Jon and Kate Plus 8 Official Thread - Part 5

Watching last nights show made me sad.
They seemed like such a sweet family in the early years.
I was struck by how soft and sweet Kate was when they just had the twins.

Watching it, it seemed that Jon usually gave into Kate's demands. She wanted another child even though he strongly opposed. Sounds like he got tired of her talking about it and gave in.
When they re-showed last seasons final episode, you could really tell Jon was quite unhappy about the show and the limelight, but Kate just repeated how she was happy and that the show would continue. Well, the show continues but now her marriage doesnt.

Funny how they skipped over the whole renewing of the vows when they talked about their trip to Hawaii.

I hoped they watched last night's episode. It might make them remember why they got married and realize that they shouldn't give up on that type of bond. I think if they toned down the "famous" part and just lived their lives with update shows every once in a while it would be a great compromise.
Noone wants to never see the kids again - we love the little buggers.
But just an update from the KIDS telling us how school is, shoaing how they have grown, etc. Jon and Kate can put in their funny little anecdotes too, and talk about their reconciliation...I hope.

I didn't watch last night. I guess I just didn't see the point of watching that after last week announcing that it's over.

goodness...Kate is really getting ripped in the rag mags this week. I didn't read them but the covers at the grocery store line are pretty harsh. (I can't say I disagreed with any of them though.) I wonder if she will ever be standing in the grocery line with one of the kids and they will read these things. Like "Kate Gosselin, Greed before family" or "How Kate controlling ways have left her with brokenhearted kids and a husband that doesn't love her anymore". So sad.

I was thinking about something Kate said in the episode last week. That her kids are her 1st ,2nd and 3rd priorities. Hmm, I think that's her problem. By putting them above everything, she can justify the show, and the money, and fame, because it is "all for the kids".

Perhaps she should get her priorites in line with what her Christianity teaches. God first, then family. In fact, I was always taught it was God, spouse, then children. That when you put God first, and then your spouse, everything falls perfectly for the children. Had her priorities been 1. God, 2. Jon, 3.Children I think she would have much happier children right now. Not as much "stuff" and materieal things, not as much fame, but a happier family.

:scared1: I hope this is not true.
I read the other day that the Star thing isn't true -- Jon issued a statement about it, just before they zipped their lips to the media.

Can you imagine though if his book came out in November and Kate's family cookbook came out in the same month?

that book may be put on hold... Zondervan is reassessing the release:

Everything you just stated equally applies to Jon.

What if he writes a book and claims that he had to think about supporting his kids... it was an offer he couldn't turn down? Is that worse than continuing on with the intrusive show, especially while the kids are trying to handle their parent's divorce? I don't know, neither one sounds good to me. I have been bothered by the invasive nature of the show for a while. As Mady and Cara head into their tweens, they really don't need it. A book (though tacky for sure) would be less likely to be exposed to their peers, and would hopefully not be centered around the kids. NOT voting for the book rumor, but at this point, maybe there's really nothing left to tell...only confirm. I think what you see on the show is what it is; a mess, and not a new one.

He could totally use that angle, especially if the show gets cancelled," he needs to write if for his kids future". I don't think it is worse than the show just on par with it. I think there would be a huge market out there, an uptapped market. There are lots of men out there frustrated with divorce/ child support/visitation as there are women. If he went into the book with the likes of a Dr. Phil, that would be a big pay day. I would read it,whatever that says about me I admit I would.:)

I am not at all of fan of Jon, but I cannot see him putting out a tell-all like described. Not with details about their sex life and everything. He mentioned on the show that he knows one day his kids are going to Google his name and what will they think? So he's aware of what his kids will see in time, imagine if he put out a tell-all so the kids can read horrible thins about their mother and their parents sex life? I don't think he'd do that. I CAN see him writing (well, not Jon writing, but someone for him) a reflective book or maybe a single dad book, but not a tell-all.

I always liked Jon, but now I think he's a big jerk. I can't believe where he wanted to put those crooked houses!! No way could they have ever played in them that far away from the house.

If he felt like Kate pushed him around he could have been a man and went to counseling or whatever, but instead he apparently went out and hung out with a 23 year old who I guess made him feel like a man.

