I'm with you. I've not seen in the mags anything that Kate has done since the show stopped that would be detrimental to the kids.
I'm thinking he's thinking, hey, if I get the kids, I get money. He doesn't even live in PA..what would he do with the kids? Of course no one prob has to worry about him leaving them while he goes off to earn money, since he doesn't a a job. And it appears there is no girlfriend right now, for him to follow to Utah or France.

The odd thing is...Jon wished her well and it is in quoted print. So unless he would like to say he lied or play Jonny-two-face, he has no business painting her with a bad brush over an employment decision.

The courts don't care either, typically. Once a custody agreement has been reached, the custodial parent would have had to turn to the spawn of illicit activities for the courts to reverse their decision. Essentially--he doesn't have a snowball's chance of winning squat. His one and only shot was during the initial proceedings to establish custody. After that--the burden of proof tends to be pretty heavy .

His post-separation history is so far worse than Kate being in a dance competition.

This Us Weekly wasn't from long ago. Maybe 2 weeks. I have no idea if the article is online or not, what I read was in the actual magazine. It may be that Jon's there more. I hope that's the case. I don't see any reason why he couldn't be if Kate is away.

One of shows Kate was interviewed on caught up with Jon and he said he thought it was good that Kate was on the show and that he was staying with the kids. Since the words came out of his mouth, I thought maybe they were true. But who knows.

Jon's actions are so predictable. He has to keep his name "out there" and the only things he seems to be able to do are 1) date these trashy young girls
or 2) try to play the pity card and take a "poke" a Kate. Bottom line is that he has no skills and can't get a job. His papparazzi friends have all forsaken him so he turns to this. As for Kate, she is doing what she has to do. You can tell that she is completely out of her element on this show, but she is willing to put up with it to earn a living for her children. I really think that a lot of the "behind the scenes" gossip is just a ploy by ABC to "goose" their ratings. So far it seems to be working. I am still a Kate fan even though I will be the first to admit that "the girl just can't dance". I really see her as a "modern-day Walter Mitty" and I think that TLC should shape her new show around this concept. What SAHM doesn't sometimes dream of "hosting a talk show" or "dancing with the stars" or........

and for that matter, just because it was in Us Weekly, I don't believe it to be 100% true, either. Honestly, and I know this will come as a huge shock to you all ... the only part of the article I was interested in was the timeline of how Kate spent her day. It seemed to be a reasonable account.

Kate is doing what she has to do to keep her name out there, because she enjoys the spotlight, the lifestyle she now has, and wants to have a career in the entertainment industry. I don't believe any of this has been a hardship on her .. that she's "putting up" with being on DWTS simply to earn money for her children.

Now. with that said, I can't help but wonder how she's handling the criticism of her performances from the judges on national TV and her personal failure (to this point) to achieve the goal of doing well enough to win DWTS.

I really think that a lot of the "behind the scenes" gossip is just a ploy by ABC to "goose" their ratings. So far it seems to be working.

You're exactly right. ABC has taken a page out of the TLC Kate Gosselin handbook. Create the drama and they will come.

Kate, however, feels she needs to life a certain "level" of lifestyle. One that I don't think she initially wanted, but got used to thanks to the freebies given out by TLC over the years.

Many moons ago, when TLC did a one-off type show about Kate & Jon, Kate seemed very humble and enjoyed the life they had. Her selfishness and want for "Champagne-dreams" seemed to evolve over the years, and it has created the ugly Kate we now see, striving for every bit of attention, under the guise of "doing it for the children."

She could easily earn a living being working in the Medical field like she used to. In fact plenty of people probably do the same job, with the same number of children to feed.

Kate, however, feels she needs to life a certain "level" of lifestyle. One that I don't think she initially wanted, but got used to thanks to the freebies given out by TLC over the years.

This is the world, where many people want to have the lifestyle they have grown used to. I don't think I would want to go backwards. I like all our vacations, buying what I want, etc. Wasn't always like this. I don't know many people who would want to downgrade for lack of a better word. It may come to Kate working again as a nurse, which is prob why she is keeping her nursing license. As long as she spends time with her kids (and no one has shown me she hasn't), continues to love and take care of them (and no one has shown me she hasn't), I don't care what job she has. If she is actually enjoying what she is doing now, all the better for her. Everyone should enjoy their job. She gets paid nicely, which does allow her to live in the home the kids are now used to, allows the kids to continue going to the school they go to, and allows the bills to be paid. No brainer for me.

