YOu are required to wear either a vest of wet suit at Discovery Cove. And I can tell you she is probably sorry she had on that little tiny suit, that water in the Dolphin encounter is usually VERY cold. lol

I saw previews last nite, and they are already showing Discovery Cove. I'm betting they only did the greet/meet and kiss with the dolphins. I think the little kids are too young to do the push/pull. Kara may have did it and I don't think Kate is a swimmer, so she probably just got wet to her knees and got the obligatory kiss from a dolphin.

Comment on Jon-how does he find girlfriends that all look alike? Except for Kate Major. Or am I just getting old, that all young people are starting to look the same.

I think that was her dancing..something she admits she can't do. You can lead a horse to water, but.......

***!!!!!!!!!! (pardon me). That was some sort of horrific drug induced nightmare. I feel I've entered an alternate universe. That was awful and scary.

Loved the commercials for the show. So sad she can't figure out why she is not some loved icon. Well, back to the child exploitation...

She was making fun of herself and the awful dancing she did originally. It was supposed to be funny. We all laughed at my house. But she sure got it right in her interview..no matter what she did, a whole bunch of people would be critical, so they might as well have fun with it, and so they did. I think the audience there got it.

Really?! Her huge face taking up the full tv screen for what seemed like forever was supposed to be funny? I got a little chill....

Some people sure ask for all the criticism they receive from the 90%. just like Tony said; you can't say you want one thing, but then your actions never match your words.

I think if I thought 90% of people didn't like me, I'd look at myself a little to see why.

I really wish I hadn't seen that part of the show!

It was a wierd ending (it really was only seconds)..I would assume Tony did the choregraphy on it. But the actual dance was making fun of the original (which was really horrible), and I think that it did what it was supposed to do. Unless she suddenly turned into a great dancer, she was bound to be heavily criticized for just being there, because of her smile, her dress, her anything, and I'm sure she was under a contract to dance, so why not make it silly.
Doesn't matter what she does, she'll be criticized, she was sure right about that. As for how many don't like her, I don't think it matters to TLC (or even her), if she is still getting paid and people watch the show. So, other than crawling into a hole somewhere, she might as well strike while she still can. I doubt her Twist show will last long, and K & J was already on a downward run before all the hoopla, so I doubt she'll get more than one season out of K + 8.

She wasn't doing too bad until the end when she climbed into that lift thing. That was just odd. She may have been making fun of herself but I really think the hosts were laughing at her at the end. I think if I were her, I'd fake a injury and not dance.

I didn't get that Kate was making fun of herself either. I think she came out attempting to dance the paso doble again. She just can't dance though. I will say that at least she looked like she was having a good time despite her awkward dancing.

As far as her rehearsal footage from last night, I laughed when she said that 90% of her fans don't like her! Hello Kate, if they are fans then they ALL like you! Isn't that the definition of a fan? It would have made more sense if she'd said that 90% of the viewers don't like her. And yes, it's because she's controversial. Putting your 8 kids on tv, profiting from it as well as books about their lives makes you controversial. I think she relishes in the fact that people find her controversial, I really do. Kate has always come across as bold and unashamed of her behavior. And of course controvery sells. Did you catch her shameless plug for Kate+8?? They showed a clip of it and then she said that she's so happy and that the it will feature the sextuplets b-day.

I don't follow DWTS twitter much, since the begining, but I did look around on some boards, and others 'got it'. While the lift part didn't do anything for me (I assume that was her 'lift', but who knows) some of us did 'get' the actual dance. They talked about it before she did it, so that made it easier to understand. There really was nothing she could have done that would have pleased, as she said 90% of the people. Tony does the choregraphy, so I guess he must have 'gotten' it.

But it doesn't matter to me either way. It's over, she'll be moving on, and her dancing career will be a thing of the pass. Glad you were able to laugh over it, no matter what the reason.

I wonder who choregraphed Buzz's 'dance'.

Like someone said on another board..it reminded me of that Ricky Nelson Garden Party song that says "You can't please everyone, so you might as well please yourself". I think she was pleasing herself. She laughed through the whole thing. DWTS gave her way more time than they gave the others..apparently they thought it was good for ratings. We thought she was just having fun. Never for a minute thought she was serious. Maybe that's why I thought it was funny, and didn't think it was a big deal.

Of course it was plugged..although it's an assumption on my part it was prob a deal made with TLC for allowing her to be on the show. Just like they showed Evan skating and he mentioned the ice show, and Nicole was plugged. If the other's had anything going on, I would think they too would have plugged it. Why wouldn't they with such a large audience? That is her 'claim to fame', Kate + 8.

She did some of the same moves from her original paso doble so of course she was trying to dance it again. I still don't think it came across that she making fun of herself, that's my opinion. I think she looked like she was enjoying the dance more but I didn't find that it was meant to be a mockery of her original.

Kate will never see that she's exploiting her kids so long as she can make $ off of it. She has effectively fooled people into thinking that the only way she can support them is by putting them on tv. Or writing personal letters to them and publishing them. But you're 100% correct, her only claim to faim is Kate+8, her kids. Whatever.

They showed Evan dancing and he said he was in the ice show. They also showed a clip of Nicole playing. They also pushed the bachelor show (or the version on this year), and Niecey's show, when she was on.

You are right, she won't see that she is exploiting them, because as far as she's concerned, they are being taped playing and having fun. I don't fool easily, however, so I don't agree with your words that she has effectively fooled people (although I can only speak for myself), and I do think that she is earning some nice money for their futures. I do think she can support them by not being on TV, as can all the reality shows, but IMO, she is making money to allow them to live what she considers a better life style. I do believe that while she is still not with them all the time, if she had to be a nurse, and earn enough to support them for the long term, she would have to work a heck of a lot more hours.

If I agreed that it was causing them harm, then I would have a different opinion. Obviously there are some that think it's harming them, and some that don't. That's why boards like this are so popular. Lots of different opinions, although most of the people who do like Kate and the show have left this board, and gone onto other, more positive boards, because of the way the discussions sometimes go . Soon all that will be here, are those who want the show to end, and those that dislike Kate.

As I said in the past, I do hope that they have learned that the more private bathroom moments aren't needed, especially as the kids are older and it would be worse for them in school, (and before my words get misunderstood, I didn't like the private moments on the first show) and if I see them this go around, I'll stop watching.

I did read the book (didn't purchase it) and some of it was sweet, some was stupid. Just like other books like this. I'd be surprised if she made any money off it, but I do realize it was part of her contract.
