Hey, you still didn't tell me what "YMMV" means!:goodvibes

Your mileage may vary..in other words we may have different opinions :)

We talked aboout this over the weekend as we gathered with relatives. Lots of different opinions, but for the most part, people felt it opens up a lot of opportunities for the kdis, with bonus trips and fun places to go.

I'm still waiting for someone to tell me if they know anything more about their college education. It really appears tome that the state did not offer to pay for it, but only to set up an account if someone would like to give to it.
IMO (in my opinion), college is a very big part of this. College could cost 1 -2 million by the time they are ready to go. Maybe at this tiem, their parents still feel they are protected enough that it's worth it. For other parents, like yourself, it may not be worth it. As I said before, these are not the first kids to go through this, and there have been some very real success stories from kids who have grown up in show business, not just bad stories. It just doesn't seem to be like the kids of the 50's that Paul Peterson talked about.

I've been catching up on some of the episodes I missed during the marathon today. The commercials for tonight's show are really sad and almost disturbing. Anybody have a guess as to what is going to happen?

A little off the current topic...does anyone know which beach it was that they visited in NC? (The one where they saw the wild horses?) It looks beautiful.

I remember wondering the same thing. They went to a lighthouse, so you could probably figure out the general area if you knew what lighthouse it was they went to. I looked it up, but forget it now. Sorry, but I'm sure someone will know.

Well, here's an example. People were so disgusted that the Gosselins never "gave back." No one knew for a fact that they never donated time, money or tangibles to charities, they just assumed they didn't because they didn't see it on tv. Well, they did a couple of shows where they did give to charities and the same people were harping on it because they gave back on tv just to get the recognition.

Tell me that's not absolutely ridiculous.

I'm not really a huge fan of the show (or Kate, even ). I actually missed the entire second half of last season. I am, however, a fan of logic (and the Expedit bookcase!!), which is why I tend to follow the story and interject when people are being ridiculous and hypocritical (and hypercritical!).

I agree about the "giving back". It's hard to see or think that people might actually spend their own money - maybe they could have specifically said something like we bought $xxx and whoever (Kmart, toymaker, whoever) matched our purchase or something....you'll never make everyone happy!

I too am a fan of logic and common sense! :goodvibes

Not that it matters, Kate is continuing to film new episodes:
http://justjared.buzznet.com/2009/05/25/kate-gosselin-rolls-with-ronald-mcdonald/

and we've already discussed the Orange County Chopper filming .. which makes me wonder if Jon is picking and choosing which episodes he wants to be involved with? Orange County Choppers? yes. Kate's Birthday (Charm City Cakes) and the Ronald McDonald House? No. hmmm.....

Is this the Ronald McDonald house by their house that Kate was supposed to speak at this weekend that was cancelled because of the short notice or something like that?? (sorry I can't remember all the details but there was an article here pages back)

Well, in seeing older episodes over the weekend, J&K made their will and the kids weren't getting money until they graduated college or turned 30 so I'm not sure what their plan is as far as college be it a job, scholarships, FASFA, whatever....we'll never know until someone leaks the financial aid paperwork in a few years.:rolleyes1

Considering they're already filming the rest of the episodes for this season, there's no sign of the show stopping any time soon. As for what they'll talk about, it's anyones guess at this point.

No but it was gorgous! I told DH the last time I saw that episode that I wanted to go there! :goodvibes

Can I be the first to put a bet on the odds that we'll hit 250 pages tonight and need to start a new thread??? I'm hoping I'll crash before the show starts but if not I'll be here with y'all. I'd love to just watch it dvr'd so I can get through the commercials. :goodvibes

OK, so you believe what Jon says about his hair plugs but not what they say about Hannah's headaches?

Probibly because I distictly remember Jon saying that and I don't remember Kate saying anything about Hannah's headaches.

It reminds me of the Outer Banks Islands. My Dad lives in NC and we took the boat over to Ocracoke Island and also visited Cape Hatteras. There were lighthouses at both and it's a nice, quiet place to vacation. So I don't know 100% for sure but it did look a lot like the Outer Banks...

I'm not talking about money in their savings accounts, but several said PA offered to pay for their college education, and all I can find, is that PA set up accounts, but it doesn't say they gave them money, or will give them the educations, so I'm wondering if that was a misunderstanding.

Kate and Jon have both said this money will help pay for their college (the money from the show) in the past. I'm not talking about their savings (which you saw, that they won't receive until later in life..I missed that repeat episode this weekend).

Probibly because I distictly remember Jon saying that and I don't remember Kate saying anything about Hannah's headaches.

Hannah gets headaches from lack of sleep basically.
The other kids wake her up to early and then she ends up with a
bad headache. Well that was what I got out of what she said.

it is Corolla NC in the outerbanks.. i love it! very quiet and out of the way.. north of nags head and duck

It was the Outer Bank and one of the realtors for the area have removed the mention of them, because they said with the bad press, it seems to be in poor taste to have them on their site, or something like that. You can find it by googling outer banks and J & K. There is lots of info there, from various sources.

currituck It's my favorite!!! We stay in Corolla like they did, it made me want to go so bad last year but we had to cancel our vacation

GMA was right. Society is harder on women. If Jon was traveling all the time nobody would think twice. He used to work outside the home and must have been gone at least 40 hours a week. I don't think anyone kept track of how long he was gone each week like they do with Kate.

rightly or wrongly until men can physically deliver children society will continue to expect the female to be maternal and have the stronger expectation to bond and care for the children.

my guess is it will be similar to the season finale. a whole lotta nothin'. Seriously .. what can happen that we haven't already seen or heard about in the last week or two? They're continuing to film new episodes, so the show is going on and Jon is included.

I agree... But Jon looks terrible !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yeah Jon looks rough and in parts he was hard to understand. I thought for sure that they'd wait until the very end to "deal" with this....can't wait to see the birthday party!!!

Sorry, but this seems like typical Kate. Throws Jon under the bus. Talks about how HE has help, but never mentions that she does as well. Basically she's going to keep doing what she's doing, whether it means the end of her marriage or not. I really feel like she's choosing the show over her husband. She's known for a long time that he's unhappy, and she just doesn't seem to care.
