There is a thread somewhere. But I really liked the show too.
My dh said, "Makinaw or Makinac Island just received a huge endorsement. The Tourism Industry for Michigan should be thanking Amy.

Heck Yeah! I want to go now. My good friends are from Michigan and keep talking about retiring there and showing everyone on their hand what part of Michigan they're from, yada, yada, yada. But after seeing the two LPBW episodes I totally would love to vacation @ Amy's parents' cabin!

The kids must be on spring break. I know lots of our private schools are on spring break this week and last week. Our private schools don't have to make up all the snow days, and the don't have to have 160 school days that public schools do.

wow! Spring break, already? we don't get ours until March 27, and the next full week. Thankfully, we didn't miss so many days that we have to use ours for make up.

Have to put my two cents in about the dog show. I have no idea if these two things have been discussed because i don't have time to read all the posts.

It struck me wrong when Kate picked up the puppy that "she" fell in love with, but when it gave her a little lick on the nose she yelled "NO, don't lick me! I'm not ready for that yet!!" I mean good grief...it's a puppy, that's what they do.

I also Hated the fact that she told the kids that "the puppies were their Christmas present and not to expect much else!" Come on!! I swear those poor kids get no compassion from their mother whatsoever. She is so cold towards them and I would not like having a mother like that.
I wonder if she is repeating her cycle. Apparently she did not like the way she was raised....In that episode, at the end, I thought it was funny/cute the way the kids said together "Mommy is mean"
I did enjoy Kate moreso in last night episode. She seemed a bit calmer.

My dh said, "Makinaw or Makinac Island just received a huge endorsement. The Tourism Industry for Michigan should be thanking Amy. TLC probably paid for the nite at the Grand Hotel, Amy made the comment that they could never afford to stay there and it always her dream. The hotel is beautiful. They charge $5.00 to walk the front porch and rock on the rockers at the Grand Hotel.
We plan on going there over Labor Day weekend and walking the 5 mile bridge.
I LOVE LPBW. Amy has such a calming voice :) So motherly.

No neighbors stopped by to tell the Gosselins goodbye or wish them well, did they? :lmao:
LPBW was really good last night. Amy stopped by the house she grew up in and took a pic/ hugged the neighors, LP convention, Makinaw(sp?) Island with her parents/kids, etc. :crowded: off topic, so sorry, wrong thread.

Things like that are important, especially to husbands (who they belong to!) and kids; I agree.

I've really never said good bye to my neighbors when we've moved, and I've never gone to say bye to neighbors that move (although in all honesty, I really don't even know when they move until I see new ppl.) I don't know maybe I'm really cold hearted or anti-social, but we really don't and really never have known any of our neighbors. When I was a kid we did, but my mom babysat half of them. I don't know, we always say bye to friends/family, but our neighbors really aren't our friends, unless generally they have kids that play with our kids, but that's only happened once, and then I consider them friends not neighbors:confused3 I don't know, just doesn't seem odd to me, and then again, who really knows if they did/didn't say bye to anyone. We never saw them playing/talking with any neighbor ppl. either when they did live there.

In regards to the dog show last night. Mady crying and having a fit because she could not name it or be the ONLY one to pick out the dog was riduculous. Her then saying she wanted a puppy that LOVED ONLY HER, just shows how spoiled and self absorbed those kids are. I mean come on she is over 8 years old for heavens sake.

I did laugh when the kids called out MOmmy is mean!! Hahaha:lmao:
I don't think they are ready for the responsibility that goes with those dogs or the training that MUST be done. Sad.

I love dogs, and have two of them and it grosses me out when they lick me! EW EW EW!! It's not tolerated in my house (and I have spoiled rotten house dogs). In my house they are taught early on not to lick.

I don't care what Kate and Jon spend their money on or who deserves or wants what. Can we just see something about their kids? The house thing is a little irritating to me. I've moved before and it's a pain no matter what.

I miss the days of the show when they would show real life.

And...I know, I know, if I don't like the show and it irritates me that much don't watch it.

Deb

They did have a couple of real life house shows a while ago and people said they were boring....can't please everyone.

And, raise your hand if you have a bag of old t-shirts somewhere in your house that belonged to your dh from highschool. My kids loved that bag and wore those t-shirts to lots of different things while they were growing up. Especially in h.s. when it was retro days. I sure hope, Jon went back and saved that bag.

