethic to begin with from what I've read on hater sites....not sure if it is true or not. But this goes back to when he claimed to have lost his job just b/c his wife was pregnant or something silly and I believe that the company had a more legal basis for his termination. I apologize for no links as I'm not really up to digging up proof.

But if one has those issues, fame unlikely is the problem.

No I didn't see the rules for that particular gym, however, being the parent of a child who participated in gymnastics, there are certain rules that are followed. Like redrose said in her post, the parents aren't allowed on the floor to view the session. There is a parent waiting area with a window that parents can view from. The idea is to have the child focused on the coach and not the parent.

Kate inquired about staying on the floor and the coach said we usually don't have the parents on the gym floor, which Kate simply smirked and stayed. These aren't the first "famous" kids to take gymnastics.

And we attend a competitive gym where exceptions are made at least once a season.

I get what you are saying--however since you do not attend this specific gym, you cannot say for certain that exceptions cannot be made. And my coaches wouldn't care how much money you made or who the heck you were.

And yes, through the reast of the year, our coaches will kick a parent off the floor if they were so gutsy to think they could disobey the rules.

I totally agree with you! Maybe thats why the kids seemed to be in a seperate area to allow for her to stay on the floor. It just seems that Kate feels entitled to break the rules because of her celebrity status. I also thought it was funny the way Mady was going on and on about how she hated her last coach when she was 3 yrs old, yadda, yadda, yadda! I can't wait for her tell all book to be published!

I'm no lawyer, but I think Kate has broken this contract. ;) At least Jon spelled his name correctly...do you think this is his copy or Kate 2.0's?

I'd like to see Kate's part, b/c I do not see written that they will not talk about their relationship (could still mean a business relationship) only that is says that. Why not show us the whole thing?
