Madge, I thank you for all the updates you post on this site. I wish you would do a daily newsletter.

thanks Somehow, I think doing a daily newsletter might make my friends worry about how involved I am following this show. LOLOL.

it's funny. last summer, I had a pretty different opinion of things related to Jon and Kate. I was definitely sucked into the drama that their life has become and while I've never been a "hater" (not a fan of that word at all), I was not a fan of Kate, or Jon, for that matter. But I continued to watch the show with my DD .. because she loves watching the kids.

Seeing Kate in person changed a lot for me. Hearing how she treated some (but not all ..) people when she was in town for her appearance made me see things differently. When I read of her "diva-like" attitude, I believe it. But I'm also a realist. I know that TLC and the media has sensationalized this beyond any sort of reality television... and now I follow along, not because I'm a fan or anti-fan, but because I've been sucked into the story for a year. I've invested too much time now to walk away. I want to know how it ends.

And I like this thread, most of the time. Good people here.

Kate said in a People article very early on that their circle has gotten very small and it's filled with their "people" (producers, assistants, etc)

I said very early on that I hoped Jon and Kate had some family or friends looking out for their best interests, financially and emotionally. From interviews Kate has given, that doesn't sound like the case at all.

I kind of don't blame Jon and Kate for their smaller "circle" I mean, Kate's own brother did an interview of her and darling Aunt Jodi loves to chime in.

Can someone help me with the timeline here. I'm seeing pics of Jon w/Mady and Cara at home this week and at the same time they are at the beach w/Kate?

I think Kate's parent were on the show once? I know the subject of the parents have been hashed and rehashed here. I know people have strong feelings on here about how "capable" they are according to Kate as grandparents.. Are they in good health, they must be in their 70's. I wonder did her brother think or say favorable things about them. I understand there are some adult children of alcoholics and such who really do not want a relationship with their parents. That entire part of their life ???

I don't think Kevin addressed their parents in any part of his interview. I have to admit that I didn't watch every segment of what he said, though.. I don't remember seeing it mentioned in any other media accounts.

Kate has said recently that her parents aren't involved because they didn't know how to help. There's a lot of other speculation out there as to what that all implies .. but I do know that Kate has said that her parents don't now how to help.

Kate mentions spending Christmas Eve with her sister in her speech ... the holiday she references was in 2006. There was no mention of any other holidays past or present that they spent together, just the one story where Kate tells of a family her sister knows that needs money, and Kate gives them money, even though they didn't have much .. and then God blessed them with something, I can't remember what, though. A Sam's gift card was sent anonymously, maybe? For the exact same amount that she gave to the other woman in need. I'm pretty sure that was it.

Just got my People mag and it says Jon recently underwent media training. He also says that the show being their life and their life being the show is the hardest part. It says that he is happiest when talking about the kids.
It also has a pic of Kate in her bathing suit (orange one). Have to say this pic looks better than what I saw on the internet. Says that Kater hits the elliptical for 1 hour and 15 min or until she burns 850 calaories. If I wanted to burn that many calories I wouldn't eat!!

from what I can tell .. the twins were at the beach earlier in the trip. There are pics posted from Sunday and the twins are with them. At some point in the last couple of days, they went home for school and are staying with Jon in Pa.

Again Ii thought her dad was a preacher, if he is divorced ,wow. I said once before I am sure there is an unauthorized biography in the works with all the publicity this is getting. Not sure if it will answer any questions but I am sure it is being written.

Preachers do get divorced. Another board said her dad was upset with her because she would not take used cribs from his congregation. I read they didn't match and that was why, but I have no idea of the condition of them or the reason. I also don't know if that is why they don't speak, if in fact they don't. I would be more upset that her dad doesn't speak to her (had to remove the Bible references I had in this spot, so we didn't get shut down) as a preacher, than that he was divorced. Of course I have no idea if any of what I said is really true LOL.

I haven't seen anything saying they are divorced. I think Jon's parents were before his dad's passing, and his mom is or has been re-married.

Thanks. It was prob his then. Makes more sense. You never know what is correct and what isn't on the blog's. Who know's whose parents don't bother with the grands..although I though I thought I read in a few places that it was Kate's parents.

I've camped in several places in Lancaster, I wonder if any of them were theirs.

From what I understand, Kate eats like a rabbit now anyway. She only ever eats salads every time you see her. And she was hesitant to eat that birthday cake at Charm City, but she ate it anyways. That would have just been rude if she didn't.

My dad is a preacher, divorced from my mother and re-married to my step-mother for 25 years now. I get what the OP was saying, too. It seems like preachers would be more likely to make a marriage work, but sometimes (like in my dad's case), it was really not in his control. My mom decided that for him.

Not that its any of my business, really, but what I wouldn't give to know the REAL truth behind the story of her parents!

In a way I can see not wanting to take used cribs. I remember being pregnant with my 1st, MIL had a crib @ her house & my niece threw up in it. I remember thinking, great, now my son will have to sleep in it. Yes, I realize that it gets cleaned. However,in Kate's situation with 6 premies maybe she wanted to be sure they were new & clean - make sense??

Maybe she also wanted to be sure they were safe, bars the right distance apart, lead free, etc. Someone gave me a crib for my third. It looked nice, but I went out and got a new one.

Its too bad that Kate doesn't have a good female friend to talk to. It seems that anyone that was close to her is gone due to her not wanting them around or them just not putting up with her. She just seems very lonely and needy. These mini/seperate trips can't keep happening if the rating continue to drop as they say they are. I kind of feel sorry for her even though she brought this on herself. Jon on the other hand seems to be having the time of his life. If it wasn't for their reality tv show they would be nothing--they have no talent--they just have 8 kids and when people can't relate to them anymore they will be done.

Even if Kate has such a friend with the media frenzy and payouts, she could never trust that the confidance would not be broken for $$$$.

Should I be hiding my head in shame? I've done the same. Given something when we could least afford it (my husband was in his 11th week of a GE strike and because he was a apprentice, we did not get union or unemployment pay, it was Thanksgiving and we had nada) and been rewarded. I was actually rewarded that time many times over for an inexpensive act of kindness (and that's just my belief, your mileage may differ, as to why I was rewarded at that particular time in my life). Now, I won't say I do give for the reward, but it's a very 'unreal' experience when something like this happens. I would share that it happened if I thought it would make people understand me better, see the good in others (the person who gave to me, not that I gave to others) and how I it made me feel. Again, I can't say more..that darn religious rule.
