I really didn't follow the time line close, I just read on another board that Kate was told about the interview coming and quickly granted the interview to try and beat them. I don't have anyway of knowing if it's true, just what someone put out there.

How about the fact that Jon was caught with another woman? That made the news before Kevin and Jodi came out with anything. Kate did her interview with People before Kevinand Jodi said a word. This garbage was started by Jon acting like a fool by going out to a bar with Deanna and then further complicated by Kate coming out to say they might split up because they're not on the same page anymore. I don't think Kevin and Jodi helped matters by saying what they did either.

You know, I was thinking. Would it be the worst thing in the world if these two divorced? Perhaps it would be better if Kate found someone more Type A like herself and Jon found someone more laid-back like him. People with whom they are more compatible.

I'm not like YAY divorce, but perhaps it's better for the kids to grow up with happy parents rather than parents who are constantly battling each other, as all reports seem to indicate.

ETA: And they could BOTH have their own reality shows! Double the money, yah!

(Just kidding -- although I do think they would both get one if they wanted it!)

This is so wierd, I always thought Kate changed her whole look to look like Posh Spice. That is probably why she picked on Jon about loosing weight. She probably wanted to do a cover shoot, like the Beckman's did that was for some underwear.

Billy Ray Cyrus sold out his dd and she made him and herself a billionaire?
I'm betting Kate has managers and publicist telling her how much money she can be making. Everyone is having a fit with them getting free things, but they are paid peanuts compared to others in the tv industry.

I was thinking about that today too! I heard her new song on the radio and thought "gosh there's another one who "sold out" their kid and made a mint"...I wish them the best. Hopefully everyone's happy and everything works out for the best in the end - whatever that may be for the family.

As for the TLC previews, I don't think they're going to show a bunch of lovey, hugy stuff. That would totally go against the "first time J&K have been together" previews they've put out. It didn't surprise me to see Jon alone on the couch and Kate alone either....I expected that with they way they've been spinning things as of late.

Well see, the difference there is the Cyrus's actually have a talent. He was a celebrity already. His daughter actually acted and became famous for her own talent.

I was thinking about this earlier in the context of the article from the Detroit appearance...about how Kate seemed snooty and ungracious. I was thinking that probably lots of celebrities present as aloof and unfriendly, maybe even jerky sometimes to the fans. but it's ok, b/c they have a talent, their fans like them and want to hear them sing or watch them act in movies etc. There really IS no talent in being on reality tv. What would be the draw in bringing back a fan you have offended in a speaking engagement where they paid to hear you talk; and then you came off as haughty and not approachable. ? (sorry long sentence!)

They don't really *do* anything, people like them b/c of a certain image of themselves and their lives that may be a complete facade. If you peek behind the curtain, will you still like what you see or does it end the game?

Just to add my $.02 to this, I feel that something happened way before this last crisis. I have posted this before (so maybe this makes it my $.04 ) but Kate seemed to lose all respect for Jon for some reason quite a while ago. We know that Kate can just cut people out of her life, and maybe something major happened to make her look at Jon that way.

After the first 2 seasons or so it seemed that she lost all respect for him - belittled him and humiliated him every chance she got - even during their "couch" interviews.. I don't know "why", but I noticed that a long, long time ago..

I wish they would come out and make an annoucement that they were stepping away from the limelight and concentrating 100% on just being a happy family. I'd like to think it's never too late, but then I have a Disney heart so I always want happy endings.

Ugh, I just saw another clip on TLC for the season premiere...Jon was saying that he feels like he's in prison and doesn't feel so great now and Kate is saying everything she does is for the kids. Then they're shown on the couch together and it was just awful. Kate was sitting as far away from Jon as possible and he looked like he wanted to be somewhere else. What if it is all true, that they are splitting up? I for one would be sad to see that happen. They started out so great and happy together and look where they are now. That little sneak peek was really depressing, I'm thinking maybe they really are going to say they're seperating or something. I know what I'll be doing Monday night.

Haven't seen the clips, but that sounds sad..

If it is true, it truly will just be the America way, of 60% divorce. People change, and grow apart. If we took a poll on the Dis, we'd prob find the same thing. They want different things out of life. IMO Jon has been a whimp since season one. I was pretty surprised they were a couple. I had trouble watching it in the beginning, because I didn't like how either of them treated the other (and I couldn't stand Mady's whining). Jon had to be led to do everything, he just didn't seem to be able to do anything (right or otherwise) on his own. He just didn't listen to how she wanted things to be done, which often (IMO) made sense when there was so much to do. He frustrated me. He used to make remarks just under his breath about Kate. We all see how she treats him, she doesn't hide it at all. She makes remarks like he does, but she does it loudly. I've gotten used to the both of them now, and nothing bothers me. They seem to like how the other one acts, at least up until now. No matter how they have treated each other, I have always seen the love and caring of the kids.
We have had friends where I have wondered why they stay together, they are so different, and I don't feel they treat each other well, But it works for them, and it has worked for Kate and Jon. If you watch the people clip I posted earlier there is another clip you have to click on but it will show you more of seasons 5. Looks like it will be sad. They were as far apart as could be on the new set!!

It is sad that divorce is so prevalent. I guess I'm just still holding out hope that they can step back and remember why they married in the first place. Perhaps it can be worked out, maybe not, I don't know. Coming from a divorced family, it is really really really difficult for kids to accept and come to terms with.

I think the only time I recall is the Toys R Us episode where she was screaming for him in the check-out lane and he was mortified. After he told her how embarassed he was and she was surprised.

I will say that I don't think Jon had to be led to do anything. Kate wants things done a certain way and expects Jon to do it that exact way. I'm not saying that's right or wrong but it's always a good idea to ask nicely rather than snap rudely. Honestly, they did use to fight back and forth...Kate snipping at Jon and then Jon snipping right back at her. That all changed on season 4, at least in my opinion. He looked tired and depressed like the fight was just gone in him. And Kate just looked irritated. Who knows what season 5 will bring.

I hear woman talk to their husbands all the time like that. I know I occasionally catch myself treating DH like one of my kids. Just the other day he was going to take the dogs outside and I HATE when he does because I don't think he watches them well enough. So I said, "don't take them out front!" he said, "why?" then I realized how bossy I was being and I said, "you can take them out front if you want.....you are a grown man and you can do what you want".
