:lmao: I guess in some people's eyes, he can do no good.

Well then I guess the same holds true for Kate, don't you think? Kate has been darned if she does and darned if she doesn't for some time now.

I think redrosix was adding a little humor here. :thumbsup2 Often when someone posts something negative about Kate, someone else is bound to say that Kate is darned if she does or if she doesn't. At least that is they way I took redrosix's post.

They're both a couple of pinheads, as my Dad would say! I think they have issues but like others have said, Jon tended to fly under the radar while Kate (we all know she's bold!) was more outspoken. I don't think either of them respected one another for a long time and that is just a recipe for problems. Jon's actions now make me ill just as some of Kate's actions on the show drove me crazy. But I'm certainly not perfect either and thank my lucky stars that I don't have a camera crew filming my life!

I saw one of Kate's books on a used book site for $1.48
Won't be long before the brand new ones are at the dollar store.

I think we all should boycott the August 3 show and the following ones and maybe, just maybe, tlc will drop it.
I think that would be a great thing for those who want the show stopped. I'll be watching it however.

Exactly -- I didn't read the posts yesterday, so it was really funny to read 48 hours of posts one right after the other. And it has happened before with Kate. Just an example -- when she wore the bathing suit, people said she should cover up, then she wore a dress to the store and they said she was overdressed. :confused3

I think this about Jon AND Kate. They are both addicted to fame and the attention it brings.

ITA!

From what I've read, the 45 day non speak thing started after that interview. I haven't seen anything from Kate after that. Was that interview after the agreement or before? And perhaps Jon just plans on talking about himself and his future, and not abotu Kate, which I thought was the agreement we all heard, that they wouldn't talk about each other.

Kate & Jon are also part of this show, not just the kids managers. They have made changes in their lives to do this show. Just like they wouldn't have a show without the kids, the kids wouldn't have one without them. I do hope they are banking some good money for the kids, but short of my calling Kate and asking, and expecting an answer, we won't know that for a few years.

It really isn't the same thing as Hollywood kids. Like Ron Howard--actually worked and acted. The Gosselin kids are being filmed doing somewhat regular activities. Also, Kate "wrote" the books. I think most people would say that money is hers and I'm pretty sure that will cover a few years of Starbucks and Land Cruisers. We don't know that minus the new expenses that come with fame (i.e. bodyguards) and the expense of the house, she and Jon haven't put away the majority of the $$ for the kids.

Even if Jon isn't on scummy-girl #3, really??? a Star magazine reporter. Why not just go straight to TMZ. I think he is up to no good...I feel some tell-all coming on.

The interview was done before the agreement, but came out afterwards. I think she ambushed him -- all's fair in love and divorce, some would say.

And perhaps they are putting aside some money for the kids, or they spent it all on the house and other things that are just in their names. We don't know. But if we look at the idea in general terms, I'd say that kids in a documentary series deserve to have some protection. Not all parents are scrutinized as much as Jon and Kate -- it would be interesting to see if other families in a reality series do things differently.

And I have to disagree about the book -- had Kate not been writing about her own kids, for whom she can give permission to publish, she would have had to get releases from each kid to write about them and publish their pictures and giver them a portion of the royalties or pay them upfront.

I understand the point about the books. But if that is the theory, then everyone who writes a book because of their kids owes them part of the royalities. So, if I write a book about surviving twin boys then I would owe them part of the money from the book. Or like Jerry Seinfield's wife wrote a cookbook for feeding kids more healthy. These are the experiences of the parents. Ultimately, Kate was "writing" about her life experiences, which including two pretty amazing births. The kids didn't do anything to contribute to the book except breath;)

I guess I didn't realize they gave the exact time frame. I really didn't pay that much attention, because I didn't think the interview was damaging to him. I sort of thought he does his own damage.
I think we'll be seeing a lot of he says, she says. I can only hope they think of the kids before either of them sound off.

Kate was writing about her own kids though, so the rest doesn't matter, and she (and Beth and Jon) was the one who did the writing. That said, we could go back and forth and back and forth, but until Mady writes her book, we won't know if the kids benefited or not.

I agree about the $$, hopefully some put back for kids but I mentioned it orginially because many of the comments on thread criticize Kate for spa visits and Starbucks habit (apparently boarding on addiction:)) by saying that she is using the kids money. I was just trying to point out that this book sold pretty well. She could be putting away the majority of TLC $$ except for the purchase of the house and between the books and the $$ from speaking engagements she could have some luxuries and not feel ungodly guilty--well at least not about the money part.

I have to disagree. Alot of mom's write about their kids. I was just reading something on AOL about a mom who wrote a book about her son who was a heroin addict. She is writing the book about her experience with him, from her perspective. I'm sure she didn't have to get a release from him or give him a portion of the royalties. She had experiences because of her son, but it is still her story. Pretty much the same for Kate.

maybe for the first book, but wasn't the second book basically pictures of the kids? I don't know, I haven't seen it, just heard the buzz.

Kate gave her interview to People before there was ever mention of an agreement. They posted this little blurb:

During this very difficult time we will be working to focus solely on the needs of our family. This includes no longer commenting publicly or reacting to media stories and speculation. Our goal is to do the very best for our children and that will be done as privately as possible. We appreciate the understanding, support and well wishes from so many.

after that interview. I don't believe it was ever officially stated when the agreement was reached, however.

A jeweler has supposedly stated the he did sell an engagement ring to Jon while he was in Paris.

I go back and forth on this one. On one hand, I think Jon has really lost his way and this may very well be true. On the other, this makes no sense at all. Why would a 22 year old party girl want to marry a man with 8 kids?
And why would Jon want to get tied down when he hasn't even gotten untied yet? :rotfl:
