Jon and Kate Plus 8, Official Thread-Part 4

Sorry, I just don't like to see the remarks about the kids, and I wouldn't deny them anything. If the kids are getting something fun and special, I think it's a great treat for them, since they are part of the show. I certainly don't have to be Kate to wish fun and good fortune on these little ones.

it was a JOKE. Kate said/says everything is a rare treat for them. She's said it so much that it's become a cliche.

of course those children should be rewarded for their work. I don't disagree with that at all.

I find it fascinating that 2 people who hate the paparazzi & publicity so much would choose to place these playhouses in the front yard, where they can be seen by all. they have a large back yard, why not put them there?

I thought the rejected items were used (albeit new looking) cribs from their church members. We don't know if she already had some donated ones, or what the reason was for her not wanting them.

it was the father's church that organized the donations. that's how I've always understood it... I could be wrong, though.

Can someone please tell me what day the new episodes are on? Thanks

I'm sorry, when I said 'their' I meant the church they were going to at the time, which was Kate's dad's church. I didn't mean the church they attend now.

I don't think anyone doesn't want the Gosselin children to get the crooked houses--they don't want them getting them for free. Their parents can afford them. If the company wants to donate them--donate to some charity to raffle off for "Make a Wish" or "Ronald McDonald House".
I think its funny that those houses will be placed in the front of the house--must want to make it easier for the "p" people to photograph.
My mother was over today and saw an episode of J & K for the first time. Her comment to me was, that women is so phoney!!!!

I have to disagree...I don't think asking your kids to sit quietly while you talk to another adult is work - I expect that of my children. The cameras to the Gosselins is "normal" for them. Now the "denying" of the drink (I will admit I did NOT watch the video so only going by what was posted in regards to that), yes, if you have a commitment or it was already discussed that you'll have to wait, yes I would make my kids wait. I'll put "cuppies" up at my house half an hour or so before I know I have to go somewhere to avoid accidents or multiple potty breaks during the trip (if it's planned - we all know as parents there are many trips unplanned!). Does that make me horrible that either of my DSs will ask for a drink and I tell them no even though I may still have a cup somewhere and might take a drink before I leave? I don't think so. I also put their cups up at 7 so they don't pee the bed. Every night I hear "it's not fair...if I can't have one you can't have one". Do I put my drink up? Nope, I simply say, when you can make it through the night without peeing your bed or wake yourself up to go to the bathroom, you can have a drink whenever you want. I know it's not exactly the same, just trying to find something to compare.

As for the drink, I would think that if she passed it to Mady, another would want a drink, then another and another and on. 1 - I think it's just yucky to share a drink (yes even with my kids) and 2 - passing it around is asking for a mess somewhere IMO. Someone's going to spill it, not going to be happy that it's not their turn, ect.

OT - DS2's foot ISN'T broken :cool1: At least they don't think so. If he's still limping in a week, he has to go back for more x-rays to see if they can find the fracture. I guess I have a peg-leg little man for another week! pirate: Not how I wanted to spent $200 and my morning, but he's ok and I got meds for my crazy cold sores that won't go away so it was worth it! :goodvibes

You really should watch it before commenting. And how long should a child sit quietly with nothing to do (only the little kids had slinkys) under hot lights in a studio before it is ok to want to get a drink or a break or go play while the mom talks to another adult? I don't blame Mady one bit for whining, and she is not being horrible. She asks for water several times. A drink, it's not an unreasonable request. Watch how Kate never ever looks at her. Or touches her....she is sitting inches from Mady and the other kids wouldn't have even noticed if she took a quick drink like her mom did. They are working. The interview is of no benefit to them.

Glad the foot's not broken!

Kate was wrong how she handled the water incident. I'm sure those studio lights were hot and who knows how early in the morning they arrived for the interview. I wonder what Kate would of done if Mady actually passed out from the heat?? Probably just keep on talking like nothing happened.
Sure seems like if she isn't getting Starbucks, she's gassing up!!! Why didn't she just wait in the car and have the bodyguard do it--oh wait, then how would the "p" people get a good shot at her.

It is not child abuse or neglect by any stretch but is SO un-nurturing and so un-motherly. Kate seems to not think about water for herself at all until Mady's continued requests. Then a lightbulb goes off, she asks for water and drinks it in front of the kid! She continues to ignore Mady as she puts it on the floor. Then she half heartedly acts like she's going to give her a drink and ...oops out of time! Then she asks about those dumb Olive Garden cups they have been drinking out of for a solid year. Give the kids a water bottle. Preferably their own pink or blue Nalgene since you are so "green." And like someone said earlier, so what if they had water while the cameras were rolling? I know it's not a matter of survival as some have pointed out, but it is so, so thoughtless.

This is a TV show. TLC wants to do a show on the kids and crooked houses. Maybe TLC paid for them, maybe they were donated. I don't care. I just want to see the kids have fun with them. The company can donate them if they wish for the placement value. That's what companies do. Maybe this company also donates to charities. I have no idea what one has to do with the other.

I assume the houses are going where they are going, because that is where the kids play..where there is a driveway to ride their various bikes/cars. Someone else on this thread said that area is pretty blocked in with trees, so maybe that is the best place for privacy. I don't live in the area, so I can't say if it's a good idea or a bad one. I just know that in my neighborhood, as I've said before, we have a ton of kids out front and parents sitting on the stoop watching them. Seldom do the kids play in their back yards. Even the basketball hoops are out on the street.

there are 2 clips .. (they'll start automatically) the first promo in the second clip is pics of Kate spanking Leah...

Kate has always said she's a spanker, so this picture doesn't surprise me... but I have a feeling it will cause quite a reaction. for BOTH sides.

Well, you really shouldn't do that in your front yard when people are taking pictures of you! The alleged back story is that Leah was blowing a whistle and wouldn't stop and Kate was on the phone and couldn't hear. There were lots of witnessess and that may be why the police were called. All conjecture at this time.

I may have to stay away from this one. but Kate's not very bright, is she!?

Wow okay I just saw the clip with the water and it's really cruel. Maddy is asking for something before they are actually shooting, and kate asks for a bottle of water...it LOOKED like she was going to get it for maddy who just asked but then she takes a drink, then puts it down on the chair on the other side from where maddy was. It was almost like teasing her. Then asks to get the kids water after they are done. I don't get that, why can't she share with her child???

this allegedly aired on Entertainment Tonight -- it repeats midnight here, so I'm going to watch or tivo and see what they have to say. I'm reading the same info that you've posted right now, as well as claims that the paparazzi is the ones who called the cops?

I want to see ET for myself before getting completely sucked into this one.

Let us know what you see on ET.

on ET:

it was an open handed spank .. coming after Leah continued to blow a whistle, after Kate asked her to stop. It was hard enough that Leah shrieked and grabbed her bottom afterwards. There are apparently several eyewitnesses who were around the house when it happen. The police came not long after the spanking .. no mention was made about who called them.

the rest of the story was speculation about how Kate might be less patient and could snap (as a parent) quicker.

It was originally reported on one of the rag mags url's that Kate called the police because the paparazzi were encroaching on her property. The trouble with so many boards and so little time is that I can't find it. And even if I found it, I don't realy know who called, just what was originally reported, and that changes on a dime.

As for spanking, we spanked, because in the 'olden days' that's what most of us did. None of my grands have ever been spanked and I'm glad, since I think there are better ways in most instances to deal with ill behaving children, but I wasn't there and don't know the why's and wherefor's. I am curious though. What other kind of spanking is there other than open handed?
