I didn't care for the new show. The double set of twins and sextuplets

I only watched about 20 minutes of it. I will say that when I saw them yesterday on a talk show, I thought they were refreshing to watch and not so "perfect" like the Gosselin family. Plus no one was acting like Mady and the parents seemed to like each other and not be condescending towards each other. Just like a normal family.

I agree. They have it harder having 2 extra children AND having a child with special needs - yet there was no yelling, no smacking, no attitudes. Just lots of carefree love and family ife.

I watched the show last night and I have to say that the 2 families are like night and day. I found the parents of 10 children to seem more loving to each other. Now, maybe they aren't that way when cameras are around, but they certainly came off more loving than the Gosselins do on camera.

Hi all ..i know the Hayes family personally and have to say that they are the same way with or without the cameras. They are very close and very loving. Eric and Betty are wonderful parents. My 3 girls' just adore Eric..he is a very nice guy and they think he is just so much fun..lol

A pedicure at a spa is between $42 and $52 dollars for an adult. It is $20 for a child, that does not include skin exfoliation, only filing the toenails, polishing, and putting cream on their legs. I have paid up to $70 for a spa pedicure. At a resort, the prices are even higher than above which is just at a local salon.

well then, imagine the cost of that coming out of pocket for all of the girls!

Maybe I'm wrong but when I watched the wedding episode I assume that everything they are getting there is free... free food, free wedding, free cake, free pedicures, free hair and makeup..... kate's dress was free, that is a given.. what about the clothing for the kids for the wedding? free as well? free snorkling and free golf for jon??? I Mean, I guess it's none of my business and in the grand scheme of things it doesn't really matter.. but I'm just curious if they pay ANYTHING out of pocket.

Did anyone else want to yell at their television and tell this family to not make a "reality television show" or they will turn into monsters?! (maybe monsters is a bit harsh) The Hayes family seem so kind and loving - hope they are still like that in a year.

That depends on your definition of normal. I think a little bantering between spouses is completely normal, as well as "dramatic" moments from kids.

Someone mentioned that TLC only paid for things on filming days for the Roloffs. Maybe same goes?

I didn't really care for the new show, either. It seems like an afterthought. They're not a new situation like the Gosselins were. I don't think they'll be as popular. I also think part of the Gosselins pull is that they're a young, attractive (and even charismatic) couple. And, let's face it, Kate's attitude is why lots of people tune in. I don't see that spark with the new show.

I have taken DNiece for a manacure, and although I let her pick her polish I did object to her first color. There is letting them pick a color and telling them what is inappropriate. I think when Kate told her to pick another one, it was because the color wasn't right for a little girl. Think Bright red.

See, I totally agree, especially when they're getting them to go to a wedding. I guess maybe I'm somewhat of a control freak too (I fully admit it) although I don't think it was out of line for Kate to tell one of the girls the color was a little bright... she still didn't make her use one that she chose, just didn't let her pick anything (matching ect. or not) I don't know just my opinion. I watched the parts of the other show with the 10 kids too, and thought it was okay. -I do wonder how they afford the house they live in, it's gorgous. I really could careless if it was donated, built for them or if they paid for it themselves, but I just wonder if they're going to get the abuse that Jon and Kate do. I hope not, but I'm also happy for the Gosselins and everything they've gotten/get ect.

The only thing that bugged me about the Hayes family was when they mentioned the little girl with special needs being considered a chore. That just really made me sad.

I've said that all along. It's cheaper to let the Gosselins do the advertising than launching a national ad campaign.

I hold fast that I don't care what Kate or Jon get for free. Doesn't concern me and it's no different than what any other celebrity gets. I don't believe they are exploiting their children for their own personal gain.

This week, they replayed the first special, where the kids were 5 and 1 1/2. It was a contrast to the show as it stands today. In any event, I think they will probably only be on for another season or two.

I agree, we are very normal here and there was plenty of "bantering" yesterday when DH tipped the 1000 pound roundbale of hay the wrong way in the pasture and I wanted him to flip it back!! He was NOT happy with me and I can see how alot of people (him included) wouldn't have seen the big deal about flipping it back over, but up on the end they waste so much more of it, so it HAD to be flipped back over.

I guess I'm a lot like Kate, it's my way or the wrong way!!

I would assume that anything connected to the resort/spa was comped. It was listed in the credits.

Ok, so where do we go from here. Hawaii is over and loved it. Still hate that they're getting everything for free and none of us can relate, but still loved looking at everything Hawaii. So, what happens now. Are they back to their house or is it their new house now? Whats in the future for the Gosselin's that we can look forward to?

I'm an avid watcher of Jon and Kate Plus 8 and I just adore Jon he is soo funny and his facial expressions are just priceless sometimes when it comes to the things that Kate says and does. I have a love/hate relationship with Kate cause somedays I can stand her but other times I just really can't tolerate her. It just seems like she is a bit over the time but at times I really can't blame her too much cause with those many kids you can sometimes be a little overboard and reallly over organized but hey what are ya gonna do.
