I understand the point that the money made from the show should primarily go to the kids. It is there childhood that is being put on display for us to window peep. There should be a major reward at the end. However, if they are worth the estimates on TV, a spa visit or a Starbucks or even a car, isn't going to break anybody up.

Plus, my dad was friends with the father of a country music singer--he told my dad that he would be shocked at all the free stuff people get. My guess is she is not paying for a great deal of it. I worked at a car dealership in college and we gave the UK basketball coach a free Explorer.

I wish she'd get a new bra. That's the same one she wore in the coral sundress that made the dress look terrible. That seam across the front shows too much and makes it look very funny and unflattering.

Kate, if you are reading, ditch that bra!!!

Oh and one of the pics with Jon and his bleached mystery woman w/ dark roots ( ) says he is out of the town after an 8 hour photo shoot with his family. So, maybe he did show up for that family photo shoot after all.

Glad to see this. It helps very little in my opinion of him but I'm glad to know he isn't that fickle.

She needs to work on those roots.

Okay - his kids are in town (the town he will live in) and he does not spend time with them? Shouldn't he take them to his new place so that they can at least see where Daddy will be when he is not with them? Just show up at the photo shoot and then leave? Sad when the only time you spend with your kids is "job" related.

The only one acting with any class at the moment is Kate - I hope she keeps going, Jon's doing a great job of destroying his previous public image by himself.

And I'm quite sure if Kate wanted her views known at the moment she could do it easily - there would be 'leaks' from 'close friends' or from 'someone close to the family'. She's showing a great deal of restaint and class at the moment. More than I would be!!!

Kate is smarter than Jon. She is letting him dig his own hole and he just keeps digging it deeper and deeper. The absolute best way for her to go is silence. And notice we don't see her out much either. Again, very smart. If she doesn't say anything or get her picture taken then the only one they have left to talk about is Jon.

My question is how can Jon or Kate put on their nice clothes or enjoy their nice things knowing that on their own they could not afford those things. Neither of them are employeed! The ONLY reason that they have those thing items is because they have 8 cute kids that they put on TV. They did not earn anything they have. I could not live with myself knowing that my kids earned the money for the family. TLC should not allow this. I do not believe that any other TLC family makes a living solely from their reality show. Am I wrong here?

yup -- that's a reporter for Star magazine. Funny how everybody jumps on Jon when they think it's a new fling, says they hope it's not, and then jumps on him for having dinner with a reporter. I guess in some people's eyes, he can do no good.

I agree about your comments re them living off their kids. I believe there used to be a lot of problems with this in Hollywood, which is why they made changes to the child labour laws. Unfortunately, the Gosselins flew under the radar on this one, since it's considered a documentary show. But I think the same principles should apply -- the parents should only be entitled to management fees and reimbursement of expenses for the kids that are relevant to the show -- everything else would have to be held in trust for the kids.

And management fees times eight would still be a substantial paycheck.

Hmm. funny how the stories seem to change if we wait longer -- which is why I think the whole story will be so different 2 years from now.

I certainly hope Kate continues to act with some class.

However, when people go through a divorce it is really hard because there is so much anger and hurt towards the other party. My very good friend used wonderful restraint while going through a divorce. She let her ex hang himself which he did so nicely. However, I wondered how she could do it throughout the whole ordeal.

I think it'll be very hard for Kate once that 45 days is up. I hope she can see how it will be to her advantage to keep quiet. People dislike her so much so anything she says can and will be used against her. She better off like this. And Jon doesn't need much help hurting his name. He's done a lot already in about 2 weeks.

From what I've read, the 45 day non speak thing started after that interview. I haven't seen anything from Kate after that. Was that interview after the agreement or before? And perhaps Jon just plans on talking about himself and his future, and not abotu Kate, which I thought was the agreement we all heard, that they wouldn't talk about each other.

Kate & Jon are also part of this show, not just the kids managers. They have made changes in their lives to do this show. Just like they wouldn't have a show without the kids, the kids wouldn't have one without them. I do hope they are banking some good money for the kids, but short of my calling Kate and asking, and expecting an answer, we won't know that for a few years.

It really isn't the same thing as Hollywood kids. Like Ron Howard--actually worked and acted. The Gosselin kids are being filmed doing somewhat regular activities. Also, Kate "wrote" the books. I think most people would say that money is hers and I'm pretty sure that will cover a few years of Starbucks and Land Cruisers. We don't know that minus the new expenses that come with fame (i.e. bodyguards) and the expense of the house, she and Jon haven't put away the majority of the $$ for the kids.

Even if Jon isn't on scummy-girl #3, really??? a Star magazine reporter. Why not just go straight to TMZ. I think he is up to no good...I feel some tell-all coming on.

I agree there should be protection for the kids, but this is different than a Hollywood child star like Brook Shields. Jon and Kate are part of the show too, yes, they have the show because of the kids, but they are still part of it in their own right. I would be very surprised if Jon and Kate weren't putting money away for the kids. It does seem like they are spending alot, but as someone else said celebs get ALOT of freebies. Kate's car may have been free or greatly discounted, as well as Jon's. And we all know most if not all of their trips and adventures are covered. I doubt Jon or Kate pay much if anything for any clothes for themselves or the kids. So they hopefully are putting alot away and in a trust for the kids.

Well then I guess the same holds true for Kate, don't you think? Remember the whole bodyguard fiasco? There were pictures of her walking through the airport with 'Steve' which sent the tabloids wagging. Then come to find out, the other bodyguard was there too but had been cropped out of the picture to create more drama. Kate has been darned if she does and darned if she doesn't for some time now. Jon's actions IMO are more concrete in that he's clearly showing poor judgement. If Kate is smart (and I think she is) she will keep her mouth shut and let Jon defame himself without any help from her. By keeping a low profile and not giving out interviews or comments to magazines or photographers she is doing the best thing for her and the kids. Jon seems content to live the bachelor life and start anew in NY. If that's really true (I sincerely hope it isn't) then I think we'll see him fade from both the show and the kids' lives. I think, have always thought, that Jon loves his kids. However he seems to act he's been trapped and forced to (gasp!) work for his family so he deserves a second chance to live free like a fraternity guy.

If I did my math right, the 45th day would be August 4, the day after the series comes back on tv. Convenient, huh??? Won't interfere with the first show--in terms of turning people off.

If the trip to NY was on "Kate's days" she probably did not want them to go see his new apt.

I hope they can get their divorce over and done in a timely matter. Like I and others have posted before, that marriage has been over for a long time--at least a year if not more. They were also "trading" days for longer than just a month, as pp stated. They were trading days when Jon stayed with them while Kate was gone and then she was home and he would be gone. It just wasn't publicized or talked about on the show.

I think we all should boycott the August 3 show and the following ones and maybe, just maybe, tlc will drop it.
