Jodi Arias Trial Part 6, starting with JM Rebuttal April 16

Oohhhh. Yeah, that sounds interesting. Would love to know too...such a cast of characters in this case.

WDW trips? Both of them? Oh, we have a name for people who go twice in a year, and it's not nice. ;) Oops! What I meant to say is...I'm so happy for you! :teeth: And I'd say November...that was our preferred time to go (Thanksgiving morning till Sunday, Universal, then a week out of school for WDW), and then our kids decided their education was more important. Damn kids. Finally got to F&W this past October (now that we're empty nesters)...that whole period of time is great. June I could do without...did a few Augusts when the kids got older. I melt in the heat...it's not pretty. :sad2: Have fun planning! We're waitlisted for October. Have to take a look at that...DH did it, and I think he needs help with it.

Early June's the latest in the summer months I'll go, life's just too precious to be sweating all day long. We're somewhat restricted by Jen's school schedule, but we'll never do Spring break again, lord, where'd all those people come from? LOL I'm hoping she'll break down one year and just take leave in September/October so we can do F&W, I've done it and loved it. I'll keep my fingers crossed for your October waitlist.

We leave for WDW May 9. Does anyone know if the resorts carry HLN so I can catch up at night? Thanks.
Something makes me think they do but I don't know for sure. I'm thinking someone on the DIS knows. Maybe someone on the resorts board has a list of channels.

Watching a DVR'd show from Friday with Mike (not Brooks) and they're discussing sentencing options. Here they are:

Not guilty...obviously she walks :furious:

JODI ARIAS SENTENCING SCENARIOS

If guilty of 1st degree murder

  • we go into an aggravation phase (was the death caused in a cruel manner, did she know Travis would suffer)...the jury will deliberate a second time.
  • jury decides life or death. If they find it was not cruel, they'd vote not guilty and the sentence would be life.
  • if life, judge sets sentencing for 30 - 60 days; JUDGE will decide if she'll ever be eligible for parole...either LWOP or life and eligible for parole in about 25 years.
  • if death (Jodi knew Travis would suffer), then we go into the sentencing phase...the DT would ask for leniency, the jury would deliberate a third time, then she will be sentenced immediately to death (sentenced immediately, not executed immediately). The jury COULD deadlock at this phase, there'd be a mistrial for that phase and there'd be a new jury for that phase only.
If guilty of 2nd degree murder

  • the judge sentences her, to no less than 10 and no more than 22 years. JA would get credit for time served...4 1/2+ years. If the judge sentences on the lighter end, she could be out when she's 40.

Oh, that's hilarious! :rotfl:

Will comment on your other stuff in a bit! DH is vacuuming while I've got an HLN show on and I'm posting here...from the sounds of the vacuum cleaner hitting the furniture, I'm thinking he thinks I should help around here. (Hey, I busted my ptootie yesterday cleaning out the basement! So there!)

I just returned from WDW last week and YES they do carry HLN :) ... I was so happy because I got to watch the trial when we went back to our resort for a rest in the afternoon ... And with HLN's "pause" it worked out pretty well because I didn't miss much of what had already happened ... oh, and btw, the in -room WIFI was also working pretty well that I could also watch via live streaming on my iPad too :) ... And of course, my DIS buddies on this thread kept me up to date too :thumbsup2 ...

ETA - our plane on the way home had DirectTV and I was able to watch the trial on HLN on that too :goodvibes ... Yes, I know - I am a bit addicted to this trial and I need an intervention ;) ...

They do. I watched the jury questions for Jodi during my afternoon breaks in March.

I'm beginning to wonder if my wife disabled HLN when we were there for our honeymoon during the Casey Anthony trial. :scratchin

FYI, I put this in the First Post, in case anyone wants to refer back to it.

Thanks! Hope so...10 day trip, and we haven't done that without the kids. (They're going to be so mad. :teeth: )

When you're in line to enter a park on an extra magic hour morning and there's sweat running down your back, yeah, it's too hot. :crazy2: My DH got sick one trip, in May when it was VERY hot, on our last day after lunch at Fulton's, and we ended up having to get off the plane after boarding because he was in such tough shape, but it was too late to get our luggage off, and had nothing we needed for an overnight (next flight out was the next day)...showered in the morning and put the same clothes on. :crazy2: Lesson learned.
ETA - our plane on the way home had DirectTV and I was able to watch the trial on HLN on that too :goodvibes ... Yes, I know - I am a bit addicted to this trial and I need an intervention ;) ...
Seriously? What airline? From Orlando to...? We take SWA from Providence to Orlando, and we don't get anything. :) Just as well...I sleep both ways.

