Last night I was privileged to attend the 11th annual Johnny Ramone Tribute held at Hollywood Forever Cemetary. Its aims are to raise both awareness and money for cancer research. As many of you may know, Johnny was a founding member of lenendary punk band The Ramones. The Warriors is a classic '70s cult film about a street gang from Coney Island that attends an all-gang, citywide gang meeting. But when the charismatic meeting-leader Cyrus is murdered, The Warriors are blamed and they have to fight their way all the way back to Coney Island, meeting all manner of resistance as they went. I got press credentials and got to meet Michael Beck who starred in The Warriors as Swan as well as Linda Ramone who organizes the event and is the widow of Johnny Ramone. Hollywood Forever is a popular place in Hollywood to screen movies. People come in droves and the events are often sold out. Last night certainly there were thousand of people in attendance. Here are a few pics.
My credentials.

Me with Michael Beck who starred in The Warriors as Swan. Totally nice guy.

Linda Ramone -- really cool lady.

Michael with Joel Weiss (who played a member of the Rogue gang -- right-hand man to Luther who's famous for his "Warriors... come out to playyyy" chant as he rattled three empty beer bottles with three fingers -- and Walter Hill, who directed the film. He's directed a number of others such as one of my favorites from the '80s: 48 Hours.
