Kate will be on the 700 Club tomorrow. Not sure if it is live or taped. I do know it is taped out in VA though.

she was scheduled to do that last week -- no one knew whether she had done the interview or not.

Oh, you are right! So who are the McCaughey again?
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/McCaughey_septuplets

they used to update yearly with Ladies Home Journal and Ann Curry/NBC did a special. They didn't do that this year. they're from Iowa

The Dilleys used to update through Good Morning America, but it's been a while since I've seen that. They live in Indiana.

looks like she's working as a nurse, now. Also looks like they have a fairly normal life.

The McCaugheys had one child then septuplets (7 at once, right?). They are about 11 1/2 and two have cerebal palsy. Very low profile. They were bombarded with gifts and media at first, town built them a home, Dad quit his job and was encouraged to do the speaking circuit, but didn't like the attention and went back to a blue collar job I think. Ann Curry does a yearly update. One book that I know of called Seven from Heaven or something like that. Probably out back in 99 or so. Can you tell I like multiples? This family seems to have kept it relatively normal for their kids. They are not rich financially but "consider themselves very blessed".

I'm too slow; it's covered.

The Dilley kids were on food network challenge for their 16th birthday cake recently. They had cakes made after an interview and they helped decide which cake they would use at the party.

I saw that too! You know, I completely forgot all about the Dilley's until the host mentioned the name of the family. They were all so sweet and well-mannered. Very normal while they talked about the things they enjoyed. I watched it with my 3 girls and they thought it was so cool that all the kids were the same age!:goodvibes

A few posts ago, someone mentioned something that we don't know. How is Kate flying, commercial or private? I would think that if she were flying commercial someone from the boards would have seen her.:surfweb:

Yahoo has an interesting article concerning J&K +8. It talks about their recent troubles obviously but then goes on to say why people will never look on them the same again....

'Jon & Kate Plus' Tabloid Coverage Equals Trouble
By Lizbeth Scordo | Wednesday, May 6, 2009, 4:32 PM

Whether or not you're a fan of the TLC reality mega-hit "Jon & Kate Plus 8," about a frazzled Pennsylvania couple raising rambunctious twins and sextuplets, you've probably heard the news/gossip/accusations/mudslinging that's been circulating lately. If you haven't been following the tabloid scandal, here's what's going on:

It seems husband Jon Gosselin has been hanging around with women other than his wife Kate. First, Star magazine reported that he was spotted with a couple of college gals at a bar earlier this year. This prompted rumors of divorce and a statement from Jon explaining that he was simply taking photos with fans. The whole ordeal eventually blew over more or less -- just in time for a new Us Weekly report to surface alleging that the 32-year-old father of eight was spotted leaving a bar at 2am (sans wedding ring) with an unidentified woman. This week, a man named Jason Hummel revealed to Us that the woman in the photograph is his sister, Deanna Hummel, a 23-year-old teacher, and that his sister and Jon are having a full-blown affair. As for Jon, he told People magazine that although the late-night ride showed poor judgment, he and Deanna are just friends and he flat-out denied that he's cheating to Entertainment Weekly. Meanwhile, the woman in question told People that she is not having an affair with Jon and that her brother is "shady" and on probation.

And now, a week after the photo of Jon and Deanna surfaced, Kate sat down with Rachael Ray and, according to Us Weekly, told the talk show host that she is staying focused on her kids. "I know that I'm continuing on as I am the best mom I know how to be and that's really where my focus is." Kate also added, "Now going into our fifth season, we have stepped back and realized that it is part of this process, and I always say there's really never any going back. We just need to go forward. That is my new saying -- just keep on marching through this. Just doing what we need to."

Watch a preview of Kate on "Rachael Ray" (segment airs Tuesday, 5/12):

We can't tell you who is telling the truth, but consider yourself caught up.

