Considering this PennMommy situation, IMO, Jodi's sister has lost ALOT of credibility.

Once again, bashers - you can't believe everything you read on the internet.

This is so true especially since Jodi's sister was somehow associated with PennMommy.

And I believe she went on record validating her legitimacey.

Wonder if they have relatives/friends in Bakersfield...

I think someone said she had never met PM, but she assured people she was legit. That just makes her stupid. If she knew what was going on, she's as bad as PM. I don't know which she'll choose to portray herself as. If she says nothing, she will be as bad as Jon and Kate. I agree that the silence can become deafening.

Not unusally. We are Christian, attending a very similar church to J&K. We have a Christmas Eve service celebrating the birth of Christ but unless Christmas falls on Sunday--there is no Christmas Day service.

Even so, I still thought they would mention it as an important part of their Christmas traditions, but they didn't......:confused3

That's all.

Be honest. Would you even pay attention to some random person on the street (or on YouTube) offering you budget tips? The whole reason you watched it was because Kate was in it.

Yes, I actually would. For example, on yesterday's Oprah, there were families sharing their budget tips. And real people that actually have to use coupons.
The whole "commercial" seemed totally scripted to me, like she didn't even believe in what she was saying (she seemed bored).

I also still have resrvations about Jodi's sister. :scratchin

Jodi is on the website with a message saying it's all true.

I'm sorry if this was mentioned already, last week one of the coupon inserts that came in my newspaper featured Kate's photo and her budget tips throughout the insert, like each page would have a different money saving tip (things like check your phone bill and see if you are paying for unnecessary services, etc.)

I gotta give her credit, whether you agree with her or not, Kate is really working this! I see a possible clothing line being designed or endorsed...also a line of educational toys in the Gosselins future! Maybe like other posters mentioned, she realizes this won't continue as the kids get older so she wants to get the most out of it while they can.

Could someone give me the quick version of how we know PennMommy is a fake? I just don't have time to read all the blog right now and I am curious!

They do not believe in Santa
So since they don't believe in Santa for religious reason it must all be about kate...

What is the religious sect, that discourages Santa Claus, that the Gosselins are a part of? I'm not familiar with this.

Another poster said that J&K don't "believe" in santa for religious reasons..do you know if that is true?

They go to an Assembly of God church, so yes, that particular denomination does not believe in Santa Clause. Here is some info on it:

Christmas
Christmas is a strange mixture of international religious and folk customs and traditions. December 25 is basically a Christian holiday, commemorating the birth of Jesus, but a secular society tries to replace the religious significance with neutral or even non-Christian symbols and customs. Neither Santa Claus nor Christmas trees have any religious significance for Christians today, though there may be some historical tie between Santa and a religious cleric centuries ago. Decorations of wreaths, candles, holly, stockings by the fireplace, etc., also have no religious significance. The exchanging of gifts is supposed to recall the gifts the wise men brought to the Baby Jesus, but that meaning, even if explained, is usually overlooked. The Santa character functions as a happy, generous, and kind grandfather figure in a way that no personification of deity or biblical characters could do. But if Santa Claus pushes Christ out of Christmas, and much of society elevates Santa and eliminates the Christ of Christmas, we have become a pagan society.

Christian parents have a major responsibility to assure that children recognize the historical, biblical priority of Christ’s birth and the fictitious nature of Santa Claus, Rudolph, and other Christmas creations. Mixing the mythical Santa Claus with the historical Christmas story hardly seems appropriate for the respect that should be given to the salvation gift of God’s only Son. Year-round regular attendance in Sunday school, with reinforcement at home, lets a young child know that the story of Jesus is real and that Santa is a fun thing for one time a year. Every Christian home should have a central reminder, such as a nativity scene, of the real meaning of Christmas. Sharing Christmas with others less fortunate, such as giving groceries and toys, will help young children learn that Christmas is as much giving as receiving.

A special concern about Christmas celebration is the excessive commercialization by the business community. Stores depend on Christmas shoppers for one-fourth of the sales they make during the entire year. What is good for the merchant, though, is often financial debt and hardship for the consumer. Neighbors must outdo neighbors in what they buy for the children. But going into debt that can negatively affect family life for the rest of the year is not the true meaning of Christmas. The true meaning should be a spiritual experience rather than passing around material trinkets.

What is she saying is true? Pennmommy's story? Or the background check that was done on her? There seems to be some credible info. on that woman that shows she was lying and appears to be very disturbed.

Thanks for the information...but it seems to say that Santa is okay if placed in the proper context as a fun thing for once a year and if the true meaning of the holiday is celebrated...

ETA, oh I see now, I had to reread it, I think it means you can have Santa but not treat him as a real person and not tell your kids he is real..he is fictional like Rudolph or Frosty. Okay, I finally got it.

I watched the video of Kate's tips, I can't imagine buying presents for 8 kids. My 2 is more than plenty for me. And yeah I know I know they get tons of freebies, for those of you ready to jump on that bandwagon.
Personally, I think it is great that they get those things. It won't last forever so more power to them being on a budget.

We don't go to an Assembly of God church but we have strong convictions as well with all the commercialism that goes on during Christmas. It is distracting from the true meaning of Christmas and celebrating the birth of Christ. We did however do Santa, I think it is harmless if done in the proper context. We got a card last Christmas that we just loved it was a picture of Santa bowing down to Jesus in the manger. :thumbsup2

Jodi's sister is associated with PennMommy and has not address the fact that she is a fraud. GWOP has deleted all PennMommy's post but no comment about why.

On one of their previous episodes, I remember Kate saying they went to a non denominational church.:confused3

Believe me, I live about 15 mins away from them and have co-workers that attend their church. It is definetly an Assembly of God church. It may be non-denominational because it is not Catholic or Baptist or whatever, but it is Assembly of God. Maybe that is not considered a denomination.

Ok - I'm a little slow this morning; didn't sleep very well last night. But I still don't understand what you're trying to say. Where in Jodi's sister blog is she backing up everything Pennmommy said? Or are you just pointing out that Jodi's sister has said the same things that Pennmommy has said - therefore it all must be true?

Seriously, I'm not trying to be confrontational. Just trying to understand your point. Thanks.

What I'm saying (Jodi's sister's blog) has nothing to do with the Pennmommy site. Jodi gives a video message saying "it's all true", meaning her sister's blog is true. Basically, Jodi's sister's blog goes on to say how Kate treated Jodi.
Jodi was offered money from TLC for helping out - and Kate said NO WAY!

We have a Christmas Eve service but not one on Christmas Day -- unless it is a Sunday.

Kristen

:thumbsup2 .... I grew up Southern Baptist and have friends of many different Christian denominations. None that I know of have a service on Christmas unless it falls on a Sunday.
