Spring Direct Incentives 2/9-4/27

I think a 5th park is very (very) unlikely. Not so much because of the costs (though that is a reason) but because the typical US vacation is not long enough to justify it. International guests do stay longer, but they are a minority of visitors.

I don't see any reason why they won't keep expanding capacity of the existing parks, whether actually or by replacing low-demand attractions with higher-demand ones that don't have "gaps" in the guests served per day. That's been the plan dating back to (at least) Everest.

And many of the parks have capacity they aren’t even using yet…

Think about at EPCOT how Millenium Village and Wonders of Life are just sitting around empty for example…

That space could be used for something…

I hope that Disney starts to re-assess the notion of a Disney Parks trip… It has started overemphasizing the rides a little too much for my tastes…

Overemphasizing the rides? There is a whole “vibes over rides” subculture out there and they never pay for a Lighting Lane….

I think many of the new developments have arguably done just that---the immersive lands they've built are experiences unto themselves, and while they contain kinetic attractions, that isn't the sum total of the addition. And there have been other straight-up "vibes" additions. And I expect at least three of the four new lands to carry that forward. (I'm not entirely convinced of Monsters Courtyard, but who knows?)

I can easily lose myself in Pandora or Batuu, and New Fantasyland also has a lot to say here. The new central Epcot core is not universally appreciated, but IMO is a solid improvement. There have been show investments---Fantasmic and Mermaid just in Studios---as well as some new events that are really great. The evening DJ in North Epcot is surprisingly fun, for example.

I like you, so I’m going to ignore the North Epcot copyright infringement

I do think that there will be a 5th park, and it will be done on a budget, and it will be called "Florida Adventure". In stubborn Disney fashion, it will repeat all the mistakes of the original California Adventure by only having a handful of rides, way too many concessions, and be based on different Floridian cities.

The park's "lands" will be South Beach (bars), Key West (bars), Clearwater (grouper sandwiches and also bars), Naples (luxury, mini golf), Cape Canaveral (rocket launch nighttime show).

Edit: I think Disney is increasingly dependent on repeat customers and locals. Even if the one-and-done customers skip this park on their one week trip, Disney won't care. They care about revenue growth.
