Was there a need for that?

No there was not......

I'm so glad there are some of us without sin

RIP John and many prayers and blessings to your family

and hope that all his children and his family find comfort in knowing that he was so well loved by many...

RIP Mr.Ritter you will be missed...

and negative comments factual or not have no business in a post like this one...as my Ddeparted Grandmother used to say "if you don't have something nice to say....then don't say anything!"

I haven't read all 7 pages of this thread, but I also wanted to point out that Country music legend Johnny Cash also passed away, a very sad sad day for all involved!! My prayers and thoughts go out to both families!!

I heard it on a radio show this morning going to school, NOT a good way to start your day. I had to check and make sure I had heard it right. I felt like crying. Whenever I wake up late at night, I turn on Three's Company.:) I also love 8 Simple Rules. I will truly miss him, he was an extremely talented man and very kind too.

Also, I will miss Johnny Cash, another great.

GG has the right to her own opinion, let it go people. :)

I remember that episode of the The Cosby Show. That was one of the classic episodes of The Cosby Show. I honestly don't remember seeing him on Law and Order. I was truly shocked this morning when I heard it on the news. I watch Three's Company on the weekends. It was a classic show.

I am like some of the other posters, I tend not to worry or pay attention to the details of a someone's personal life. After all, it is PERSONAL and none of my business. He was a human being and subject to the same faults that many of us have. And he will be missed by many.

I loved his character Jack Tripper. Remember the guest spot he had on The Cosby Show, playing the husband of a pregnant wife who tried to have the perfect pregancy and labor??? It was hysterical...I'm pretty sure the actress that played his wife in that episode IS his real wife. Such a loss...:(

What terrible news! I am really just shocked! I absolutely adore 8 Simple Rules, it is my favorite show!

He will definitely be missed!:(

GoofyGirl is allowed her opinion of John Ritter,
And I'd like to remind you, Laura, that I am allowed MY opinion of goofygirl, as well (which, I believe, is shared by many others here also).

Perhaps you should take a chill pill.

So sad. I am 2 years older than John Ritter was. Boy did that make me think. I know it's trite, but we should all enjoy every day that we have.

When I'm putting off something really fun (like a trip to WDW) for "later", I think I'll consider that there might not be a later.

Of course I have a brand new PAP and a trip planned for October and one for December so I guess I'm not delaying too much.

Perhaps when YOU die, goofygirl, instead of remembering you with fondness, someone will say, "She was a nasty, mean spirited child-hater, whose obsession with cats bordered on beastiality, and who never had anything good to say about anyone."

Gee, now THAT is a mature response!

The beastiality part was especially a lame remark. Just because I love my cats does not mean I have sex with them, for heavens sakes!!!

And to tell you the truth, I don't care what you or anyone else says after I'm dead. I'll be DEAD, so I'm not going to know the difference what anyone is saying about me!

Shouldn't you set a good example as a parent for your children and refrain from being nasty to people on a message board? You wouldn't want your kids doing this, would you?

or WOULD you???

(thank you, Laura!)

you guys, this was meant to inform about a well liked actor who died, something that made people sad, I don't appreciate it turning into a cat fight, I also don't appreciate negative comments on a thread that is not about that, if you want to talk about whether you thought he was a good person or not, start a new thread, we don't need the negative comments either way on this thread.

I don't believe anyone here was elevating John Ritter to the status of sainthood, GoofyGirl. All these people are doing is paying tribute to a man who made them laugh and shared his talents with them for decades

And YOU are doing that how? By sending obscene PM messages to me? How classy! I'm sure Mr. Ritter would be proud!

I got in a debate once on a board about the death of Kurt Cobain and how tragic it was, and everyone got on me for mourning his death cuz he was a wife beater and drug addict.

Death is a tragic thing. And I think John Ritter will be greatly missed by his fans and his family. It is always sad when someone loses their dad, saint or no.

I absolutely loved this man. He was so funny. I really loved his new show, very creative. I was reading about it in the paper yesterday, and they commented that ABC has no idea what they are going to do as of yet with the series. They were thinking that maybe they'll show reruns for the next month, then do the three new shows that he just finished for the new season, then they will have a tribute to John on the last show. They couldn't see replacing him, he was too much of a key character to this show.

How sad. I'll miss seeing him. I'm sure the cast is completely devastated. :(

I read a little about it, too. They really can't replace him, he apparently was too central to the show and its success. I never watched it myself, but from the little I know about it I don't see how they can continue. It's really a shame, too. I mean, the cast and crew probably feels they lost a friend, and on top of that, they all have to get new jobs!:( That's gotta be hard on all of them.

The whole thing reminds me of Sergei Grinkov -- the figure skater -- one minute he's practicing with this partner on ice and wife Ekaterina Gordeeva and the next minute, he's dying of an undetected heart ailment. And he was an athlete! It really makes you stop and think how you should live your life to the fullest, because you never know what's around the corner. A heart ailment, a bus could flatten you, or something good like winning the lottery or finding the man of your dreams. That's life. Don't sweat the small stuff, I say:)

GG- oh my God!! Do you mean to tell me that John Ritter was human just like we all are?? We all make mistakes, we all have regrets, just like I'm sure you do. Not one person here said he was perfect!

No one ever said anything about him being a saint or not being a saint, just you!

It's a shame you had to post it on this thread or say anything about it at all, the man just died. If you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything!!

I cannot believe the pettiness....I am watching the end of the Waltons episode where John plays the new preacher who gets drunk....and some people want to toss him out. This stupid debate is the same thing. It is obvious to me there was something about him that touches peoples hearts. I do not believe whether or not he was perfect is relevant. I am still very sad about his death. :(

I am posting a link to a tribute...I had forgotten he had been a king of a Mardi Gras parade here. RIP John and my prayers to his family.
