Jon and Kate Plus 8 Official Thread - Part 5

After watching this video on Radaronline I thought what Jon must be telling all the ladies. "I'm not really a dad, I just play one on TV.". :lmao:

http://www.radaronline.com/exclusives/2009/07/video-jon-gosselin-gives-playboy-life-rest-play-daddy

What a weird way to make a living, and an even stranger way for a child to grow up :scared1::scared1::scared1: I know it's hard sometimes just to get DD to stand still for a photo when she's playing -- she'd never consent to what the Gosselin kids are doing.

I'm a few pages late on the real estate stuff but I live in Utah and we own a timeshare in park city.

Ours is through a major hotel chain tho. Whoever said that's what's usually up here is right. In park city itself you can buy or rent houses (a lot of times the owner goes somewhere sunny during the winter and rents the home out to skiiers).

Does he actually 'own' in Canyons? Or is it in Park City. It's all considered Park City but it's very..different. Canyons is up a different direction.

I'm not sure where he bought -- I think the story was that he was staying at Canyons (the hotel, probably) and decided to buy before he left. To me, that says TS. Plus, to buy a 4 bdrm condo (can't imagine he'd buy a 1 bdrm) it would cost as much as their house.

Do you own at Marriott or one of the other companies? I was surprised at how reasonable the resale prices are.

Personally I think it's fiscally irresponsible for both parties to buy/rent/lease another home when they have one sitting empty that they could use.

Their old house isn't all that far away. It's large enough that both Jon and Kate could have their own spaces there. Heck they could make the whole upstairs into a separate apartment and make that Jon's house while the main floor could be Kate's. But why do that when they can spends thousands upon thousands on fancy housing in exciting communities? Especially since they have all this money they can just flush down the toilet. @@

All this throwing around of money - especially after Kate screeched on and on about the coupon - is just ironic to me.

They didn't sell their old house? :confused3

You're right -- this makes no sense financially, especially for somebody who's so obsessed with using coupons. :confused3

Quote: Not that was filmed. I do know that Kate talked about worrying how they would send the kids to college in Sept 08 at a church appearance. That was just before they moved into the 1.3 million dollar house.

1.3 million would go alooonnggg way to paying college educations for the kids, wouldn't it?

As for where they are choosing to live, I guess it is up to them. Being far away from the kids and needing to get home for an emergency is not different than if they were gone away from home due to work--such as when Kate is at speaking engagements, book tours, etc.

I think the divorce will be very, very messy. If Kate is hiding money, it should be easy to find out about it, they can surely supeona (sp?) her earnings records.

I feel sorry for the kids. Watching the video of the shows, how many times are the kids required to do something again to get it right for the camera? They don't look like they are having a lot of fun.

Also, for all the posters who say "I would NEVER" =--be careful with that word as it always seems to come back and bite you in the hiney!!!

:scared1:
I can't believe someone said they had 100K stashed in the house. What a way to put the family in danger.

I know when we get speakers at our church for functions, we make out the checks with no liabilities taken out of the check. I bet Kate got some of the checks and just cashed them. But anytime anyone takes more than $10,000 out of the bank in cash, the Federal gov. is notified. It has to be reported. We have an owner of a cheese factory in town, and each week, his secretary calls the bank and says, she is picking up $7,000-$10,000. She cashes his payroll check. My sister told me, it is automatically reported. So if Kate is stashing money, she probably has no idea, that there really is a paper trail that Jon could find if he really wanted too.

When our church pays a speaker, it goes on our church reports..very easy for someone to see, since it's not kept private. I have no doubt this is just the begining of accusations. There is always a paper trail, and I'm sure if Jon is feeding out this info, lawyers are already proving the money is as it should be. I'm sure Kate has had an accountant from the begining who makes sure her quarterlies are paid. It's not that easy to hide this type of money, when you are claiming your airfare and expenses on your income taxes.
Also, I have my own business. My money from that business goes into my account. I don't hide it, it's just that it doesn't go into the household account. Maybe Kate has her own account.
I don't intend to get all caught up in the divorce accusations. And I'm sure there will be plenty of them, going both ways.

