I'm not hoping for a violation. I'm hoping this new entertainment venue will be regulated in regards to the best interest of the children being filmed for profit. I want a voice for the voiceless.

They are filming 40 episodes this season. A huge amount for any tv show. Huge.

And they still work a lot less hours than child actors are allowed to in PA. So exactly what regulations are you looking for?

Gosh guys, I"m off trying to have fun, come in at night to see you have been 'talking' all day!

Madge, you think the show is edited so we only see happy and smiling children? Are we watching the same show LOL? These kids hit and scream and tattle and whine more than any kids I know. Of course there are a ton of them, so i tmay just seem that way :rotfl:

Does anyone here really believe that article about boarding school and K & J having a more adult series with just them? I found the whole thing to be a joke as soon as I read it. I never expected to come here and see people actually believed it.

I'm glad they are investigating. Maybe that will stop some of those people who are so sure that some law is being broken. Either way, they will stop it if it is, and let it continue if it's not.

Now guys..slow down, please?

the show is edited ... we only see happy and smiling children, because that's what TLC wants us to see .. we have no way to know if they're like that all the time.

Well, child actors are different. They work a certain amount of hours per day till their movie is complete. Then they can go home to relax and escape the theater atmostphere. For J&K's kids, their home is their workplace and not only that, their vacations are as well. It's really 2 very different things. Honestly I don't think it's a normal environment for them. True the tups probably don't know any better since they've been filmed for most of their little lives. Does that make it right though? I just wonder how they're able to have down time...time when they get home from school to enjoy being a kid. Not having to do sit here, look there, say this, do that or whatever else the producer/camera people tell them.

Just for the record I do not care if they find a violation. I think the younger kids enjoy it. They way they interact with the camera and the crew is very cute. I feel like that is the stability in their life. I know it is sad but true

Do you think TLC is going to show a meltdown of one of the younger one's screaming that they don't want to be filmed? Remember when Jon took the kids on a hike in the woods? Jon broke Collins sticks he collected and threw them behind the fence and Collin was hysterical. I'm sure the camera men, didn't stop taping and comfort him. Jon just commented that Collin collects everything, and he don't need more sticks. Collin had no one to go too and you can bet he received no hugs or comfort with the crew. I think the hike through the woods, was one of the worst shows TLC recorded. You know Jon wasn't up for it, and he was probably told to do something by the TLC crew so they had something to tape, besides watching the kids play on the computers, and whatever else they were doing. Weren't the girls mad, that they had to get off the computers? Jon made some lame excuse that they needed to go outside, but you knew he didn't want to either.

------------------

It can't be true.. If it were, I think it would have hit the AP by now..

Great way to give people a heart attack though..

Don't be mad at me C.Ann. I didn't post it. I was just commenting on it. :flower3:

I do think it's edited high on the cute factor. until the recent mess, I think that's what sold the show.

They have 4 days of down time a week.

I used to work at a TV studio. I remember an 11yo Christina Ricci being in a show there. She would come in to work in the morning and be there until 10pm if not later. When they were not working, the kids were getting tutoring or breaks somewhere on set. They weren't going home after a few hours.

To me, it seems better to be at home and be able to rid my bike around and play outside or with my toys than to be cooped up at a studio all day.

Marley & Me Author: Gosselin Situation “A Recipe For A Meltdown”

John Grogan, beloved author of Marley & Me, didn’t let Kate Gosselin off easy when he penned a 2005 article on the mom of eight.

At the time, Grogan was a columnist for the Philadelphia Inquirer and the Gosselin sextuplets had just celebrated their first birthday. In his column, the writer criticized Kate Gosselin’s demand that Medicaid—and taxpayers—continue to pay for the nurse the family referred to as “a second mommy.” (That nurse, Angela Krall, has since publicly painted Kate Gosselin as an ungrateful mom and nightmare of a boss.)

In the article, Grogan admitted that the Gosselins needed help with childcare and called on the community to step in and help with the babies. But he called Kate Gosselin’s request for the state to foot the tab for a paid nurse “ridiculous,” pointing out that the children no longer needed in-home medical care. “The once fragile children are now robust; they do not need a nurse,” he wrote. He then reminded his readers: “Besides, Gosselin is a registered nurse herself.”

