Jon and Kate Plus 8 Official Thread - Part 6

It just isn't something that I thought was out of wack. If the other peple had done the same thing we prob wouldn't even notice it. Maybe they were giving her direction, and she realized she messed up something she was supposed to say. I just still don't pick up much of anything.

Keep in mind that at the pre shoot, the director told her to remember not to 'watch the show'. He explained that many co-hosts do that, and they have to bring them back to the show. I think she listens to what other's says..looks at her card (which has her written script on it..prob even about not posing for Playboy), and tries to put in what they tell her to say, but just isn't good at it yet...getting it in smoothly, that is.

I think with time (if she has time), she'll improve.

Ok -- if I have it right -- she starts playing with her hair or her earpiece almost as soon as the topic switches from her to Whitney Houston. At about 2:23 Sherry says Whitney said she's not taking crack anymore. Then Kate makes some kind of face. It could be a coincidence, maybe not, IDK. :confused3

Really, it just looks like she wasn't paying that much attention at that point because she thought the camera wasn't on her (although the audience was watching) Maybe we have to remember that she really is not used to doing live TV -- I read somewhere that it took a whole day to shoot the tups' last birthday party. They have a lot of retakes. Even her interviews are basically scripted, and the questions are usually known in advance. This is so different from doing a talk show with different guests and topics each day.

This episode is reminding me of the importance to wash your veggies when you bring them home from the store. :happytv:

Do not wash your veggies or fruit until you are ready to use them they will start to go bad faster...I sell Tupperware I know what I'm talking about

I really wish we had a farm stand near us. We get over-priced farmer's markets that travel around different parts of town, but that's about it.

Is there anyone cuter than Collin?

"Jesus made it. Henry growed it. Mommy cooked it. We ate it."

Cara seemed to really be having a hard day, perhaps it was just her foot hurting her or maybe she was extra tired or/and the divorce.

I am so glad that Kate has learned to make the most of her time with the kids and seems to spend more quality time with them now than ever before. That is what life is all about, the trials help us to grow and hopefully become better people.

we have a good farmer's market in the summer .. the only thing that bugs me about it is the Amish have come in like Wal-Mart and stomped all over the local farmers. They have a huge set up, and set the prices just low enough that everyone else at the market has to follow suit to compete. It's been really frustrating for the local farmers.

I bought my last corn of the season 2 weeks ago .. it will be a long 10 months until it's time for it to be in season again.

We're really lucky here. In the city where I live they have a permanent farmers' market that is now open 7 days a week. And near our trailer, there is a farmers' market on Wednesdays but we usually buy direct from the farmers -- they put the produce on a table or cart at the side of the road with a jar for the money.

I have to say I always thought my DD hated vegetables until we stopped buying them at the grocery stores. Now we buy only organic and local if possible, and it tastes so much better. She ate sooooo many peas this summer :lmao: she usually preferred them to the chips and candy that the other kids were eating.

We're just really getting into harvest season here -- another couple of weeks and we'll be picking apples. :goodvibes

Some friends of ours used to belong to a buying co-op. They would pre-order their fruits and vegetables and the farmers would bring them into town every week. It was a great way to save money.

Forgive me if this is a repeat, I didn't see it posted:

Kate Gosselin moves closer to a talk show career

Sept. 21, 2009, 6:28 PM EST
By Josef Adalian, The Wrap

Maybe they'll call it Paula and Kate Plus Cake.

Celebrity chef Paula Deen teamed up with tabloid queen Kate Gosselin

over the weekend to tape a pilot for a possible daily syndicated talk show, industry insiders confirmed Monday.

Deen has had a talk show development deal in place with Warner Bros.

TV's Telepictures unit for more than a year. A week ago, E! Online reported that Gosselin -- fresh off last week's guest co-host stint on ABC's "The View" -- could be up for a regular gig co-hosting the show with Deen.

Telepictures is said to be considering multiple formats and possible co-hosts for the Deen show, which may end up resembling a version of "The View
2.gif
." One concept would have the show tied to MomLogic.com, a website owned by Warners.

US magazine's Web site reported Monday that, in addition to Deen and Gosselin, comic Julie Gold, journalist Rene Syler and Lee Woodruff were also at the weekend pilot taping.

Gosselin, who shot to fame in TLC's "Jon & Kate Plus 8" reality show, confirmed the rumors that she might be going the talk show route at an appearance last week at the Southern Women's Show in North Carolina.
"I've been given the gift of gab, so why not use it?" Gosselin said, according to a report in the Charlotte Observer.

Should Telepictures decide to hire Gosselin, it's most likely the studio would begin pitching the show to local stations for a fall 2010 debut. However, given the heat behind Gosselin, the studio might want to speed up that timetable.

