I saw the flinch and it disturbed me. She recoiled, like a dog would when a hand is raised (if they have been hit). That's just what I saw, I'm not commenting on what he does or doesn't do. But thoughts crossed my mind when I saw the flinch. It's possible that something like a tiny branch off the stick was close to her eye when he grabbed it and that's why she did that. We only know what they show us.

My dog does that too, and has never been hit a day in her life.

Because they chose to air the shot of her flinching when Jon took the stick from her. I did not make up the flinch, I saw it and formed thoughts about it based on what I saw. I am allowed to do that, right? I don't know why she flinched, but she did.

I know this is totally off topic, but is any one watching the dateline interview with the octuplet mom? This woman is a wack job. The old pictures they are showing of her look like she's had plastic surgery. Those lips have got to have been injected, and her nose looks totally different. She looks like she's trying to look like Angelina Jolie, and have all the kids too! Only one big diffecnce, Angie's got $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$.

Just my wacky opinion.

Kate has said in speaking engagements (widely reported all over the place, LOL) that she spanks. they choose not to air it on the show.

Then give children without a home your love and care (since that is what she is willing to give that apparently no other mother in the world is ). Angelina didn't go poppin' out 14 kids, she adopted some very lucky children. I totally didn't make the AJ connection until someone mentioned the lips.

Or a four year old could have just been surprised that she got a stick grabbed out of her hands. I was listening to the show while doing other things, so I guess now I'll have to watch it and come back and throw it in the same pile with Gumgate and the bedroom lecture.

Yep, I watched the episode. She was hitting all the other kids with the stick. It should have been taken from her. Should he have grabbed it from her? I don't know. Should he have snapped it in half? Yep, I agree 100% with breaking it. Does it mean that Jon beats his kids because Alexis flinched when he grabbed the stick from her? That's a really serious claim. Perhaps she was just surprised that he would grab it from her. I think people are crossing a very fine line when they start bringing up abuse just from watching a half hour television show.[/QUOTE]

I agree. I was one of the first posters that said something about Jon not being that nice to the kids in this episode, but I by no means meant to imply in any way that I thought it meant he abused his children. I personally have always been a supporter of J&K and I think it's very obvious that they both love their children very much and provide a loving and caring enviroment. I was just stating that I could kinda see where Kate has been coming from, because in the past and I think on this episode she made a comment about him making sure he was nice to the kids, and to me in this episode he seemed very impatient and very frustrated and that he was kinda snapping at the children. I just thought it was a little unexpected to me and it really showed me how much control Kate has with the kids/family in general and she just can put it together better to me, and I think she takes a lot of crap from ppl. because of it.

My kids have been swatted a time or two (not very often, really .. time out works wonders for them) over the gazillion years I've been parenting .. even when I warn them it's coming, they still flinch. LOL.

I'm not sure what you mean. This woman isn't taking in foster children. She as a single, unemployed woman with 6 kids already who decided to have 8 more. People can have as many kids as they want as far as I'm concerned, but going it alone isn't easy, and financially it isn't responsible at all. I know some people just have an entitlement attitude that welfare and foodstamps are there for them to take advantage of, but I, personally, wouldn't have another child, let alone 8, if I needed public assistance to take care of the 6 I already had.

Just my opinion.

I was commenting on how I felt about the flinch and my reaction to it, not whether I think Jon beats his kids. I don't really, but I noticed and I shared.

I would guess that no adoption agency on earth would allow her to adopt based on her current situation. Although in a perfect world it would be great to give kids already brought into the world a loving home.

I have no idea where I saw the comparison .. but there are pictures on the internet somewhere of octomom before, really before (like high school?) and after, then a split screen with Angelina Jolie. It's a little disconcerting how similar she looks to AJ. I'll have to find the site.
