Jon and Kate Plus 8, Official Thread--Part 7

This isn't true! He refused to film about a week before TLC 'reduced his role' on the show. It's in the court documents. TLC said they didn't fire him, and they would still pay him but he had to stay exclusive with them. TLC found out he was going on LKL to announce he was stopping the filming and then decided to 'fire' him and sue for breach.

He was never fired in the sense that they were still going to pay him.

But the point remains--his refusal for filming of the children didn't come until AFTER all this nonsense.

He was surprisingly mute on the subject for the 4-5 years prior to his refusal to be on tv anymore.

I guess it comes down to the personality of the adult. I know several people that take many children very close in age all over the place by themselves.

I do this!

I know some though who'd rather have their eyes stabbed out with a fork than attempt to grocery shop with their ducklings. I think it really depends on the demeanor of the children and the patience of the adult making that decision.

Didn't he say at the end of last season that he didn't want the show to continue?

Maybe he never talked about it before because it was in his contract that he wasn't allowed to.

Do we know if he did and TLC just chose not to show it?

there was one episode that featured Kate grocery shopping. it was during the day, and Kate mentioned having a finite amount of time (she went during nap time) to get the shopping done.

Kate has a time or two said not nice things about Jon, but more often than not she "takes the high road".

I think that is her PR kindly directing her as well as Kate's personality.

:confused3

Kate's personality on the show was never to take the high road. She always had to have things her way and was very vocal about that. We often saw her yell, scream and humiliate others to get things her way.

Sorry--I put it in quotes, b/c that is always what she says after the expolosion of all this nonsense. I wasn't saying she always took the high road.

Yes she does lose her cool. But I was just posting the quote she always says when it comes to...Jon.

I thought we were talking about the aftermath and all the he said/she said.

I do agree that she was quite disparaging to him prior to all this.

"Hellooooooooooooooooooooooooo!" (the infamous clip that used to be shown in the show open!)

Wasn't that during the day when Jon was at work and Kate had a sitter come to the house?

Do we know if Jon was never home alone with the kids but TLC chose not to film or air the footage?

I'm not convinced that her personality has changed and is allowing her to take the high road. I think that it's more what she is being told to do by her PR people as well as TLC.

Maybe he never talked about it before because it was in his contract that he wasn't allowed to.

He said "HE" didn't want to do the show b/c "HE" didn't like being on it.

There are no quotes of him ANYWHERE that suggested the he even wanted his kids off the show.

It was all about him and how he didn't like the attention and how that was more of Kate's thing and how he had no identity.

But not one breath regarding his children being exploited and how he wanted them protected from the show.

Let us not forget that shortly after his epiphany to prohibit their filming after he "quit" being filmed on the show--he was followed around on camera on the twins birthday.

And I thought I saw someone post that he had them filmed in the car--but never followed up on that (was too sick to really care on that particular day) and then lost track of whether or not he actually did that.

If that part is true--for someone who wanted to protect his children, he sure turned on his heels real quick when it benefitted him to do so.

I'm not sure if it's already been discussed here or not but why doesn't Kate have to account for the $30,000 in cash withdrawals that she made?

Wasn't trying to say that she was. Just saying that I hear her say that a lot. It doesn't sound sincere to me though--but it indicates to me that she is avoiding when she can to say too much disparaging things about Jon now. I didn't realize we were talking about the whole marriage.

In the aftermath, I feel she has been more guarded in her words than Jon.

But I don't read all the articles (unless you guys post full-text here)--I know you guys mentioned the Vanity Fair article didn't show her in a good light at all, but I don't know what she says.

Honestly--I love for her to dish a bit more about her issues with Jon to see if they jive with my observations.

I feel I get more out of Jon about that, than I do about Kate.

Again, it all falls into the hands of the people at TLC that do the editing. We have no idea how long the couch session really lasted and all that was said (Kind of like Tribal Council on Survivor :lmao:).

He may have wanted to speak out against it long about but couldn't because of the contract. There's a chance that he finally got fed up and said forget the contract, I'm going to do what I feel is right and deal with the TLC issues later.

We need to remember that TLC was controlling what Jon says and what is aired to the public.

Didn't he say at the end of last season that he didn't want the show to continue?

And then he turned around and signed a new exclusive contract with TLC thru Feb. 2010 with an option for TLC to carry out that contract even further if they so desired.

So if he "wasnt' fired" and was still paid for shows despite him not being filmed and if he is still under contract--

It seems that he could have stopped filming his kids at any point prior.

Don't you find that odd?

As TLP just posted--he signed a new contract (though do we know the date?)...

Why would he do such a thing?

And after he nixed filming of the kids--he gets his twins filmed?

How can that be explained?

Thanks for clarifying. I thought that you were saying that Kate's personality is to to take the high road. I really hate when she uses that phrase because I don't believe that she's doing it because she wants to but because her PR people are telling her that she has to. I have the same reaction when she emphasizes my kids or claims that everything she does is for them.

IIRC, she doesn't say much about Jon. It was her actions in the day-to-day that were less than flattering than what she said.

Kind of OT but I was flipping through Woman's Day last night and found this in an article on "work from home" jobs - I think we could all do this and earn some cash! :rotfl:

Have an opinion? Become an armchair judge.
Lawyers looking for feedback before their cases go to trial often use focus groups in mock trials, either online or sometimes set up in one of their local offices or a hotel conference room. All you have to do is listen to or read through the cases, then give your opinions. The best part: You don’t need to know anything about the legal system to participate. Salary: $40 to $150 per case, depending on its complexity. For more information: OnlineVerdict.com, TrialPractice.com

I get annoyed when most people use that phrase. :lmao:

I do think in her case it is PR directed.

IMHO it is evidence that TLC has spent much time grooming her and with the show's demise, they went into overdrive.

I think a lot of what she does if for the kids.

But noone can convince me that running on a treadmill, shopping for clothes, hitting the spa and getting hair bleached is for the kids.

I enjoy all those things too--but it's for me, baby!:lmao:

I have to admit that I'm not up on everything so that may be why I'm confused.

How could he have stopped the filming with TLC? If he refused to sign the contract but Kate did, would that mean that the kids could no longer be filmed?

Do we know when the contract was signed? If it was before the divorce filing, maybe it was part of trying to save the marriage because clearly Kate had no intention of stopping the show.

When did he get the twins filmed?
