Jon and Kate Plus 8 official Thread, Part 2!!

I started watching the video clip of Kate and her holiday tips, and I got restless and stopped watching after a minute. Honestly, this family is starting to bore me. I think I've reached the saturation point.

She's getting too tame! Haha!! It was a lot more interesting when she was smacking her husband around, not caring about her kids and doing 22 minute organic food commercials. :lmao: I actually talked with someone in HR at Whole Foods (his sister is friends with my mom and their dad passed away, so he was here for the funeral), and they love her! Haha!

Seriously, I think they got too much publicity this summer. There was so much drama and speculation floating around that everyone was going over the episodes with a fine tooth comb. You can only do that for so long (unless you're running a blog, I guess) before it all starts to run together. I still like to catch the new episodes and even watch for a while when the marathons are on, but I'm not planning my Mondays around new episodes. Not that I was, but you know...

I still maintain the same POV I had throughout the drama, though.

I'm not sure if this has been discussed yet or not but on gosselinsdonotneedourpity, they are saying Penn Mommy is a scam. Evidently she posted under many alias all with the same IP address. http://gosselinsdonotneedourpity.blogspot.com/2008/10/in-support-of-real-truth.html It really is sickning what some people are doing just to slam the Gosselins.

This just amazes me. There are some truly sick people out there. Now GWoP took down all her posts, but haven't said anything.

IMHO it just goes to show how sick some of the bashers are and why I believe very little if any thing that is a rumor on any of the blogs.

I apologize for having no idea what you are talking about.

Huh...It was a response to your post about is being all about Kate because she didn't mention Santa in the video. Do you not know what you posted?

Does Santa not come to their house? I remember it seeming odd last Christmas there was no discussion of Santa bringing the gifts. Only Mom, Dad and fans. She sure didn't refer to him contributing to Christmas morning in this spot! Kate, kate, kate, kate, kate! She does look cute.

My aunt never discussed Santa with her kids. Growing up, they knew that their mom and dad were the ones that supplied the Christmas presents. Her thinking was, she didn't want to spend all of her money and then give this Santa guy credit for giving presents. :lmao: It was also easy to get the kids to behave. Forget calling or writing to Santa, they knew that their mother controlled the gifts. I didn't know that she did this until I was much older. My cousins never slipped and said anything to my brother, sister and I.

My 5 Kate head shake was in direct response to her "money saving tips sponsored by K-mart!"

The lack of a Santa visit is not very interesting to me, although this tradition IS commonly integrated into Christmas by Christians in America!

The pp's Aunt's reason for no Santa cracked me up! :lmao:

I just watched a portion of the episode where Aunt Jodi gave the kids gum and Kate told one of her little boys (don't know which one) that she was going to throw his teddy bear away because he got some gum on it. The poor little boy was in tears saying that teddy is his buddy. That was just mean, mean, mean to do that to a child. You can't take their teddy bear away. I used to like this show but it was painful to watch Kate tell him that the bear was going in the trash. In the end I think she gave it back to him, but soooooo mean and so unnecessary to do to a child. Sorry for the rant, it just made me angry.

I can't believe she would actually shop at K Mart since she turned her nose up at the offerings of clothes & items from Wal Mart.
Yeah, it's easy for her to "budget" when she gets many freebies.
I'd like to hear some tips from someone "real" that truly knows what it means to budget, not a high paying reality TV star.

Haven't watched it. Are the tips legitimate? Are they helpful? If so, why does it matter who's delivering them? Lots of (millionaire) celebs talk about budget this or that. Rachel Ray comes to mind off hand. There's a large demographic that does relate to Kate, so it makes perfect sense that she would do a little blurb here or there regarding parenting, housekeeping, budgeting, etc. There was a time when they didn't have all the money they do now and surely they have some tips from that time to share (though I imagine the tips in a promo come from a writer).

Be honest. Would you even pay attention to some random person on the street (or on YouTube) offering you budget tips? The whole reason you watched it was because Kate was in it.

I think this video is why people get frustrated with Kate, at least partially. She just won't stop pretending they have issues with money. Why does she feel the need to pretend not to have plenty?

OK, I broke down and watched it. I didn't see where she's pretending they have no money. She talked about having a budget. The rich don't get richer by spending all they have. Even if they do get freebies, they can't possibly get everything for free.

She's also got to know the money will come to an end at some point. It will be so much easier for them to stretch their money (possibly until the kids are out of the house, even beyond) if they continue to live on a budget. I see it as smart financial planning.

On that note, I've got Christmas (and probably the next birthday or two) done for all the under 12 set in our family. Thank you Target 75% off toy clearance!! :dance3: See, she does have some good tips. Granted they're not new, but still good.

There are a few fan blogs that have the Good House Keeping cover up like the one below. Its in yesterdays post. Also yes, GDNNOP have found 100% proof that PennMommy was a total scam. You gotta read all that they found it is incredible. So sad that people were actually going to send this person money to cover hospital costs!

That's just weird. I only read the first few entries, but that person had to sit and think up those stories. The yogurt thing? Who has that kind of time on his/her hands? Strange. It must be the cynic in me, but I always thought she/he was a fake. I also still have resrvations about Jodi's sister. :scratchin

Count me as one that was surprised to find Penn Mommy a fake! She even faked her sons death. She went to great lengths just to bash the Gosselins. The matching IP address really tells how messed up she is.

They do not believe in Santa
So since they don't believe in Santa for religious reason it must all be about kate kate kate....sure whatever

I was wondering something else about their Christmas observance shown on the Christmas episode...they got up, opened gifts (in a very organized manner, I must say!) and then had the special breakfast of cinnamon rolls, then Kate talked about how they spend the day in their pajamas, relaxing and enjoying the day together. There was no mention of attending church services...do they not do that? I thought most Christian religions had a Christmas service. I didn't expect them to show it, but since their religion is important to them and they even made a Nativity gingerbread scene, I thought they would have at least mentioned it if it was part of their tradition of what they do on Christmas? :confused3

We have a Christmas Eve service but not one on Christmas Day -- unless it is a Sunday.

Considering this PennMommy situation, IMO, Jodi's sister has lost ALOT of credibility.

Once again, bashers - you can't believe everything you read on the internet.

That Good Housekeeping cover looks great! Everyone looks good in it!

Yes it did come out great! It's so nice to even see Mady giggling in the pic. The photographer did a great job.

Not unusally. We are Christian, attending a very similar church to J&K. We have a Christmas Eve service celebrating the birth of Christ but unless Christmas falls on Sunday--there is no Christmas Day service.
