Jon and Kate Plus 8, Official Thread-Part 3

I think that Kate's tummy tuck was more necessary than Jon's hair plugs. Kate had 6 babies in her stomach at once. Jon just has bad genes.

I agree. I admit to being grossed out when she showed her tummy on tv. I think everyone can agree it was bad! What woman would turn that down? Jon's hair wasn't as bad, but again what man would turn that down?

Because she wakes up super early and wakes up the other kids.

And I think when they moved, she got her own room.

I thought I had also read something about her being prone to seizures or some similar medical necessity.

DMRick,

I am agreeing with your views of Jon. I started out thinking he was a total wuss. While watching this marathon I am seeing he gets his digs in and certainly does make his comments to her, about her etc.
He also gets them in about the kids too. It is really strange how I used to see him so passive and he isn't as passive as I thought. Maybe it is a result of being married to her and hearing all that all the time. Or maybe that is just Jon and that is how they talk to one another.

I'm glad Kate was given a tummy tuck. That was one awful belly!

I think they have been given so much. A lot of it is stuff from other TLC shows which is how the network promotes things and each show. The Gosselins interacting with OCC, Charm City Cakes, Sara Snow, etc. I also do not begrudge their trips or things like Sesame Street, Thomas the Tank Engine etc. either. I'm sure I would have jumped at the chance to do anything special that came my child's way.

And I also think they may have been given so much and they may be too used to it now. From stuff like I mentioned above to the freebies. Often that happens with people. I'll give you an example.
I know a girl who has always been strapped for money. Her husband makes very good money now. She still whines and complains like always though. Why? Because someone may give her something (or at least a discount), that's why.
She has a big enough family that they all could not fit in her car anymore. She needed a van. So, do they go out and do what most of us would do when we needed a van? Nope. She whined and complained about it untilher MIL bought them a van. She wanted a pool--she whined and complained until MIL put in a pool. She needed a bigger house--MIL added on for them. All of this started with small gifts--electric bills, new glasses, lessons for kids (help!help! help!) Now, MIL is paying for college!!! And yes, I see that is MIL's fault for always doing for my friend. She's being taken advantage of and allows it. But now it is expected. My friend has also made the comment that her MIL should buy "them" a beach house to inherit when she dies! I have seen this type of thing happen so many times and it is always a sorry place to be for the "taker". I blame the "giver" but the taker just takes and takes and then, suddenly, they seem to become entitled. I think J&K need to be very careful that they don't become selfish takers when getting all these opportunities and all this stuff.

The funny thing is, those who don't support the show are the ones keeping it in the public eye. They bring more attention to it via internet buzz (including threads like this, blogs, etc.), newspaper articles, letters to the editor, et al.

Generally I would completely agree with this until the recent events. Now even TLC's spinning it and advertising it on every one of their channels (the "everything's falling apart commercial was on countless times last night during Deadliest Catch). I do think during the "slower" times though that us (the general "us" meaning examples listed above) helped to keep the show in the spotlight.

Women, moms especially, are sooooo hard on other women. I mean, we can complain about men, but when it comes to other women, we are so critical.

TOTALLY agree with this! It's SO much easier to point out other's faults and identify with the preceived "underdog" than it is to admit we have a problem or act like the "bad guy". I can totally say that I have my fair share (maybe more than my share) of "Kate moments"!

I have seen this type of thing happen so many times and it is always a sorry place to be for the "taker". I blame the "giver" but the taker just takes and takes and then, suddenly, they seem to become entitled.

Agreed! It's a two way street! :goodvibes

GMA just did their "teaser" for the upcoming "news" this morning and said they have new information on the "scandal" (their word!). Just wanted to give anyone a head's up who might want to watch it.

Happy Memorial Day!!! THANK YOU to all of our armed forces for letting my family be free!! We can never thank you enough!!!:grouphug:

Because she wakes up super early and wakes up the other kids.

I think Hannah got her own room at the new house. Kate haters say it's because she loves Hannah more, and Kate says it's because Hannah gets migraines.

Speaking of "Kate Moments" LOL, yesterday I was watching and DD was in the room on her laptop. We were talking a bit and then I was watching and she was typing. Kate then says something (on the TV) and DD *says* "Shh". I said, "What?" And she started laughing. She said, "I thought that was you but it was Kate on the TV--you all sound a like!" LOL.
Okey-dokey then.

I think it's 2 different girls. Alexis woke up the kids and Hannah got her own room because of headaches?

regarding alexis in the basement, I've seen rumors that
a) it was a cover up for Jon sleeping in the basement
b) both alexis and jon slept in the basement

I was watching some of the marathon on Saturday.

They showed one behind the scenes show where they were talking to J&K about how real the show is, etc.

At one point they were talking about all of the crew, how some of them had been there since the beginning, and how crowded it could get. They showed some shots of Kate telling them to get out of the room, it was too crowded, she hates the lights, etc. Jon was saying how he liked the crew in the house and talking to all of the people. Kind of ironic with what is now going on.

Regardless whether you like Kate or hate her, or whether you like Jon or hate him, I think everyone who is a fan of this show is hoping that they can somehow work it out and make their family work!

I didn't watch the marathon but I remember this. I took it as Kate feeling people are in my house messing it up and are on top of me and Jon being it's people to be social with and if I'm talking to them then I'm not getting yelled at by Kate. But that was my impression and as you can tell I don't like the way Kate speaks to Jon. But that's JMO

Oooh, I so agree with this. I don't understand why women are so mean to each other instead of building them up!:confused3

So many people have talked about Kate's tummy tuck but no mention is made of Jon's hair plugs.

