Sorry I'm a Johnny come latley to the thread, meaning this is the first 1 I have read. So sorry if I'm beating that poor dead horse.

As far as the Jon sleeping in the basement. Hey isn't this thread based mostly on rumors and hearsay????:rotfl:

I'm an animal lover, I just get upset when I see that poor dead horse! ;)

Hi, I'm just finding this thread.

I have been watching J & K since the beginning and have been glued to the marathon this weekend (much to my husband's dismay!) b/c it has been raining for the past 2 weeks!!! Anyway, I used to be on the "Kate is so mean and makes Jon feel awful" bandwagon. However, seeing some of these episodes for the millionth time in a different light, I see that there are many times that Jon has a very quiet way of making Kate feel unwanted too. It's definitely a two way street. I feel that sometimes they are more like co-workers completing a job than two people who are supposed to love each other. I can't even begin to pretend to imagine how stressful it is to have eight kids, but I know how crazy I can be with just the two that I have and I know that being a parent to any number of kids is a hard job. I think I have learned this weekend by watching the show, to make sure that I don't treat my DH as my "co-worker" but as the person that I married b/c I love him.

Is today the season premiere?

By the way, Jon's hairplugs have got to go. I kind of feel that Kate and Jon should stay together or at least be civil. I mean, this needs counseling and if there is divorce, the kids need to be cared for the most.

I missed it, what happened? What did they talk about?

Second story on the right is a link from this morning I'm assuming. They basically talked about (on the show) how much harder women are on women (I think they were reading our thread!) and how so much of the attention is focused on Kate when Jon was the one allegedly having the affair. I think TotalSnowWhite was on there this morning! :goodvibes (just kidding of course but it's what I thought she would say - some of the things!)

Is today the season premiere?

Yes tonight at 9 and it's scheduled to run until 10:13 in case you're going to tvio/dvr it it's longer.

I agree, I wish J&K could work it out, maybe they will. There have been several rumors that they are in counseling or are going to go to counseling. I'm not sure if those rumors are true or not but it would be a step in the right direction. I too hope that if they do go the counseling route, that they consider it for Cara & Mady too. They are I'm sure aware of the fact that Mom & Dad are not getting along. Maybe I'm sappy but I would love to see them work this out...I believe that they did love each other, I can't really say about now since so much garbage is flying around BUT they have 8 perfect reasons to at least try. :goodvibes

Oh my gosh! That's so funny!! I should have gotten up and watched it! I'm a Today girl, myself, but GMA must have been in my head!

ETA: You know, I mentioned a couple pages back that the media and marketers use the internet a lot more these days to get a feel for the general population (hence discussing the show here has just as much impact as your ratings getting counted), so I wouldn't be totally surprised if someone was poking around here (or other threads) for GMA.

GMA was right. Society is harder on women. If Jon was traveling all the time nobody would think twice. He used to work outside the home and must have been gone at least 40 hours a week. I don't think anyone kept track of how long he was gone each week like they do with Kate.

He got hair plugs and nobody really seemed to have a problem with it as he was doing something for himself to look and feel better. Kate loses a ton of weight, gets highlights and suddenly she's the Devil.

I sure don't agree with everything they do but I think Kate is damned if she does and damned if she doesn't.

So, today DD and went to the grocery store. We were both going seperate ways and getting different things. She kept the cart, I'd go back and forth. Uh, I seem to be quite a control freak--needing to do things my way, buying the brand that is right. I really had no idea I was like this until I started hearing myself there. Hello? Kate...:rotfl:

OK, so you believe what Jon says about his hair plugs but not what they say about Hannah's headaches?

was the issue of Hannah's migraines addressed on the show? or was it in an interview somewhere else? I did a quick search about it, and everything that comes up is on a message board or blog, as opposed to a direct quote from Jon and/or Kate. Everything I read was alluding to Kate said Hannah has migraines, but I can't find anything where Kate actually said it, LOL .. surely she did, because there is widespread understanding that Hannah has her own room because of the headaches.

I'm pretty sure it was on the show where they discussed room assignments. Both parents were in agreement that it was best for the kids (their room configuration, that is).

Have you seen the tease for tonight's season premier. Jon and kate are sitting on opposite ends of the sofa, as far away from each other as possible, and their body language says alot.

Not entirely true. J&K are projecting an image of themselves as a normal family and are surprised by all the interest in their lives. How many everyday, normal families take trips to Hawaii, get free Gymboree clothes, free appliances, special treatment at events, and so on? They are trying to have their cake and eat it too. By saying they are a normal family, they can relate to nearly their entire fan base. But they sure are enjoying the perks of doing the show which has now launched them into celebrity land. Kate can't be both. She can't be the Mom at home who takes care of the kids (why do they have a nanny then) herself when she's traipsing across the country to promote her book. If she wants to be a working Mom, fine, then the show will have to go because she won't be around for filming and that's not what drew viewers to it in the first place. But it appears she's trying to have both. She should stick to one or the other or at least not say she's just like every other stay at home Mom. They've crossed over into celebrity stardom but still want to cash in on the image that got them there in the first place. So that's precisely why Kate is damned if she does and damned if she doesn't.

No, it isn't. It's been that way since the beginning of the show. There have always been those who would tear apart everything she does (giving donations, accepting donations, sitting and watching her kids play, etc.). The real celebrity and SAHM vs working mom issue hasn't come into play until the last year, moreso the last few months.

See you're famous and you didn't even know it. I guess it pays to go to Disney with Kate! :thumbsup2

I agree women are harder on women in general. I don't think people keep track of Jon as much because his schedule wasn't published as Kate's book tour schedule was so someone would have had to follow him to figure out how often he's gone.

Yes I think Kate's in a mess regardless of what she does at this point. There are always going to be people who LOVE her, HATE her or are somewhere in the middle. Personally I'm in the middle....

I haven't followed any boards about them and only started following here on the second thread so I'm not sure how bad it was in the beginning and I only read here so I can't really comment on that. I could imagine that the more they're out in public (speaking tours, books, ect) brings more attention which means more criticism of them.

that's what I was thinking, because whether you believe the reasoning .. the knowledge is common that was the reason Jon & Kate supplied, as opposed to a rumor floating around the internet.

I guess so. Now I'll be damned if I do and damned if I don't. :rotfl: Why does Michelle never get dragged into the spotlight?!?! She was there, too! :lmao:

Well, here's an example. People were so disgusted that the Gosselins never "gave back." No one knew for a fact that they never donated time, money or tangibles to charities, they just assumed they didn't because they didn't see it on tv. Well, they did a couple of shows where they did give to charities and the same people were harping on it because they gave back on tv just to get the recognition.

Tell me that's not absolutely ridiculous.

I'm not really a huge fan of the show (or Kate, even ). I actually missed the entire second half of last season. I am, however, a fan of logic (and the Expedit bookcase!!), which is why I tend to follow the story and interject when people are being ridiculous and hypocritical (and hypercritical!).