I worked for a bank for 10 years and know about this document that must be completed. The customer is aware that the document is being completed because there are questions you have to ask them in order to complete the document. If they refuse to give you the information you still have to complete the document to the best of your ability. The document must be completed if they withdraw a large amount in cash or bring a deposit that meets the required amount in cash. So if Kate made large withdraws this indeed would be the case. But if she did this over time and in amounts that didn't trigger the form than she could possibly get away with it. Especially if the account she used for these transactions was only in her name.

He's taking a bunch of his pals to Vegas? Ugh...

I have a friend whose son's wife hid $60,000 from her son! That's a lot of moola!

Yeah honestly, I wonder if he bought a house and rents it?? It actually might be the way to go if he had the money.

We're at a Marriott, yes. We own in summer, tho. Winter is considered Platinum, Summer Gold..fall/spring Silver. So we're in the middle.

If he did a timeshare, it wouldn't be unreasonable pricewise at all. In the winter at say..Marriott..for two weeks (which is what they require you buy now) it'd be like 120k and then yearly maintenance fees. (That's a total stab, ours is one week and in summer..) The maintenance fees would be around 2k a year? That's with a major company tho. I'd imagine some of the smaller ones could be a lot more.

Hmmmmmmmmmm

I was thinking the same thing when I read that!

Looks like it is going to be a messy divorce!

We had to fill one out when we were cashing an insurance check. The teller kept asking us "Are you sure you want to cash this and not just deposit it? You know you have to fill out paperwork." We just kept repeating that we weren't doing anything illegal and get the paperwork. It was kind of weird. :confused3 And yes, it was filled out right in front of us.

And I think the divorce will go a lot easier if Jon's so called "friends" keep their mouths shut. Do they think it makes him look good if they tell the press that Jon is taking them on an all expense paid trip to Vegas to celebrate and then in the next breath tell them that Kate is hiding cash from him. Makes me think that there is a very good reason for her to be hiding it from him. Maybe he blows through it and she's trying to keep some from being spent. :confused3

The money war has officially started? Or should I say-what we have expected.

http://justjared.buzznet.com/2009/07/29/jon-gosselin-scavenger-hunt/

I thought they said they would not talk about each other.
But apparently, Jon is leaking news to his friends so they can
tell the tabloids.

I'm not sure why anybody is assuming that Jon is leaking the info to his friends so that they'll tell the tabloids -- isn't this just exactly the type of info people gripe about to their friends when they're going through a divorce?

Or maybe it's just like the two engagement stories (Deanna and Hailey) neither of which turned out to be true. The more I read the story, the more I'm having trouble believing it. For example, I can't see Kate hiding money from Jon in the house -- he was there more than she was before the split (a safety deposit box, maybe) Yes, I believe she controlled the money, that he now has no clue how much money there is, and that he needs an accountant to figure it out -- but for now, that's all I'll believe without further proof.

Yeah honestly, I wonder if he bought a house and rents it?? It actually might be the way to go if he had the money.

Marriott is really nice -- that's the one I'd choose. :goodvibes I did check the listings for this one -- DYK, you can get a floating platinum week resale for under $20K?

Good for Kate!! I would hide the money as well it sounds like he is just wasting it as fast as he can. It sounds like all he wants to do is spend like crazy. I laugh at the thought of Kate hiding the money around the house. A dollar here a dollar there lol

Does anyone else get the feeling that thery are filming shows that we'll never see? How incredibly awkward will it be to watch the kids do a scavanger hunt, knowing that Jon just got back from hanging with what-his-name Lohan and his two mistresses? I've heard people make comments like "Well now that there's no more Jon & Kate plus 8"...
I think people who aren't as informed as we are really believe the show is over because the marriage is over.
And to start up again in August when no one expects new shows to begin is foolish, IMO. Unless TLC is going to hype it up like never before, I can't see a lot of people tuning in.

So Jon & Kate have their own pads that they go to when their not at the "filming station" aka "kids house" and the closest they could get is a 3 hr drive? If this isn't another example of these 2 idiots exploiting their kids so they can continue their lavish lifestyle. I feel so sorry for those 8 children that have to be a part of a divorce happening on television just to keep the gravy train going!!! Those 2 are true con artists!!!