Grounds for divorce! ;)

United ... From Orlando to Newark ... My DH travels on United all the time and sometimes his flight offers it and sometimes it doesn't ... So needless to say, I was thrilled my flight had it coming home:thumbsup2 ... (My flight going to Orlando didn't have it though) ... That is why I usually like to travel on JetBlue because they offer DirectTV on all of their flights, however, HLN is not on their lineup, so I lucked out this time on United ... :)

DH was telling me that the SWA flight we always take isn't non-stop anymore, and I think JetBlue might be out of Providence now (I half listen to this stuff until I really need to know), so we might look at other airlines. But hopefully by the next time we go anywhere, this trial at least will be over!

You are so right, my friend ::yes:: ... We went during the same week in April last year and the weather was beautiful - low humidity, upper 70's - low 80's during the days, 60's at night ... This year, it was HOT  (well, hot for me :)) - humid, upper 80's during day, humid 70's at night ... I thought to myself, how the heck do people visit during the height of the summer :faint: ...

We usually visit in November or December so I guess I'm just spoiled with usually nice weather ... However, we have gotten caught with some very cold, windy weather during those visits too ... And this past October we got caught with Superstorm Sandy :scared1: and had to cancel our visit all together ... So as we all know, weather is like a box of chocolates, never know whatcha gonna get ;) ... :)

I like JetBlue ... I know they have had their issues with leaving passengers on the tarmac during flight delays and with flight attendants sometimes going a bit cray cray ;), but all in all, my experience with them has been very good ... And they still offer FREE snacks and beverages on their flights, no baggage fee on 1st checked bag, all leathers seats and DirectTV :thumbsup2 ... :)

Oh my word, that sounds just horrible!! :scared:

Jen's last trip with her son some years ago included a large black trash bag because the smaller bags weren't enough. Needless to say, he'll be sitting in another row with my brother on our upcoming trip. :rolleyes1

And uh, no, she just made me a Boston Cream Pie!! :yay:

Oh, you've got that right! I expect it to be warm in Florida, that Spring break we went it started out chilly and windy, but it got better in a day or so. Then we flew back into DFW into a damn snowstorm, with several inches of snow and we were wearing shorts and T-shirts.

I know all of us hope this trial wraps up before too long (with a murder 1 conviction) and I'm going to remember the friends made in this thread, but I'm not going to miss following this trial as closely as we have. :crazy2:

I feel exactly the same. I feel like I spend more time talking about this trial than I do ANYTHING else.

I know my family will be happy when it is over :)

Mare, that post I made about Victoria Washington being Jodi's first PD, she was removed from defending her due to a conflict of interest, it appears she defended someone connected to this case, I'm just curious who it was and what it was about.

:offtopic:

I spent the better part of this day reading park and restaurant info on the DIS.
I can't decide if I'm more excited about our June trip or November trip. :woohoo:

Between June and November, I would prefer November because of the weather. DH and I have two trips planned, but both are long weekends, one is in October for F&W and the other is in December for the christmas spirit!

We are going to Las Vegas in the beginning of June and it will be hot, but we'll be busy gambling, boozing and other non mentionables!lol!

Thanks for sharing. I think the jury's verdict will be 1st degree. I'm concerned about the sentencing phase, and for some reason I believe it will be LWOP. I do think if Arias was a man, there would be no compassion regarding the sentence, but I think as a society we have a much harder time sentencing a woman to DP. My own view is that Arias deserves the DP.

What's a few crazy flight attendants when you can have free snacks, beverages, first bag, and leather seats with DirectTV! Seriously, DH and I are such creatures of habit and we know how to DO SWA, so I hope we still use them. And when their flight attendants are funny, it's great for a laugh. But if we have to switch to JetBlue, I'm glad to hear good things about them!
Bahahahah! We went during wine and food last year (DD and I). It was GREAT!!! I would go again in a heartbeat. Just wish we would have been at an Epcot resort...
We were at BWV for F&W last October and it was wonderful. We sampled all but one or two dishes. We barely ate anywhere else. I'm so mad we didn't plan sooner for this October, but we were up in the air about a couple of things. It's going to be difficult to get anything DVC, much less Epcot resort area.
Oh my word, that sounds just horrible!! :scared:

TMI, but DH's stomach problem wasn't vomiting. So there was no way we could stay on the plane if there were going to be times he couldn't get up out of his seat. And by the time we got on the plane, he felt weak and faint too. They had to take him off in a wheelchair. It was horrible at the time, but we do have fun reminiscing about it! :rotfl:

I agree! I wake up on Monday mornings (or for this week, Tuesday) thinking "Ugh...the trial." I can't stop watching now, but I so want it to be over!

About the verdict...DGD just left, so I went back to watching HLN, and this is what Jingasaurus said at the point where I left off:

"I think even manslaughter may go to the jury. It's never used here I understand but there is a heat of passion manslaughter. So I think one question is will the defense ask for that and will the judge give that."

I agree. What I would want to say to that jury would be to picture their daughter crawling around naked, trying to get away from the man stabbing her, slashing her throat and putting a bullet in her head. Just sayin'.