But whether any, all or none of these allegations are true, the reality (pardon the pun) of the situation is that the world will never look at Jon, Kate, or their famous 8 the same way again. And that's too bad, but as fans know, the original allure of the show has been slipping away for some time now. "Jon & Kate Plus 8" (which actually began as a little special on Discovery Health Network) showed viewers an average middle-class couple dealing with extraordinary circumstances raising eight kids in a three-bedroom house. Everything from grocery shopping to dentist visits to pancake-making was fascinating when done in sets of eight. And if you felt overwhelmed by your two kids at home, well, a half hour with the Gosselins had you feeling relieved you didn't need a van the size of the Love Boat to cart your kids around. Sure, Jon and Kate bickered a lot but what couple wouldn't given their often stressful situation? Viewers came to love the family-friendly series, in part because lots of people could relate to the couple. They had their own national TV show, but they struggled with finances, got into arguments (opinions on the often bossy and brass Kate vary), loved their adorable kids, and did all-American, apple pie kind of stuff like Christmas caroling, attending 4th of July parades and throwing backyard birthday parties.

And then something changed. The Gosselins started getting free trips to posh resorts in Park City and Hawaii. They were on Oprah, Good Morning America and the cover of magazines. They started talking up products during their interviews, moved into a shiny new mansion and (the personal nail in the coffin for me) Jon and Kate were spotted leaving the paparazzi-laden Mr. Chow in Beverly Hills. Slowly they stopped being average Americans who just happened to allow cameras into their house and started being TV stars living that lavish kind of life TV stars get to lead.

And then there's the most serious issue: What kind of effect will this media controversy have on the kids? Some critics, including the non-profit A Minor Consideration, which provides support to current and former child stars, have said for quite some time that all this exposure could not be healthy for the tykes, while Jon and Kate insisted the children loved being on TV.

So that brings us back to the recent accusations. So far all we really have proof of is that Jon has spent time with a woman without his wife. Did Jon cheat? Are he and Kate having marital problems? Will they get divorced? Who knows. Are they having second thoughts about turning their private lives into national entertainment? My guess is yes.

I wonder if that's dependent on what the business is she's doing... whoever is picking up the tab? That's the kind of thing I have no idea about. LOL.

Yeah, as much as I enjoy the show (the kids are ADORABLE) I do miss the older episodes where they do all the simple things at home. While the ones where they go to Hawaii, NYC, etc. are interesting that's not "average." Oh yes, and how they get to go to a Phillies game, sit in a suite, get all kinds of free stuff, and meet the players afterward...how many average people get that kind of treatment? :confused3

I totally agree with this post. Jon & Kate have really been handled with white gloves up until this point. People have laughed off their troubles or put them so high on a pedestal that they aren't used to people that don't find them "inspriational".

I think the minute you start saying "people find us so inspirational" you stop becoming inspirational.

Couldn't have said it better myself!!! ::yes::

I missed all kinds of fun this weekend. Well, I'm caught up now (I think).

Did anyone hear how the birthday/party went this weekend?? Just curious. I thought I'd heard Kate say on one of the shows (maybe went they went to make cupcakes) that Kate said they'd have another "big" birthday this year because the kids didn't want a big birthday that year, hence the going to make cupcakes. I was just wondering what they'd decided on as far as a party.

That article sums it up perfectly.
They lost me when they stopped being a normal family.
Their lifestyle has changed so much and I just cant relate to all the first class trips etc. Even going to a baseball game cant be a simple family outing-its got to be first class all the way. An experience most of us will never have.

Well, I imagine it's also a help, security-wise, to have the kids separated from a large crowd. A single celeb, couple or small family could probably easily throw on a hat and glasses, dress down, etc., but it's hard to hide that many kids. If anyone is truly worried about the kids, they should be fine with the fact that they are in a more controlled environment when at large public events.

Well those are crazy pictures. The cake is tiny, the sign on the door says "spay tanning" and she has a body guard and driver? Full fledged celebs are seen eating, shopping, etc. with their friends and family with no entourage. She looks so happy, huh? The side of their house...oh wow. What did they do for the tups 5th? It seems like they'd do something after last year!? What is Jon doing? Who are his guys? Is he sitting in a field with his hood up? How many people are on their staff? So many questions, so little time left!
