Why is everyone carrying on about the whole water issue? Big deal..it was a water..WOOHOO..get over it!

Are you a parent? It's just that it goes so against every motherly fiber of my being. You take care of child first, then yourself. Child is saying "I haven't had anything to drink all day, I'm going to be dehydrated, I'm so thirsty" Your first motherly instinct is to take care of the child. Even if the child is being dramatic. Something as basic as water. She ignored the child, but realized she was also thirsty, and took care of herself. Never even thought to share a sip of water. Any normal mother would give the child a drink first even if only to quiet a dramatic child and validate that they mattered. As a mother, I can't even imagine what is going through this womans mind at that time, other than "me, me, I, I, gimme, gimme, look at me everyone, what is that annoying noise? oh, that is my thirsty child.....hmm, I'm thirsty too, I think I'll have a sip of water, me, me, me, I, I, I, why is that annoying noicse still there?"

I'm a parent of two wonderful and well adjusted daughters and I really really really think the "water episode" is not as serious as it is made out to be.

She also addressed that no they did not have helmets on, it is not illegal, and they were only going 4 mph.

just because it's legal doesn't mean it's a good idea. but these are people who allow their children to ride their bikes with the helmet hanging off the handle. I expect nothing less. :sad2:

I've never posted here before, but I have to say that Jon annoyed the heck out of me last night. How many times did he say "I never get to get out by myself" and "I live in a house with six women, it's so nice to be with the guys." Umm, you also have three sons, buddy, don't they count? I'm so tired of his Poor Me attitude.

I didn't watch the show yet, but that would bug me too. Parents of little kids DON'T get out...it's a fact of life....then they get older and you can get out more....suck it up Jon!

The interviewer on CBS did NOT ask if Mady liked her Mom or Dad better!!! She asked her (Mady) if she thought her Mom was a good Mom (or doing a good job...forgot which) and Mady hesitated and finally said Yes...but I like Daddy better.

Thank you.

I totally misunderstood and am happy to hear that she didn't ask that question. I guess Mady just felt the need to put that in there.

I dont know that I would have asked Mady is she thought Kate was a good mom right after the water incident though. Even I would have been hesitant. LOL.

all joking aside...thanks for clarifying!

I just thought it was immature on Kate's part... there was no reasoning or explaining with Mady. Kate pretty much ignored Mady's request/whining, there was no reprimand or acknowledgment of any kind. (to be clear, I do not tolerate whining in my own children. It is not unusual to give them a reminder about that when we're out. LOL)

But to ask for the water, take a drink and put it away, and then to finally acknowledge Mady when it was clear she was upset... I just found that to be a poor example. Kate put herself first.

No kidding. He does whine a lot and I'm wondering if it is like Kate said, that he was born with a silver spoon in his mouth. I can say that my 3 girls are 18 months apart and that when my youngest one was born, they were all in either diapers or pull-ups! I was in a fog for the 1st 3 months with all of them just happy when I could grab a shower! I still don't get out as often as I'd like but it just kind of comes with the territory. Now they're getting a bit older and it will be easier to get out more.

For as much as Kate makes me crazy, Jon is certainly no saint. He does act immature and I wonder how much of that contributed to he and Kate's marital issues as well. Personally I couldn't being married to man like that. I need a manly man, know what I mean ladies?;)

I didn't watch last night, but read a couple of reviews online this morning. (not from the blogs, though. I haven't had a chance to get caught up there in a few weeks. LOL) None of the reviews were bad, exactly, but they all say the same .. it was a rehash of the AC episode, the crossover concept is getting old, and it's clear Jon and Kate are O-V-E-R. The kids were cute, as always, but not much of them seen in this episode? And Mady wasn't around at all?

:thumbsup2 I just think Jon doesn't have a clue what being a parent is all about. He seems like the selfish one to me.

I watched both shows last night (replay of OCC and JK8) because I really wanted to see these 2 shows because we used to watch OCC all the time.

Anyway, IMHO, Jon came off as a first class jerk in both episodes. I enjoyed Kate in both and did not see enough of the kids on JK8.

:thumbsup2OMGosh, I can't imagine being married to someone like him. hopefully he can change/grow up for this marriage or for someone else--most of all, for the kids. If he doesn't, the kids will outgrow him in maturity in just a few years!!

