No, Bush is in the White House because the Florida Supreme Court attempted to re-write its states election laws by judicial fiat.

Are we comparing net worth now? Well, other than being useful in a game of trivial pursuit I'm not quite sure of the reason but I'll contribute. Here's a list of the top 10 Senate millionaires.

John Kerry, D-Massachusetts: $163,626,399
Herb Kohl, D-Wisconsin: $111,015,016
John Rockefeller, D -West Virginia: $81,648,018
Jon Corzine, D-New Jersey: $71,035,025
Dianne Feinstein, D-California: $26,377,109
Peter Fitzgerald, R-Illinois: $26,132,013
Frank Lautenberg, D-New Jersey $17,789,018
Bill Frist, R-Tennessee: $15,108,042
John Edwards, D-North Carolina: $12,844,029
Edward Kennedy, D-Massachusetts: $9,905,009

That's a lot of change.

Richard

Did I read this right? The party of the "working class" has 8 of the richest Senators on the Top 10 list? Yea, they can relate to the "working class". And let's see, Kerry married into his money, Kennedy go his from his father's rum-running during prohibition, Edwards got his by raising the cost of healthcare.

Hey! Wait a minute!!! Am I reading this right? The Democratic ticket has TWO of the 10 richest Senators on it? For a combined net worth of over $175MM??? Boy! They can REALLY relate to the working class!!!

I've brought this up once before, but I noticed the picture in your sig. . . .go prove he wasn't elected in 2000. Please. Cause, if you could prove it, maybe he'll be able to run in 2008 and we can vote him in for a third term.

:rotfl: :rotfl:

it would be impossible for them to prove that Gore won b/c every analysis and recount after the election had Bush as the winner - and in fact in many scenarios - he would have won by a larger margin

Here is a quote from a Miami Herald Article analyzing the election:

In fact, a comprehensive review of 64,248 ballots in all 67 Florida counties by The Herald and its parent company, Knight Ridder, in partnership with USA Today, found that Bush's slender margin of 537 votes would have tripled to 1,665 votes under the generous counting standards advocated by Democrat Al Gore.

The newspapers' ballot review was conducted by the public accounting firm BDO Seidman, LLP. It was designed to answer a question asked by many Americans and certain to be examined by historians:

What would have happened if the U.S. Supreme Court had not halted the sweeping recount of undervotes -- ballots without presidential votes detected by counting machines -- ordered by the Florida Supreme Court on Dec. 8, a month after the November election?

The answer: under almost all scenarios, Bush still would have won.

Indeed, in one of the great ironies of the bitter 2000 election, Bush's lead would have vanished only if the recount had been conducted under severely restrictive standards advocated by some Republicans.

Who cares who has more money? None of them can relate to the working class unless Edwards remembers how it was when he grew up. George W Bush can't relate to them either in spite of his "I'm just a country boy from Texas" demeanor.

The incidents or the election practices the "disenfranchized voters" are complaining about happened during the 2000 election--which was, ironically, during the Clinton Administration. It was a joke. . .if it fell flat, okay. The allegations are clearly partisan and seemingly ridiculous.

Further, I meant that the liberals are STILL miffed 4 years later--despite the facts--such as the content of the article Julia and Nick's mom posted.

Bush is in the White House because of a Court Ruling.

Abortion is legal because of a court ruling. . .this must be a problem for you, too?

PS. julia and nick's mom. . .my son used to dress as Steve as often as I could wash the clothes. . .he'd carry the notebook, sit in his thinking chair. .. the whole thing. . . that went on for about a year!

To the original post:

I think it's great that Kerry plugged WDW!!!
It is fantasyland, I've been there over a dozen times.
The comparison between Kerry and Bush's intellect is
fair IMHO. It's not bad to live in fantasyland-just bad
to be POTUS and live there.

Maray-love the song/parody!

I like Fanasyland!

Before this election is over John Kerry's own words my haunt him right into Disney's Haunted Manion. On special nights he can look out over the roof tops and see George having lots of fun.

I put my comments into the quote from Lebjwb surrounded by

*****
my comments.
*****

I apologize for posting the entire quote, but this was just too good to pass up.

I LOVE it when the Democrats keep whining about the 2000 election. I just love it. They are so used to stealing any election that appears to be close and getting away with it, they have come to believe it is their RIGHT to do so.

And they view as a SINISTER PLOT any efforts to OPPOSE them in stealing an election, and the ALSO seem to think that NATURE ITSELF is plotting against them, since they complain about UNIVERSAL truths having effected THEM more than the GOP.