And truly as a Mom of two, if someone offered me a free tummy tuck, I would jump on it!

Jon only got the hair plugs for Kate. He even said so in the show.

Ok I have a kids that gets up early and yes if she shared a room I might move her to the basement. As for Hannah and migraines speaking as a migraine sufferer why haven't we seen one on the show?? :confused3 I mean I can never plan when I'm going to have one, execept in college and I had 1 every day for 9 months :lmao: So I don't really by the Hannah gets migraine thing, call me sinical.

I find the Alxis and Jon slept in the basement intreging weather it's true or not.

I personal don't really feel that no matter what they should stay together. I never thought they had a great marriage to begin with. The way the talk to each other kills me and the kids are right there. Kids don't need a big grand event to prove that mom and dad will be together forever. They need little gestures everyday. Not saying my marriage is perfect but the other day DH and I were hugging and our son was trying to get DH's attention. Then we said oh sorry are we gross. DS said no, you love each other.

:

I hope you're right and poor Hannah doesn't get migraines.

I thought the whole migraine issue/why did Hannah get a room to herself? had been done to death in the last thread (where's the flogging a dead horse smilie when you need it?).

I thought it had been deduced that Alexis tended to wake up really early, and while Leah was OK with that, Hannah would get migraines if she woke up too early. Also Leah and Alexis tended to get on a bit better together.

It was never mentioned Jon was sleeping in the basement - but why not just start another rumour?

TLC will edit this to please themselves - maybe they thought a child suffering from a migraine wasn't entertaining enough and just went with J&K explaining it?

We will probably never know and will continue to debate it ad infinitum.........(insert flogging dead horse smilie here)...

Sorry I'm a Johnny come latley to the thread, meaning this is the first 1 I have read. So sorry if I'm beating that poor dead horse.

As far as the Jon sleeping in the basement. Hey isn't this thread based mostly on rumors and hearsay????:rotfl:

As a migraine sufferer, I hope too that Hannah doesn't! They are very painful. I do remember one episode where they went to Dutch Wonderland and Kate took the girls on spinning turtle ride. After, Hannah was pale and Kate remarked how ill she looked and would get a headache. Totally sounds like me!

I wouldn't want my poor child suffering with a migraine filmed. I'm sure that whenever little "Hanny" got one, Kate dealt with it behind the scenes. I'm sure she took her to a darkened room so she could rest as that is always helpful when a migraine hits.

 I totally went "Kate" yesterday at Costco. We were stocking up on food along with apparently everyone else in our state and I was sooo annoyed. It was crazy crowded. I was asking DH about different food items he would like (frozen ravioli, new coffee, etc) and he said no to everything! So I got all snippy and yelled at him that he could pick out all of our food then since he was being so darn picky! Of course he laughed which made me more irritated and then I calmed down when I realized people were looking.:scared1: So there, I am not perfect ladies!:lmao:

That's how I viewed that episode too. :goodvibes

I can't believe I missed all of Jon's remarks the first time I saw these shows. When he said what his fortune was, about something good being right next to him, Kate thought it was so nice, but then he made a remark that wasn't nice (she was next to him). That was just one..he made little digs all through this show. Was I so concentrated on the kids and Kate that I just didn't hear these things the first time I saw it? He also wasn't all that nice when Kate didn't realize that the Korean items he bought had ice cream in them and should have been in the freezer. He admitted she had only had the rice ones in the past. So why didn't he put them in the freezer, instead of making her feel bad?
He doesn't always talk that nice to the kids either..and he knows he's on TV. I have just found a couple of these shows very interesting. I always htought Kate was very acerbic to him, but I'm clearly seeing it is a two way street.

It's definitely a 2-way street. Jon speaks in a very monochromatic tone, while Kate YELLS ALL THE TIME. I think that's why the things that SHE says get noticed much more, versus the things Jon says.

I think both of them need help. I think the entire family needs help. Help in the form of an intervention by people who would have THEIR best interests at heart, NOT the best interest of TLC.

I think they both have blinders on right now and are in too deep to see that their children's futures might not be as rosy as they hope, due to 2 things: Firstly, the show itself, even if J & K got along just fine. But secondly, due to the things that are being written and talked about, not only about J&K, but the kids too. I don't read anything about this family on the internet except here on the DIS, but to hear that there's a blog dedicated to Hating Mady is just so, so wrong. :sad1:

 yes, I am furniture shopping and showed DH the desk DD found that she really liked on the internet last night. He said, "$399.00??!!" I said, "Fine, from now on YOU can do the furniture shopping." He has no idea how expensive it is because, just like everything else, I do it all!! ;):rotfl: I grocery shop, clothes shop and now furniture shop. If he can find same said article and find it cheaper, more power to him! ;)

From what I see, Jon has said a lot more mean remarks than Kate yelling. I have barely heard her yell at all. Most of the time she talks very calmly in a low voice. Are we watching the same show?

It was never mentioned Jon was sleeping in the basement - but why not just start another rumour?

for the record, I am not starting this rumor.

Jon's living arrangements has been mentioned & discussed all over the internet. This specific rumor was posted on at least two different websites/messages boards I read about the Gosselins... and could have been cross-posted by the same person, for all I know.
