I think it would have been better if they had given gifts or donated without having a show about it. I'm afraid that it really looked like J&K were looking for attaboys or props. Like "look at us, we're giving back"

When they didn't do shows about their charitable contributions they were accused of being selfish and not paying it forward or not giving back to the community etc..... they are damned if the do and damned if they don't

Plus a big part of the episode was bringing awareness to St. Judes, you can't do that if you don't show it. I didn't get the feeling they were doing it for pats on the back. I thought they both seemed very genuine about giving back.

What is up with that shirt and why does it have duct tape over the mouth of the face (character???) on it?

I've always been a bit confused..is the shirt made to look that way or do they have to cover up something for legal reasons?

I respectfully disagree. Having Jon & Kate there raises much money and awareness for St. Jude. As stated upthread, I don't think Jon & Kate necessarily chose this charity to help fundraise... I believe that they were told they were participating. Again, not in a bad way .. I just think that this show was intentionally set up to benefit St. Jude. I didn't get the vibe from the tone of the show that Jon & Kate wanted props for this one.

it's a religious-toned shirt. Something along the lines of ... "if you can't say anything nice ..." and it was shown on air back when the aunt Jodi stuff was at it's peak.

I see what you're saying and as a mom of a cancer survivor, I do believe that it was good to raise awareness. But there was just something about how kate kept going on about giving back. It just seemed a little like overkill to me. I do have to say though that kate really seemed touched by these kids and really seemed to "get" what these parents were telling her about how blessed they are. The parents of the one little girl really hit the nail on the head when they were talking about having a secret. We feel the same way since our child was diagnosed.

Rumors say Jodi isn't on the show because TLC wanted to pay her, and Kate nixed it.

Other rumors say Jodi demanded payment, didn't get it and refused to be filmed.

Jodi's sister (or someone who claims to be her sister) started a blog downing the Gosselins.

Jodi appeared on video saying it was all true.

We don't see them on the show anymore. No one really knows why. We all just like to fight about it. Well, not anymore, really. That was a while ago.

I didn't think she said it was the closest children's hospital, I think she said something like it's the closest hospital that does what they do, meaning they pay for everything and they don't charge the families a dime.

if she was referring to where they live-they have a shriners hospital within about 100 miles. and just to clarify-while st. judes is an awsome organization they do not personaly pay for everything. they will bill insurance and utilize government assitance (they make an effort if a person is not self insured to assist them in aquiring medicaid for covering the cost). i believe that shriners is the only children's HOSPITAL in the u.s. that relies entirely on donations and for which patients never are charged nor their insurance or any government sponsored insurance is billed. st jude's is awsome for what they do, but they are first and primarily a research hospital and as such unless a child falls under some fairly restrictive eligibility criteria they cannot be served.

not bashing st. judes-it just seems that if it was their intent to spotlight a free children's hospital near there own home it would have been nice of them to consider shriners (who will take any and all kids so long as they can benefit from their services they've been a godsend for our dd and a godsend by virtue of not billing our insurance and protecting dd's lifetime benefit cap from being exhausted, something that's quick to do with a criticaly ill or injured child).

And Kate even said at the end of the show something along the lines of they didnt want people to say how great they were because they brought a few toys. She said 'There's a whole lot more to be done and what we did is not even a drop in the bucket of what need to be done" or soemthing like that. I dont feel they were doing it to be selfish or try to paint themselves in a positive light at all.

I read Multiple Blessings and it has given me a new outlook on Kate. Yes I think she is mean to Jon. But I think she's a much nicer and better person that some people portray her to be.

Why in the world would Kate have an issue with Jodi being paid? The cameras were all over her house too.

Sometimes I like Jon and Kate and sometimes they really rub me the wrong way. Oh well... I can always 'vote' with my remote.