I just LOVE to see my political opponents with egg on their face and drool on their lips and their arms waving in maniacal circles.

God help me, I love it so. <~~~~~ borrowed from Gen Patton about his love for war.

An excerpt from the STATUS REPORT ON PROBE OF ELECTION PRACTICES IN FLORIDA DURING THE 2000 PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION

*****
I won't ask who did this "status report" but I will be willing to bet that it was a group who were LOOKING for every thing they could on ONE side of the issue.
*****

The evidence points to an array of problems, including those in the following categories:

· Key officials anticipated before Election Day, that there would be an increase in levels of voter turnout based upon new voter registration figures, but did not ensure that the precincts in all communities received adequate resources to meet their needs;

*****
how many of these "key officials" were democrat precints? - as I recall, all of the disputed precints were controlled by Democrats - and had been for decades. Were these precints the usually slothfully run Democrat norm? Did they ignore problems until too late?
*****

· At least one unauthorized law enforcement checkpoint was set up on Election Day resulting in complaints that were investigated by the Florida Highway Patrol and the Florida Attorney General;

*****
AT LEAST ONE? <~~~~ laughing hysterically. OK - so in something as massive as a presidential election, people have spent years analyzing every radio call and minute-by-minute activities across the entire state and they have found ONE instance of something that occurred "not by the book" >>????
And on the basis of THIS you make an allegation of irregularity in the voting of an entire STATE? this is beyond stupidity. this is bordering on insanity.

and by the way - what happens at a "law enforcement checkpoint"?? Do YOU get nervous when encountering a law enforcement checkpoint? I don't. In fact I love to see them. Beyond the few minute delay, it makes me feel GOOD that we are looking for criminals.

Does looking for criminals tend to scare away a key Democrat voting bloc?? This seems to be your complaint. You are saying that "law enforcement checkpoints" unfairly scare away CRIMINALS who would have otherwise voted for a DEMOCRAT.

Not a very convincing arguement to us law-abiding folks.
*****

· Non-felons were removed from voter registration rolls based upon unreliable information collected in connection with sweeping, state sponsored felony purge policies;

*****
And how many FELONS were removed?? Is this not your REAL complaint?? That too many FELONS were removed from the voting rolls?

UNLESS - you are demanding perfection in an activity or else don't even try. Is THAT your standard? What you are saying by this silly comment is that = "if you cannot make a list that is PERFECT then don't even try to keep felons from voting."

Now why would you want THAT as a standard unless you feel that the Democrat party really BENEFITS when felons vote.

I say GREAT = if a state tries to actually ENFORCE its laws. Felons cannot vote - we should try to keep them from voting. This is good.
******

· Many African Americans did not cast ballots because they were assigned to polling sites that did not have adequate resources to confirm voting eligibility status;

******
Did the report investigate how many non-African Americans were assigned to polling places that did not have ........ ? Was this not a universal problem??

This is like putting out a report criticizing NOAH because "many African Americans were harmed by hurricane Charlie."

ridiculous
******

· College students and others submitted voter registration applications on a timely basis to persons and agencies responsible for transmitting the applications to the proper officials, but in many instances these applications were not processed in a timely or proper manner under the National Voter Registration Act (“motor-voter law”);

*****
Did the report talk about the handling of applications from military bases in a "timely manner" ??

AND - do you think that ANY government agency is immune from the charge = "did not act in a timely or proper manner"?

THIS is like making the charge that = "college student and others were delayed in getting their vehicle registration renewal because officials did not act in a timely manner."

Again - ridiculous claim
*****

· Many Jewish and elderly voters received defective and complicated ballots that may have produced “overvotes” and “undervotes;”

*****
Are you saying that ONLY Jewish and elderly voters received defective ballots?? If so just HOW do you think the officials knew who was Jewish or elderly?

Are you not saying merely that = "defective ballots existed" and that some people may have gotten them? BUT, I don't recall any issue over DEFECTIVE ballots, so just HOW MANY were there?
Were there 2 or 10 or 70 or 1000 or 100,000? Just how many defective ballots are we talkiing about?

Are you really saying that maybe ONE or TWO ballots were defective? And are you charging that the officials SAVED these ballots for the next JEW who came in? == is THAT your allegationg? We really need more info on this one.