During their interview, Gosselin defended her request, telling Grogan that she couldn’t afford to pay a nanny or babysitter “even $6 an hour” on Jon’s income. He asked why, then, she didn’t go back to work herself. Her response? The family van couldn’t hold all eight kids in one trip and they couldn’t afford a bigger one. And if she did work, she said, her paycheck would just end up going to daycare fees. “Welcome to the world of working parents,” Grogan wrote in response.

Grogan also called for the Gosselins to take responsibility for their overwhelming brood. “Gosselin, a registered nurse, knew the risks of taking fertility drugs,” he wrote. “Even after delivering twins on the first go-round, she rolled the dice again. And now she wants the state to pay for her gamble?”

While Grogan said he wanted to feel sympathetic to Kate Gosselin, he said she “radiated a sense of entitlement and inflexibility.” The writer also predicted that the family would face trouble in the future, saying “they have brought upon the makings of a desperate situation” that would be “a recipe for a meltdown.” Looks like Grogan’s prediction has come to pass--Jon and Kate Gosselin have dominated the tabloids in recent weeks as stories about infidelity and marital ******* between the pair continue to surface.

How do we know that they are only filmed 2 days a week? From the recent pictures they are being filmed at least 4-5 days a week. Then if you add vacations, they are filmed the entire time.

I remember watching that episode and feeling really bad for the kids. Jon was so grumpy and you could tell he didn't want to be interacting with the kids that day. It was hard to watch.

I agree, that was a real turning point in the show for me.

I'm only up to page 30 something, so if this is mentioned between 30 and the latest post, forgive me.

The thing that bothered me the most about the show on Memorial Day was when Colin came up to thank his mom for the birthday party. He said Thank You Mom for my birthday, twice and Kate totally ignored him and seemed to be staring into space, or watching something at a distance. It was only when Colin's preschool teacher who was standing next to Kate said, "Oh How Sweet that he is thanking you" or something to that effect, that Kate turned around and paid attention to Colin.

Also, when parking the van at Party City, Kate says "Hurry and get out or the paparrazi will get us" Then she makes a big deal that she doesn't let the kids say the word paparrazi. When one of the boys says "What is paparrazi?

If they want to avoid the paparrazi, why would they have the party in a public park, Why not inside their home?

I also noticed that Carla never spoke to Kate even when Kate asked her, Do we really need two cakes. But Carla was friendly to Jon when helping him get the cake out of his car. That was just interesting to me. Seemed like sides have been chosen, and for a while. ( just my inference)

Kate & Jon quit their jobs to film the show .. so they could be home with their children. That's the reason they gave for quite a while.

So the kids are with Jon out at the bar until 2:00 am? Of course not. And since the woman was supposedly driving his car because he could not....was he waking up at 7:00 am to make the kid's breakfast?

When I think about if it was reversed, and Jon was out promoting a book, doing speaking engagments, etc. and Kate was pictured leaving a bar with another man at 2:00 am.....OMG I cannot even imagine what the response would be!!!!! She would need the Secret Service to protect her. :rotfl:

Maybe she didn't hear him at first...I know I don't always instantly respond to my kids and sometimes I just flat out tune them out because they talk so dang much. ;) I didn't hear anyone else say anything about Colin's thank you...I guess I'll have to watch again.

I noticed it .. it wasn't mentioned here that I saw, I had to skip a few pages here and there :rotfl:

I didn't necessarily think it was that big of a deal that he had to repeat himself for the same reasons Michelle said.

I think the response would be similar.. some people would react strongly for each side of the argument.

You know...now that I think back I think I remember him saying it twice, but like I said before...I don't always listen to my kids the first time.

I just realized you wrote younger ones. I still think they would

Actually yes, We have seen Mady many times say that she does not want to be filmed and running from the camera.

They probably don't. Remember the twins birthday when Mady storming in the house, kicked a balloon and went to her bedroom for a half an hour? She probably got off the bus saw the camera crew and was mad because she knew she would have to "work" from the get go instead of having cake with her family.
