More on Kate from Cleveland (there's a video of Kate speaking at the event in the link as well):

CLEVELAND -- Kate Gosselin made it clear from the minute she took the stage at the Cleveland Women's Show that she would only answer questions she deemed reasonable.

The star of TLC's "John & Kate Plus 8" took questions from a standing crowd of mostly women who say they adore Kate Gosselin.

"I've always been amazed what a great mom she is, how she can organize 8 kids and dogs and a house, we just love her," Kelly Moore said.

Gosselin talked about her exercise regimen, cooking, and her favorite episodes of the show.

She and her husband have been criticized in recent months for exploiting their children, and now the two are going through a divorce.

She thanked fans for their support, but told them she has decided not to talk about her husband for the sake of her children.

"They keep me going, they are the ones that need me to be as whole as I possibly can be and I don't have the answers. I'm learning, I've never done this before, this is the first time I'm facing hard decisions alone and I just want to make the right decisions," Gosselin said.

Instead the mother of eight offered some advice for other working moms experiencing "mommy guilt".

"Moms don't all sit at home cooking every day, moms aren't always there every day to greet their kids at the school bus, moms are as versatile as dads. If you're working you're also providing for your kids in a different way," Gosselin said.

Fans in the crowd say they look up to Gosselin.

"What I like about her honestly is she's a strong woman a very organized person and she's inspiring for me," Caprina Gates, a mother of triplets said, "I think it's easy to judge and I look at her for strength and I know she's not perfect but who is? None of us are."

Gosselin visited as part of the Cleveland Women's Show. The Women's Show runs through Sunday at the IX Center.

You all have been really kind. I think Kate looked and sounded like an idiot on The View. She brought EVERYTHING mentioned back around to her. Serena, Fashion, Eating Healthy, Duggars; all turned into "Kate." And for her to pass judgement on Michelle Duggar risking her own health and unborn child's to carry a 19th! Give me a break, didn't she do so even more by carrying six at once? Why did she pretend she'd be supporting her kids alone? Of course Jon has to contribute; he's their dad. She has such trouble speaking, especially off the cuff. She is just dim-witted to me. And boy does she seem like she has a temper... Supporters always say we are "shown what TLC allows us to see." I think we are shown what won't get the authorities called.

and Kate...PLEASE stop talking about organic. Haven't you read the latest? NO NUTRITIONAL VALUE in eating organic. None. We know you don't cook and your kids eat and drink a bunch of sugary junk. They always have. It's okay, we see it on TV so it's sort of documented. Craft service is providing food for the kids and crew about 5 days a week right? The pre -packaged, indiviual servings, your kids are picnicing with in your driveway at lunch time don't fool anyone. They are heavily processed albeit organic. It's okay. Starbucks and delivery pizza for your kids; it's okay. You're still the world's tired-est mommy.

:thumbsup2

I think you meant to say "most exhausted". ;)

Kate Gosselin is escorted back to her hotel by bodyguard Steve Neild after co-hosting The View in New York City on Monday (September 14).

Co-host Sherri Shepherd asked the 34-year-old reality TV mom what it was like when ex-husband-to-be Jon Gosselin introduced his 22-year-old girlfriend, Hailey Glassman, to their eight children.

“This is definitely, I’m not going to lie, difficult,” Kate responded. “The truth, for the sake of my children, I’m going to take the high road [and not talk about it]. I melted down over the weekend. In the privacy of my own home, I melted down. It’s difficult. It’s difficult to wake up every day and wonder what things are going to be thrown my way.”

I don't know how I would feel if my bodyguard carried my luggage. Shouldn't he be more concerned about a crazy fan that is going to attack her? Isn't that why she has a bodyguard in the first place?

I'm pretty independant myself so I would have just carried it myself but then someone would say "why's she carrying everything and he's empty handed?". It's another "can't win" situation. :confused3

that's what I thought! Why is he carrying her stuff?

but he's the bodyguard. not her assistant.

I think that one woman interviewed was trying to have Kate's hair. I'm thinking it's not a good look for her. :lmao:

I don't think she looked like an idiot, I really don't. But I don't think she was ready for a full hour of live TV. She did turn every conversation around to being about her, that is true. I think her best moment was when she was speaking about the issue of having so many pregnancies & what it does to the body. She seemed poised and confident for those few seconds. Outside of that, it really was a non-event. Whoopi didn't really even address Kate or engage her in the conversations, Joy was only slightly more interested, and Sherry was the fan who doesn't even know how many kids Kate has.

