Jon Gosselin Tells Good Morning America TLC Is "Exploiting" His Plus Eight

After his almost-ex-wife's brief press tour over the past few weeks, Jon Gosselin is finally ready for a sit-down of his own.

E! News has learned exclusively that Good Morning America scored the first post-split interview with the new man-about-town. On Friday, Gosselin sat down with GMA's Chris Cuomo and chatted about Kate Gosselin, the network that started it all and his future in showbiz.

Since Kate Gosselin has remained fairly neutral when it comes to comments about Jon in her interviews, does he reciprocate the courtesy?

An source on set during the taping tells E! that Gosselin was "very open and honest" about his feelings toward Kate and even delved into his thoughts on the future of Jon & Kate Plus Eight.

"TLC has had him on a gag order and he's sick of it," says the source. "Jon basically comes right out and says he's worried the show is 'exploiting' his eight children."

He might be sick of the cameras following his family around, but that doesn't mean Jon's ready to leave the spotlight...

"Jon says he doesn't see himself as a celebrity, but because the public does it will make it hard for him to go back to a normal life and a normal job," spills the source. "He wants to stay in the TV industry and has a lot of ideas."

While a rep for Gosselin declined to comment, the interview is scheduled to air on Good Morning America in the next week, as well as ABC's other news staple, 20/20.

Madge, I'd be interested in where you found the book information, as I can't imagine after this long of the book not being popular, anyone would still want an autographed copy (unless if was set up as a charity). That said, I don't believe she has been off promoting her books for some time, and certainly not at this time. Have you read anywhere that she has been off promoting her book (and which one would she promote, the one talking about the happy marriage?).

I haven't seen anything, other than the California event, that mentions the book. I read an account of the Houston appearance from a few weeks ago in a blog, but I can't remember whether Kate mentioned the books at that appearance. I don't think it did. IIRC, the Houston show is the only appearance, other than TV interviews, Kate has done in months.

I do think, because of the popularity or should I say interest, she is enjoying right now, that they are trying her out in different venues, to see if there is a fit. Sor to like they did Elizabeth on the view. I never in a million years thought she would have anything to add to any show (and personally I still can't figure out why her LOL), so who knows where Kate's fit might be.

in all the interviews Kate has done, even the early ones, we've not seen Kate discuss anything other than the book, show, children, or marriage. even when the questions were unexpected, they never really strayed from those topics. I think her appearance on The View will be interesting to watch!

Edited to add, I see where in the original announcement they said she would be selling her book "Eight Little Faces". I still find no where where she has been on the circuit promoting it at this time. I think either of her books will be a hard sell at this time, unless I misjudge her popularity on this front and people still want her autograph.

I agree... and I don't think she has been promoting the books at all since May.

While I don't understand, it has been explained to me her main Christian draw is that she did not reduce her pregnancy. If you do that I guess you get a pass for everything else? I think she made the right decision, but certainly that doesn't cancel out later deceit, IMO anyway.

I think there was more to the Christian draw than the decision to have all the children... and that's probably all that can be said without violating the DIS rules.

I was thinking more specifically to PP event .. I'm well aware of the picture charge. LOL.

One of the things that was different at the appearance here -- the book signing was a last-minute add on and separate from the church. There were no autographs done.

I won't be watching this interview either, but he is so full of BS. No, Jon, TLC is not exploiting your children. YOU are, and have been right up until TLC wanted you out. Now he is worried about it? I'm not buying that either! TLC is at fault, but ultimately all responsibility lies squarely on the shoulders of the parents. They chose their life as it is each and every time it came up.

UPDATE: In response to our earlier report, Gosselin explains to E! News: "I'm not saying TLC is exploiting my children. But I do believe the media and tabloids covering my family and the show for their own financial gain are the ones exploiting them."

The father of eight refutes claims that he's biting the hand that feeds him, saying: "I have said on numerous occasions TLC has afforded my kids a better life and has helped provide a better roof on their heads."

Makes me think he's speaking the truth .. and someone has to remind him what he's supposed to say instead of what he said ... maybe it isn't what's happening, but this is not the first updated version of an interview he's given. And since the interview was taped, there's plenty of time for an edit.

Jon Gosselin hosted a pool party Saturday night at Wet Republic at the MGM Grand Hotel & Casino, and the lady he brought along wasn't Kate, Kate 2.0 or even Hailey but his mom Pamela!

Jon joins an illustrious list of ex (or soon-to-be) husbands - think Kevin Federline - who have pulled in a few extra bucks by hosting Vegas events. But he did draw a crowd, and signed hundreds of autographs in the process.

Estranged wife Kate Gosselin is on kid duty at home in Wernersville, PA.

A new episode of Jon & Kate Plus 8 airs Monday night on TLC.

Kate Gosselin has always denied claims she was romantically involved with her bodyguard, insisting instead that Steve Neild and his wife Gina are two of her best friends. Well, the friends - along with their teenage son - paid a visit to Kate's Wernersville, PA home on Saturday for a cook-out and other end-of-summer fun.

Kate's on parenting duty this week with her eight kids while estranged husband Jon Gosselin plays in Las Vegas. He hosted a party at the MGM Grand Saturday night that brought out hundreds of adoring female fans.

I finally got the video to work showing Kate, Jon, Steve and the mystery lady in the parking lot for the tups first day of school.

I didn't see anything weird that people were talking about. I don't think Steve Neild could stop them from taking pics as it was public property. I don't think there was anything he could do about it. I didn't see Kate strutting, lol. I didn't see anything wrong with her double checking with Jon that he was leaving either. In fact, I thought she showed great restraint with that clutzy camera guy. Man, is he rude. For someone who seems like she doesn't have a lot of tolerance for stupid or patience, she sure tolerates a lot of crap from those paps. Honestly, I'd give y'all a show if I was in her shoes. I would get so angry with their stupid, tasteless comments and questions...my terrible temper would show, I'm afraid.

I believe those were the promotional photos for the water park and the hotel -- they do a vacation package. I saw a similar batch of photos for another guest host back when it was announced that Jon was doing this.

Really? I guess that shows how 2 people could see things so differently. I would have called him on the phone rather than have that conversation publicly -- a text message would have worked as well. I really didn't see the point in making a show of it.

I didn't see it as a show. She just walked over and asked. He was driving away so texting wasn't a good idea. Maybe they don't do so well answering each others calls like that (like ignoring). I dunno. Just didn't see it as s how. I was expecting something besides her walking over, tapping on the window and asking him a question. Something dramatic, lol. Yes, we all see things very differently.

Jon Gosselin hosted a party at the MGM Grand Hotel's Wet Republic pool nightclub Saturday night and RadarOnline.com has the only video from inside the bash.

Most of the 2000 party-goers were girls in barely-there bikinis but the few guys who braved the crowd had themselves a field day at Jon's expense.

They heckled the Jon & Kate Plus 8 star about his bald spot, asking him about the cost of hair plugs; his weight; his pecs, or lack of; even his clothes -- and he wasn't even wearing Ed Hardy!

Jon had his mom Pamela plus four friends with him but that didn't stop him from mixing and mingling with as many women as possible.

He had the welcome mat out at his cabana in the club's VIP section and even took phone numbers from several girls as he downed a glass of Veuve Clicquet Champagne.

Not all the women there were Jon fans however. Some came just to get out of the 115 degree Vegas heat. One woman even held up a Team Kate sign.
