Carpet episode on right now. Kate said they waited to replace the ugly green carpet until the 6 were potty trained. Makes perfect sense to me.

She just said that they were going to move within the year and it was in their best interest to replace the carpet, especially upstairs when it was many different colors and didn't match.

Did they pee in the floor? Of the living room? I don't care if they replaced the carpet, but what kind of reason is that? They weren't housebreaking puppies. I haven't watched in a while, my kids like to, but do the 4.5 year olds still use potty chairs? scattered everywhere including the van? I hope not. This would be hard to explain during recess.

I think it's a pretty good reason. I potty trained one when I had no carpet and one when I had carpet and trust me, potty training with carpet was alot more stressful. I cleaned up plenty of puddles on the floor, and I can totally see the reason to wait.

I think some people just like to find fault in everything they do.

Kids have accidents and if they are SITTING ON THE FLOOR playing and have an accident "it" will get on the carpet. I agree it made loads of common sense to wait to replace it.

They haven't used the potties in a long time. Last that was said is that they did keep one in the utility room for emergencies and one of the boys went and pooped in it when no one was in the other bathrooms.

As for scattered everywhere...there was 1-2 in the boys bedroom and the rest in the utility room. They certainly weren't scattered everywhere.

HAHAHAHAAAAA! Oh my god, lonstangetrip, that is the funniest thing I've read in quite a few pages!

I've been aware of this show for some time but have only recently started watching it in earnest. I was bummed to find TWoP closed their boards for this show, and it never would have occurred to me to look for it on the DISboards (I usually save the DIS to torture myself by reading everyone's WDW trip reports) - being a DIS member has its privileges!

Put me in the camp that thinks J&K are doing their kids a disservice by televising them - a little privacy, please! However, if they keep renewing their contract I can't wait to see if one of the kids writes a book on what it was like growing up in front of a TV camera.

Okay, I missed that....why did they close the TWoP boards? Just for this episode? :confused3

mookie, too many posters were breaking the rules so they closed it permanently.

I think Mady is a brat. I think she would be like this no matter what.
That's not really fair. Mady does have some behavioral issues, but last night she had the best time at the hula lessons and even on the stage at the luau. I think much of her problem stems from jealousy of the attention given to the 'tups. When she had her one on one day with her parents, she seemed like a totally different child. Cara was a little snippy last night too, but nobody picks her apart like Mady.

I watch the show House Hunters all the time and I don't think some of those families "need" more space either, but in their minds they do and who am I to tell another family how much house they need. That's not up to me to decide.

It was important to do those upgrades for resale value, you must not watch as much HGTV that I do. Not understanding why anyone would be annoyed at that? :confused3
I'm just wondering what the sale price of the Gosselin house will be. I mean, really, the house was previously the home of TLC superstar family Jon and Kate. :rotfl:

I remember one episode of HH where the family was moving (in Hawaii) from one house to another because they wanted a home without stairs because of their one year old child. This was a family of three that was living in a huge mansion. My feeling is, if you can afford it and you want it, more power to ya'.

Remember when Jon was cleaning the floor of the van and talked about all the frozen pee on the floor?

I loved the episode last night. The hula dancing, Joel carrying around and announcing that he had a mic, Alexis chillin' on the boogie board watching the sea turtles, Aedan's "nice to meet you", Leah swimming underwater, etc. Lots of kid shots which is what the show should be about.

ITA....I belive it was the photoshoot episode where Cara was bratty all during the shoot at home but no one here complained about it. Howeve Mady was a bit bratty when they did the studio shoot and people were jumping all over her. IMHO Mady is louder so it draws more attention, but themroe I watch the more I notice that Cara has nearly as many "bratty" episodes.

Actually I'm pretty sure there was an episode where one of the boys did pee on the floor- I'm thinking the living room??? It's been a long time, so I can't remember for sure.

Omg...I saw that one, they had one tiny kid and their house was a huge freaking mansion!! Must be nice!!

I must confess, I've never seen this show. I guess I'm missing something.

agnes!

And, I don't have kids so forgive me, but would you really sell your house because you didn't want stairs for your child? Isn't the child going to grow up and be able to walk up stairs one day? One of the houses they looked at (I think it was the first one) was amazing. They didn't end up buying it because not only were there stairs but the awesome backyard with the pool and the step down to the ocean were a danger as well.

The husband was actually more concerned with finding a house with a garage large enough to house his car collection. :rotfl:

ITA also. I think my carpeted house is why my kids stayed in pull ups for so long. I didn't want pee all over my carpets. There were plenty of times I sent them outside in underpants and they would come in soaked. It's easy to hose down the deck and swing set, not so much the family room or bedroom carpet. Even if my kids start puking the first thing I do is get them away from the carpet. It's usually a quick dash to a toilet or sink via the tile or hardwood.:thumbsup2

I am adding a link that was asked for on the budget board thread, about comments written in 2005 about Jon and Kate. Jon himself is posting (as indicated by his name and conversation...but who really knows I guess!).

http://internetservices.readingeagle.com/blog/mother/archives/2005/05/here_we_go_agai.html

In there somewhere is the comment about then refusing 2 donated minivans until accepting a third. And also about them asking on TV for a 15 passenger van after a piece on the 1st birthday party. Anyway my point is just showing the entitlement that has been there since the babies were born.
Carry on!

If I remember correctly, they mentioned that THEY bought the van and had it customized for their family. They even had an episode where Jon brought it in to have the air conditioning done because they realized it wasn't reaching the kids in the back.

thanks!! :)

I didn't realize there was a second "I'll Rest When I'm Dead" blog entry. I read through about half of one of them back in the summer. Of all the JK8 information out there, I find these blogs from The Reading Eagle back in 2005 to be pretty telling. Kate really rubbed the community the wrong way ... at least some of them. This was long before TLC came onto the scene.

when we moved into our first home, we rented for a month before we closed and it was 100% ours. Through that rental time, I kept my DS in pullups. I was terrified something would happen and the house would fall through and we'd have a pee-stained carpet. LOL.