Now, I thought where he wanted to put the houses was so much better. Sure, the kids need to be supervised when they play there right now -- but he seems to do that anyway. And later, they'll be playing there on their own. In the woods, the houses become part of a bigger fantasy world -- near the house they're just houses. And, maybe Jon wanted them in the woods so they could have some privacy.

But, I totally agree with you on the last statement -- there's no excuse for that.

:rotfl: I have 3 pairs. Black Mary Jane, Fusia MJs, and Croc Capri Flip Flops (The most comfy).

What should we suggest next?:rotfl:

A haircut? Counselling (even just to cope with the divorce)?

Sooner or later that book would come to school in somebody's backpack -- Ughh! :sad2:

You're right about giving the soon-to-be-tweens some space -- they're going to need it. I'd like to see them write a book someday -- they should be allowed to finally cash in for what they've had to put up with.

Yes, it does, I think Jon enjoyed the "stuff" and the fame also. I do think he wanted out though when he realized it was destroying them. I also think he put Kate first up until recently. He tried to make her happy and it wasn't being recipricated.

The chances are good he signed that contract to continue the show. He only seemed to want out, once he realized he couldn't party with someone other than his wife at 2 in the morning, and not be rag mag material. I wonder, i fhe hadn't been caught, would he have been OK with the show continuing? Also, I notice that he has still not removed himself. I wonder why he doesn't take some of his money, and buy himself out of it.

I don't think either of them put the other first. When Kate was describing one of the boys on Mondays show, she said he keeps it all in, then when he lets loose, he's like Jon, and out it all comes. Jon agreed the first time this was shown. I think we're just seen the tip of Jon's anger (and maybe Kate's too..who knows. Tlc might not want to show us that. I think they both forgot that marriage is about putting each other first.

Also, if we all know that he did not want more children, that he says he'd rather be at work than home all day with kids, don't you think that the kids will know that too? The time to have said he didn't want more kids, was before they had them. He seems to forget he had a part in that.

As for the Christianity part..I can't make any comments on how they'll be treated at the purly gates, because God has made it clear that He alone does the judging on if they get in. If I make the judging on if they are Christian, I might have trouble fitting in the gate myself, and I've got plans for passing through that gate :rotfl:.

I'd read it. I wouldn't buy it, but I'd read it. Is the book really much different than people articles given by them (mostly Kate)? I don't buy People either, but I'll read it if I come across it.

Does anybody think that Kate' cookbook "luv is in the mix" will ever be published, I don't .
Even though the publisher is mostly known for their faith based media, they are still a business and can't possibly make a profit off the book.

I would most likely not buy it new, probably used or have my sister loan me hers. Her husband is disgusted with the show. My sister and her daughter were fans and my BIL could not stand to hear Kate's voice. with all that has happened recently between J&K he is really following the story. He has become my only family member who will discuss the show:rotfl::rotfl:
We email each other articles, lots form you guys here on the DIS.

I just thought of something does kate have a sister? I know she is from a large family but does she have a sister. I have 3 sisters, one is my BF, we can go to each other about anything and I value that so very much. If kate has one maybe that is her only confidante?

"During this very difficult time we will be working to focus solely on the needs of our family. This includes no longer commenting publicly or reacting to media stories and speculation. Our goal is to do the very best for our children and that will be done as privately as possible. We appreciate the understanding, support and well wishes from so many. Thank you."

Does anyone really believe that neither of them (particularly Kate) will keep their mouths shut and completely cut off the tabloids? I'm thinking, if they do, the only reason is because TLC has them under some type of contract that strictly forbids it, thereby causing everyone to tune in again in August. I don't think TLC much likes being beaten to the punch by the other articles and stories coming out.

I wouldn' t bet on it:rotfl: Maybe Kate will have to go away to a remote island somewhere. If Jon play enogh beer pong that might keep him quiet.

yes. she has at least one sister, she's mentioned in her speech.

since Zondervan is currently reassessing the release date... I'm not sure what's going to happen. I'm sure that it will depend on what, if any, information comes out in the coming months.