And I do know what you mean. If things do not work out for them, I hope next time around kate finds someone who is more "manly". I think she, like me, would be a different person with the right man in her life. And yes, she is often too mean to him and cutting etc. and should own all of that--however, given the right man, all that can certainly change.

I agree with you about the water thing and ppl. are making a much bigger deal out of it than I think it is. Yes, would I as a mom of 2 have tried to give my child water as oppose to me, yes, but we have no idea what all was going on that day, what led to it, what state of mind Kate was in (I'm guessing she has a lot of crap going on, and I'm sure is just on "auto-pilot" a lot.) We don't know what led up to that, we don't know how the other 7 kids would have reacted if only Mady got a drink, we do know that Kate is concerned about spills A LOT,and probably has special cups for the kids as it is, and yes she was the one that was going to be doing the speaking ect. Like I said, would I have done it with my 2 kids, -probably not, but we don't know everything surrounding it, and no I don't think it's that big of a deal, and I really don't think it shows "Kate's character" as only caring about herself. There are many things, I'm sure, I and we all do as parents that an outsider could say was being selfish ect. That's life.

ITA about the helmet thing and the idiotic comment Kate made last nigh. It just made her sound stupid. Generally I'm an anti-Kate basher, but yes the whole mindset is dumb and she sounded like an idiot. She should have been wearing a helmet, if no other reason than to set a good example for her kids, and yes they should be making their kids wear helmets. I don't know why they seem so uneducated about the helmet thing, but yes I agree it's very very stupid and sets a bad example.

It may not be over....I've seen married couples get back together.

I agree. I think Kate married Jon because he asked, she was ready and wanting babies. Now that she's matured, she probably thinks of him as just another one of the kids to boss around. I would bet $ that if she met a strong man who took control, she'd be content. That's just my opinion but for some reason that seems like it could be the case. I wonder if that's the attraction to the bodyguard (if it's true of course!). He looks quite manly and obviously masculine since he's a bodyguard. If you compare him to Jon, Jon looks pretty immature especially now that he's wearing clothing fashioned for teens and young adults!!:rotfl:

The helmet thing is ridiculous. All I could think was that one wrong turn and their heads would be all banged up. So stupid. What made it worse was that she was sitting on a towel on the fender. How slippery do you think that was? So dumb and irresponsible. My step-mom is an operating room nurse and has told us horror stories of bikers who wiped out on the road and were not wearing helmets. My Dad has a Harley and he always always always wears a helmet when riding. Of course he's had 2 brain surgeries too (not related to biking) so he's even more cautious. :thumbsup2

Thay have said if the kids didn't want to be taped they didn't have to be. Maybe Mady didn't want to be.

right, which is as it should be.

I didn't see the show, but the articles I read were unclear about Mady was in last night's episode... which is why I asked.

I saw that next week the kids are getting their crooked houses. I checked out the website for these houses. Here is the link if anyone wants to look at them as well. http://www.kidscrookedhouse.com/Playhouses.aspx

They also have a blog about their appearance on the show. http://www.kidscrookedhouse.com/blog/default.aspx

These are too cute. My kids would have been thrilled. They had one house their dad made them when they were young, but always loved the crooked houses at our local theme park. Heck, what am I saying? I would have been thrilled ot have these for myself LOL.

I just saw an interview with Jon and the interview person asked him about his parents and Kate's.
Jon said his dad died 5 years ago and his mom remarried but she is in his life. He said he talks to her numerous times a day, and he said she just learned to text. But she doesn't want to be part of the taping, she wants her privacy. I'm wondering if the lady that was serving the kids food the other day was Jon's mom. They blurd out her face. And maybe that is why they refuse to say she is the Nanny, when she is actually Jon's mom.

I'll try to find the link. Jon also said Kate's parents are not in their lives. He said there were 5 kids in Kates family and when they turned 18, they were on their own. I know it sounds harsh, but I actually know a lot of families that tell their kids that when they are 18, you are out of the house. I went to h.s. with some students that worked full time on 2nd shift and came to school full time and lived on their own, because parents kicked them out when they turned 18.

We saw a picture of what is thought to be the nanny in the driveway. We were told she is young and Vietnamese. Jon's mom is Korean right? Who knows. Kate is one of six kids I think, so she has five siblings. He never mentions his mom's relationship with Kate or the kids, only with him. Kate's parents were part of their lives until the tups were born. Mady and Cara stayed with them when Kate was in the hospital and pregnant. What a wicked web...