My DH doesn't, but I will admit that I have to throw clothes away of his when they get holes because "that's my favorite shirt" and he will wear it with the hole!! He went to work today in a polo with a hole in it....I didn't notice or I would have made him change...(I am Kate). I think I'm going to have to pitch that shirt when it hits the laundry! :rolleyes1

I never said goodbye to any of my neighbors either. I have friends and I have neighbors, but I'm not really "friends" with my neighbors so why would I say goodbye to them when I move? If they were outside and saw the moving truck, then yeah, but to go out of my way, nope.

Maybe Mady will be lucky, one of my dogs pretty much only loves my DH. Seriously for this dog the sun rises and sets on her daddy and he is all that she sees. :lovestruc Nevermind that the rest of us are the ones that feed her, walk her, play with her, She tolerates us and ADORES her daddy!

What kid doesn't call their mommy mean? I know I did.

we've moved twice. one time we just moved, no fanfare. the other time, it was tears and hugs. we were a tight knit bunch on our end of the block, there were tears and hugs every time someone moved. LOL.

I did not think it was weird no one came to say goodbye, for 2 reasons.

1. the neighbors were probably thrilled the Gosselins moved.

2. this was not the big moving day, neighbors could have come by then.

BTW I just moved this weekend, and my neighbor ladies came over to give me a going away basket and asked for my new contact information (we are moving about 25 miles away, but they come to my new city often). They knew I am moving due to divorce (don't get me started), and they started to cry, I told them to stop before I started. We have only known each other for 3 years, but are close.

I never called my mom mean.

I thought it was funny and the kids were being humorous about it.

I like the show but those kids need some discipline and rules. They whine more than the any of the kids I worked with at pre-school or my own kids. Believe me my kids know how to whine but it is not about everything!!

Seriously never never never ever? Because that's amazing.

I just watched last night's show, and here's what I think.

Kate looked orange in the chair, but ok when they showed her in the house, maybe it was the lighting in the chair? :confused3

I totally understand her annoyance at moving and the "stuff" because since I'm retired military and have moved a million times and I HATE the stuff.

I agree with what she said about "if you can live without it for 3 months you can live without it forever". Since we moved so much I am the Queen of throwing stuff away....I hate moving junk that has no use.

I was laughing at Kate telling Jon how to clean out the garage. My DH was in the room half way watching and when Kate was going on and on, DH said, "OMG BLAH BLAH BLAH BLAH BLAH" and started laughing. I know he was picturing me telling him the same thing over and over. :rolleyes1

I can't believe how big the puppies were!! I'm glad they brought them, but if it were me those dogs would have been in the house!

The episode, once again seemed completely contrived. Can't they do something normal like go to visit family, have friends over to see their new house, or go to Cara's soccer game or Mady's violin recital?

When have you seen an episode that included family? And there have been no friends since Jody and Beth were booted off the show. I can't imagine the commotion that filming a soccer game or violin recital would cause. How could Kate get all of those other kids out of the shots?

I am a regular watcher of JON&Kate plus 8, and LOVE the show !
But, for some reason I was unaware that Jody and Beth are no longer part of the show? Are they still friends with Kate? Wasn't one of them a sil?
What happened???

my guess is that they'd blur them or get them to sign agreements. I can't imagine they'd ever film an episode like that, though. And I don't think that I'd want to see it if they did. The show-driven field trips are one thing, but give the kids a chance to be a kid and have something that's their own.

Jodi = Kate's sister in law.
Beth = family friend, book co-author

neither are on the show ... not sure if they're involved with Jon & Kate off camera, anymore.

They've done that on Little People Big World many times. There are some people blurred out, but they have done many soccer games, little people conventions, school dances, etc.

I agree. If it were me, I wouldn't let "my show" film my kids school stuff or sports stuff either. Let them at least be semi-normal sometimes.

Okay, someone find the thread again for me for Little People Big World. Last nites episodes were really good again. LOL. Especially between Amy and Zac. Zac is finally getting more confortable in his interviews and he is finally getting more audio-able. His mumbling used to drive me crazy.

No never did I call my mom mean. That was my sisters job, her and my mom always fought so I tried not to add to the tension.

Do their kids even play sports?? I have seen other kids in plenty of episodes. They are not all blurred out. I have never even heard them talk about outside activities that the kids do. The show is their activity. i enjoyed the Hawaii shows the most. They were so relaxed and kind to each other and they did not show the kids misbehaving much.

Same here! I swear every time I have moved it seems like the "stuff" multiplies! It's like breeding rabbits. You think you have it all packed up and you look and there is another pile waiting to be put in a box. :scared:

I can't believe how big the puppies were!! I'm glad they brought them, but if it were me those dogs would have been in the house!

They are probably not completely house trained yet and they just put them someplace where it didn't matter if they needed to go and an adult was not there to catch them. Besides I think they were safer there then in the house with the kids running around.