I'm waiting until tomorrow before I decide whether or not I think Kate is talk show material. She may be, just not at this format. I don't think the pace was good for her, the focus wasn't on Kate, and she seemed really nervous and uncomfortable.

I'm sure the ratings for the show were through the roof, which may give the false impression that she was that good. I wonder if anyone is doing test marketing for Kate's appearance, like a focus group?

He's whatever she pays him to be.

As for organic..we have lupus and other same type problems in our family. Chemical free foods are on those family members diets per doctors instructions. Most people go organic, so as to not have the chemicals in their diets. They are the number one selling foods at our farmer's markets. Nutritionally, they are the same..however, without the chemicals and sprays, and steroids.

I definately saw the show much different than some of you. I did not see an idiot. I saw a person who was on a show, where people jump in, talk about themselves and their thoughts and interupt each other, and usually argue. I thought she fit in just like the others do. I don't care for the show (or at least the people already on it), so I admit I'm biased, but I saw a person who seemed to be just like the others on the show. She put her thoughts out there. As a delivery and labor nurse I can't believe she didn't know what she could have done to her own life carrying all those babies. I have no idea if she's right or wrong about Michele Duggar (I've heard it both ways..that it was ok, and that she is lucky that she hasn't injured her uterus), but that's a lot of babies with very little time to heal, to pop out of one woman. That was Kate's opinion as a L & D nurse. Your mileage may differ...but that isn't an unusual thing being said about MD. My mom had 22 brothers and sisters, and her mom was plain worn out, physically and mentally. That's a lot of children from one womans body. I know that was the thing to do when my mom was young..they all worked the farm (in her family, they had their own slaves going), but it was telling on her poor mom, whose husband didn't believe in birth control.

You know, "idiot" is ugly, and probably too stong a word to describe how I perceived her. To me she is as dull as dishwater. And so, so self absorbed...
So I guess Sherry didn't know the name of the show? I missed that!

Actually, I thought Sherry looked more like a idiot (said in the kindest way ..I just can't think of a nicer word at the moment ..foolish maybe LOL), who didn't even know how many kids Kate had LOL.

I had the feeling that the notes she had, were when she was supposed to jump in and say something.

Kate Gosselin says life hasn't turned out as she planned. Her soon-to-be ex Jon, however, seems to be living the high life.

Speaking at the Cleveland Women's Show in Ohio on Friday, the mom of eight told the audience that being in the reality-show spotlight isn't all it's cracked up to be, Usmagazine.com reported.

"I've lost a lot of control in my life," Kate, 34, told the crowd of mostly women. "At the beginning of all of this, you've heard me say before, I didn't want fans gawking, I didn't want people gawking, I just wanted to be myself, my family."

She added, "I have learned, I appreciate your support, I need you, I love you, thank you."

Jon, meanwhile, was flying solo in Manhattan Sunday night — he was spotted at a couple of MTV Video Music Awards parties without his 22-year-old girlfriend Hailey Glassman.

The 32-year-old Octodad showed up to an after-party at nightspot Avenue and a bash at the trendy Hotel on Rivington on the lower East Side, according to Usmagazine.com.

But either Gosselin was too busy party-hopping or couldn't score a ticket to last night's VMAs at Radio City — Gosselin told the mag he skipped the show.

Why is Jon 'Octodad' which is a negative connotation/designation thanks to Nayda, but Kate is not Octomom1.0? Does make you wonder. IMO, all of them are equal in the world of marketing kids for money. Nayda's kids have the laws of CA on their side however, so they may in fact be better off.

After listening to the speech in Cleveland---she needs and loves her fans--since when?? Since someone is coaching her and trying to soften her image so when they end her "kids" show, they can find someway for her to continue with the trips and freebies without having to work.
Who is she kidding that she is cooking and doing things with her kids when she is attending these women's shows and appearances. Anybody who thinks this is normal for a mother of 8 obviously doesn't realize she has a ton of paid help. She should look good for all the spa treatments and plastic surgery she has had. Certainly doesn't look like a women scorned by her former husband. He's the one who seems more upset about the marriage failing. She is concerned about herself and herself only.

Am I reading everything wrong or was both Jon and Kate both absent from the kids this weekend? I thought they were going to take turns, so that one parent was with them. I understand Kate was at her "job", but was Jon getting paid to go to the award show? I just hope that poor bodyguard is getting paid well to put up with being Kate's new lapdog.

I think it sounds like that -- I think they need to work out the schedule a bit better, since this was supposed to be Kate's weekend I think.

JMHO, but if they were getting along better they would let the other parent have the kids when they weren't going to be there.

That's often written in the separation agreement. I wonder why the paps haven't let us know who was with the kids.