As for the COMPLICATED BALLOT issue. - the same questions arise as with the 'defective ballot' issue except that ALL the ballots were EQUALLY complicated or non-complicated. So why do you say that JEWISH and ELDERLY received these ballots. Could you not with equal outrage said that CUBANS and TRUCK DRIVERS and WASPS received these 'complicated' ballots?

OR - is it your contention that "complicated" ballots, regardless of who receives them, has more detrimental effect on DEMOCRAT voters. That is an insult to your base, unless you are counting on the fact that your base is too stupid to recognize the insult.

Those ballots were only "complicated" to idiots.
*****

· Some polling places were closed early and some polling places were moved without notice;

*****
SOME ?? again how MANY = and WHY??

Just exactly what would YOU do, if something happened that made it impossible to open a planned polling place - you know, like if the polling place had no electricity, or if you discovered that necessary equipment had failed, or if the registration lists had been sent to the wrong precint, or if the officials manning the polling place were ill, or in an accident - or if - or if - or if ........

Just WHAT would you DO?? Would you call off the ENTIRE national election? OR = would you post a notice on the door that said the voting for this precint had been moved to a site 3 blocks away.

AND - just how MANY times did this occur? And did it occur in the rural Panhandle of Florida as often as it did in the ghettos of Miami??
*****

· Old and defective election equipment was found in poor precincts;

*****
This is like saying that "old and defective court houses were found in poor precints."

Just what is wrong with being "old" - at least the voters there are FAMILIAR with how they work.

In FACT, due to these very complaints, these districts have now been given NEW voting apparatus.

And NOW the complaint from the Democrats is = "we don't TRUST these new voting machines (that we complained about not having last time) because our voters don't KNOW HOW to operate them." NOW you are claiming that the "new" equipment is a PLOT to suppress Democrat votes.

You are so COMICAL in your charges.

Now about being DEFECTIVE - Again, I don't recall that this was the crux of the issue. Defective machines of all kinds exist. It is the JOB of the officials to REMOVE them from service when that happens. The precints you are referring to were all run by DEMOCRATs - and had been for DECADES.

SO - you are claiming that a GOP victory in Florida should be REVERSED because DEMOCRATS were guilty of malfeasence of duty.

Makes sense to me - ROFLMAO
******

· Many Haitian Americans and Puerto Rican voters were not provided language assistance when required and requested;

*****
Did the report ALSO find that "many CUBANS or VIETNEMESE or CHINESE were not provided language assistance"

Are you saying that the GOP actually sent language experts into these DEMOCRAT areas to assist the Cubans and Vietnemese?

Or are you just again complaing about DEMOCRAT malfeasence.
*****

· Persons with disabilities faced accessibility difficulties at certain polling sites;

*****
WHAT? - did the GOP go into these DEMOCRAT precints and remove the RAMPS ??

Just exactly what are you talking about??

Isn't it just more Democrat malfeasence?
*****

· Too few poll workers were adequately trained and too few funds were committed to voter education activities;

*****
more Democrat malfeasence.
*****

AT LEAST we can agree with you on ONE thing - DEMOCRATs are more likely to run a dis-functional voting process than the GOP.

I don't like getting involved with these political conflicts, but I wish Kerry would just be quiet. Leave WDW alone- he's out of his league when it comes to that. When will Herman Munster (aka Kerry)learn, WDW may have more fans than maybe Bush. You offend WDW , you just lost alot of people!:D :Pinkbounc

Talk about fantasyland, Mr. Kerry and Ms. Heinz-Kerry have something like 5 mansions, a private jet and he has a butler, plus I'm sure many other things that make him the common man. The guy lives in fantasyland and doesn't even know it.

C'mon now, Dubya isn't exactly poor.....I don't think anyone that ISN'T wealthy can get into the White House. I think this discussion represents how the election is going to be; very close. So get out and vote, folks - KERRY/EDWARDS!

No - I just try to teach one new word a day to Democrats. My acute sense of analysis leads me to think you are referring to the word "malfeasence." If so, allow me to point out that I spelled it incorrectly. It is "malfeasance." I don't want to be accused of trying to spoil a Democrat's vocabulary. I cannot believe I mispelled that FOUR times - must be my age catching up to me. Until I went back and read it, I didn't realize my error. thanks.

However, the word I was REALLY trying to teach Democrats today is "disfunctional." Have fun.

But I AM really cute.

Some even say I am a "hottie" = I have no idea what that means.

thanks again

You guys are kidding? You really can't be offended by this comment. Geez, he didn't put down WDW. He put down Bush. LOL.