Reps for Telepictures, which produces talk shows fronted by Ellen DeGeneres and Tyra Banks, declined comment.

OK, I watched it three times. I can't see the eye roll or the agravation. Someone capture it please.
I hadn't watched this view..I thought it was pretty good. I assume this is not the time when people said her legs weren't together?

Me too. I watched it more than 3 times, I just knew I was missing something. I probably watched it 6 times and slow motioned and still nothing. It was my first encounter with Rachel Zoe.

Yep, that's why I said chimed in. Kathy made a joke, and Kate went to top it with her own "You know what's really funny..." story about herself, which wasn't funny at all to anyone there it seems.
I think Kate meant "funny" as "strange" and hushed that rumor. It was how she related to Kathy's joke. I didn't see a darn thing wrong with her comment since it is a rumor about her that is out there. And I'm sure it seemed like such a funny (strange and comical) rumor to her that is why she said it like she did. How crazy,...Playboy?!

I didn't see it either. She does tend to bring everything back to herself, but I didn't see any eye rolling or dirty looks.

But don't you think that is how people relate? When she was talking about losing control and the babysitter, Sherri chimed in and totally related what she'd gone through to knowing how Kate was feeling. not that Sherri made it all about her but it was her way of saying, "Been there, done that too, I know how you feel."
I didn't see the eye rolling or dirty looks either. I did see a kind of blank, I'm lost here, type look. And that look that says,"I'm listening and watching more than I'm participating--ut-oh."

I think it seems like a hard show to co-host just because they are always talking over one another (which is why I do not watch it). We're taught not to interrupt and be rude, yet that's what you do on the View.
And Whoppi...I like her...but I swear, she thinks her opinion is the be all, end of all of every topic. Ugh.

I'm going to try and leave this thread now. You all have been a lo of fun to post with. I just feel like I can't spend time on these 2 people anymore, lol. If I see the show someday with Paula and Kate, I'll surely comment on it. But sometimes you're shown you need to move on.

Keep up the good job keeping this thread open and kind!!

while I'm not purposefully leaving ... starting today, I won't be around much at all for the next few weeks. The big consignment sale is this week (I sell stuff and work the sale), I'm heading to East Tennessee this weekend (do I need a swine flu mask?!), and going to WDW next week (and have NOT packed a thing!)! When we get home from vacation, it's 2 weeks to go before the school fall festival, and I'm on the auction committee .. busy and fun time ahead, but not much time to pay attention to the Gosselin drama, which is all the same stuff, different day, anyway. :rotfl2:

he he he you just think you'llbe able to leave.

I'll be on a cruise for the next two weeks, so it sure will be quiet here with me, you and Madge all not posting much, if at all.

Z on TV ... clearly, Z isn't aware that Kate's been eating organic for a few seasons, now. LOL.

I think he also missed that their (scripted) life is driven by product placement for a few years now! I'm a little shocked he seems surprised at this revelation, that their life is not real. It's so obvious to me.

Kate's claim is organic, but she isn't green. We saw the lights piled up and they create mountains of waste with paper plates and paper towels. I think that may confuse him.

Video: Kate Gosellin says Jon's Dogs could Return Home:

http://www.radaronline.com/exclusives/2009/09/video-kate-gosselin-says-jon%E2%80%99s-dogs-could-return-home-i-just-needed-break

It is a 10 1/2 minute video clip from the Southern Women's Show in North Carolina. Shows Kate answering several questions from the audience.

Yep, sure they'll be back. Who takes a break from having pets? Especially a person with a houseful of help, and two eight y/o's and NO ONE has time to take care of the dogs? I have to ask why did you give your kids 2 dogs for Christmas then? A little common sense would be nice. At least she didn't blame Jon for it. (in the video of the dogs leaving you can hear a kids say, 'mommy doesn't want them')

And how dare all you people have lives! We are just like the dogs to you!;) Have fun, I'm sure there will still be J&K news when you return.

It is a 10 1/2 minute video clip from the Southern Women's Show in North Carolina. Shows Kate answering several questions from the audience.

Obviously the questions asked were pre-selected. Once again Kate swinging her leg was annoying. I thought she was back to the "um's" again. The question concerning the dogs was funny. She didn't sound upset that those dogs were gone. Of course they can keep saying they are coming back, but when? Find it strange that they could break out of metal cages??

Like a past poster said, the show is nothing but a big informercial. Depending on what commercial is being shown says what they are filming about. I have stopped watching the last few weeks. I just think the show has taken a 180 and not in the right direction. Very boring and definately not reality tv.