Just wanted to add, that I don't think she is an ugly Kate. I think she enjoys this job, and I have no problem with people enjoying what they do. I truly believe that she is doing it because she likes it and see's it as a way to provide for her children as well.

What is her job?
The road (not visible in the ariel photo) would not run along the bottom of the photo, but at an angle that would just cross the bottom right corner of the pic. The only place they seem to play/pose whatever you call it is the strip of grass between the the driveway and the right hand side of the property, and on the driveway. It is also ironically the only spot with few visibility obstructions from the road. You can't see the pool area due to trees, you can't even see much of the opposite side of the driveway (left side from the air) due to trees. It is her house (Jon "plays" out front too), but don't complain about being photographed when you have TONS of land, a pool with beautiful decking, etc. They did the EXACT same thing at the old house.
Maybe it's a southern thing but you don't grill/picnic/play ball/ride 4 wheelers/set up play houses/do art projects, etc. in the front yard! It looks like a great place to play behind the house and behind the garage. Yes, for bike riding the driveway makes sense. Speaking of bikes...please buy the tups new bikes. I just saw one of the boys photographed on the same 12" bike that Ellen gave them when they were 2. He looked like a circus bear. They will be 6 next month. Hard to believe.

I agree with the bolded part, I mean I lost my job in Dec. and we had to down grade EVERYTHING! It did suck but you know we have to look at reality instead of what we want. i think that Kate needs to understand this reality that at some point she may have to actually get a real job and not have as much as she does now.

There is a hill just behind the house and garage. It slopes down. Actually we see the pictures when they are out front. We don't see the pictures when they are out back, yet it has been said in one of the articles just today, that they do play out back. Maybe it depends on what they are playing with. We didn't cook out front (don't they usually cook on their back patio?) but we did hang there a lot when the kids were young. Families on my street still do.
It is her house and she still has the right to complain when photo's are taken. When you look up the drive from the road, there are several trees..they must have to work at it to get those photo's, and have one heck of a lense.

It looks like a great place to play behind the house and behind the garage. Yes, for bike riding the driveway makes sense. Speaking of bikes...please buy the tups new bikes. I just saw one of the boys photographed on the same 12" bike that Ellen gave them when they were 2. He looked like a circus bear. They will be 6 next month. Hard to believe.

without being snarky, why anyone would think that might have to do with the perception of Kate's entitlement attitude, if you (the general you) believe she has one. I think that's the simplest answer.

IMO, if Kate were truly concerned about providing for the children .. then she'd make changes to her lifestyle in preparation for the possibility that she might not have the career she desires. People do that all the time. And for all we know, Kate may have done some of the things I've done recently: reviewed utility bills and contacted the companies to see if I qualify for lower priced options, cut coupons (I had gotten out of the habit after the holidays), quit eating out so much, consolidating trips to town to save on gas, etc. Those are all simple things that have an effect on my bottom line without compromising my lifestyle in any way. And I'll repeat, she may have already done those things. We'll never know. But from outward appearances, Kate doesn't give the impression that she's cutting back in any way.

Jon pays $20,000/month in child support. $240,000 a year. Even without her DWTS income, Kate's residuals from books & appearances, and contract from TLC .. that's a nice income. I think if Kate was truly in financial trouble, then we'd be hearing about it.

Thankfully I didn't have to sell my house but yes the kids didn't like losing cable or going down in phones and ect. but it is life they will get over it. Some times we as parents have to make these tough decisions and we have to explain reality to our kids. Plus I rally don;t think that her kids will really throw a fit over having to move as they have a really nice big house and down grading isn't going to that bad! sheesh! you'd think they have to live on the streets and get rid of everything

One of the many reasons that the Gosselins are so polarizing is the fact that Kate has said she and her kids deserve certain things. This is called entitlement. She is owed nothing. When they couldn't make a buck, they would gladly use someone else's.

When they were "poor" the kids went to private school (on scholarships) and they moved into a 4000 square foot house that they quickly outgrew.

None of this is bad, but stop pretending you are hard up. It's insulting. That's all.
