I don't think she looked like an idiot, I really don't. But I don't think she was ready for a full hour of live TV. She did turn every conversation around to being about her, that is true. I think her best moment was when she was speaking about the issue of having so many pregnancies & what it does to the body. She seemed poised and confident for those few seconds. Outside of that, it really was a non-event. Whoopi didn't really even address Kate or engage her in the conversations, Joy was only slightly more interested, and Sherry was the fan who doesn't even know how many kids Kate has.
I'm waiting until tomorrow before I decide whether or not I think Kate is talk show material. She may be, just not at this format. I don't think the pace was good for her, the focus wasn't on Kate, and she seemed really nervous and uncomfortable.
I'm sure the ratings for the show were through the roof, which may give the false impression that she was that good. I wonder if anyone is doing test marketing for Kate's appearance, like a focus group?
I did DVR The View yesterday (must have been before Disney???) so I got to watch last night! I think she did ok but kind of "watched" instead of jumping in and when she did it was sometimes hard to hear over the others so you couldn't tell what she was saying. It kind of looked like she was checking her cards a lot too - even during her interviews with Victoria Beckam - do they each have a list of points to bring up or questions to ask? I'm not sure how that works (I did watch the video this morning but still not 100% sure - I don't watch the View that often....). I also think that if she's trying to get into talk shows and such she might have been trying too hard to do and say the "right" things instead of just letting what she was thinking come out.
One thing I noticed though is that when she was talking to Dr Oz that she said something like (I can't recall the exact quote) "I'm organic, natural, blah blah blah". To me it sounded like the "brand" of Kate Gosselin - I think I would have said something like "I try to feed my kids healthy, organic foods.". Just the way she phrased it sounded like we should know her line from the grocery store or something like that.
I don't think today's show will be as interesting as I'm sure it will focus on Patrick Swazey's passing and I'm guessing Kate didn't know him any more than I did as opposed to someone like Whoopi.
Also, from the link this morning before the show, I thought it was REALLY weird that Kate said Leah looked at the pictures of her (Kate) in People - does that mean Kate's keeping these copies of the magazines??? Do they send you one if you're on the cover? I gues I would have thought regardless of if Kate's buying every one to keep them off the shelves that they wouldn't be out laying around for the kids to pick up and flip through.
I'd thought the kids - at least the twins - had met her before. It seems like awhile back the twins had commented on her clothes or something like that according to Jon.
Why is Jon 'Octodad' which is a negative connotation/designation thanks to Nayda, but Kate is not Octomom1.0? Does make you wonder. IMO, all of them are equal in the world of marketing kids for money. Nayda's kids have the laws of CA on their side however, so they may in fact be better off.
There have been articles that referred to Kate as an "octomom" as well - it's not just directed towards Jon.
Do you have a link to support this? How is it possible that organic food has no nutritional value

I have a garden but without pesticides it has no nutritional value? Why?
Did you ever wonder why Chinese drink only hot tea? They boil it to kill the bacteria. Most local Chinese farming uses organic methods, in that the only fertilizers used are human and animal waste: Without being boiled, it's basically a nice cup of E. coli. In the case of China and other poor Asian nations, the reason for organic farming has less to do with ideology and more to do with lack of access to modern farming technology.
The National Review reports that Americans believe organic food is healthier by a 2-1 margin, despite the lack of any evidence supporting this. When you take the exact same strain of a plant and grow it in two different ways, its chemical and genetic makeup remain the same. One may be larger than the other if one growing method was more efficient, but its fundamental makeup and biochemical content is defined by its genes, not by the way it was grown. Consumer Reports found no consistent difference in appearance, flavor, or texture. A blanket statement like "organic cultivation results in a crop with superior nutritional value" has no logical or factual basis.
Some supporters of organic growing claim that the danger of non-organic food lies in the residues of chemical pesticides. This claim is even more ridiculous: Since the organic pesticides and fungicides are less efficient than their modern synthetic counterparts, up to seven times as much of it must be used. Organic pesticides include rotenone, which has been shown to cause the symptoms of Parkinson's Disease and is a natural poison used in hunting by some native tribes; pyrethrum, which is carcinogenic; sabadilla, which is highly toxic to honeybees; and fermented urine, which I don't want on my food whether it causes any diseases or not. Supporters of organics claim that the much larger amounts of chemicals they use is OK because those chemicals are all-natural. But just because something is natural doesn't mean that it's safe or healthy consider the examples of hemlock, mercury, lead, toadstools, box jellyfish neurotoxin, asbestos not to mention a nearly infinite number of toxic bacteria and viruses (E. coli, salmonella, bubonic plague, smallpox). When you hear any product claim to be healthy because its ingredients are all natural, be skeptical. By no definition can "all natural" mean that a product is healthful.
Consider the logical absurdity proposed by those who claim conventional growers produce less healthful food. To the organically minded, conventional growers are evil greedy corporations interested only in their profit margin. What's the best way to improve the profit margin? To buy less pesticides and fertilizer. This means they must use far more advanced and efficient products. The idea that pesticides leave dangerous residues is many decades out of date. Food production is among the most regulated and scrutinized of processes, and today's synthetic pesticides and fertilizers are completely biodegradable. They're supported by decades of studies that demonstrate their total safety.
In the United States, 2006 brought two major outbreaks of E. coli, both resulting in deaths and numerous illnesses, ultimately traced to organically grown spinach and lettuce. According to the Center for Global Food Issues, organic foods make up about 1% of all the food sold in the United States, but it accounts for 8% of E. coli cases.

I'm sure - as with anything - you can find the research that supports your thoughts and beliefs (general you - not you!

Wow -- that was very interesting to watch.

She was totally not like that on the show today.
She was briefed? Sure didn't help much.
She seemed much more relaxed. Like I said before, I think she kind of got "caught up" yesterday like always looking for a spot to get her points in from her cards.
I guess, ultimately, the arrangement would be made between whoever has contracted the security company to work with the Gosselins and the security company. There have been other guards with the family. Whatever works for them. I just thought it looked funny to see Steve walking behind Kate holding a flimsy garment bag. Not terribly menacing from a security standpoint. LOL.
I'm sure you're right, though. I'd say he can jump into protection mode very quickly!
On the way home from Disney we stopped at a rest stop in FL. There was a "security guy" who was about 80 years old and could hardly walk. DH asked if I thought the guy could take him out. My guess is he'd skip the chasing part and just shoot you - lots less energy!

I'd take Steve over him any day!
In any case, Kate does seem to know the difference between junk food and organic..she says she tries to stay organic and not feed her family a lot of junk food. Who knows how long that will last now.
Yes she does seem to know and enforce the healthy habits - hopefully that's something consistant regardless of who they're with.
I don't know that they'd be able to continue to eat organic as it's very expensive especially for such a large family.
