Jodi Arias Trial Part 6, starting with JM Rebuttal April 16

Interesting about the gun. That would be so awesome, I'm almost giddy. :) There could possibly be fingerprints too. (After all this time? Who knows.)

Would be awesome if someone did find it and its true :thumbsup2

I don't know coz now on second thought or my 3rd cup of coffee, the Defense could still stick to it's story that the weapon belonged to Travis so it really would have to be tied back to Jodi's grandparents' .25 like lorimay said. I wonder if ol' Grandpa had serial numbers for his weapons. :scratchin

Hi all,

Slowly catching up on all of this. Between the trial, the marathon explosion and the fertilizer plant explosion, I felt like I was in a war zone. Had my surgery last Thursday and have been in and out of a fog ever since. So far no narcotics for pain today, so the fog should be lifting.

It was interesting to hear the nurses in the hospital comment about Jodi. They all think she's guilty and should get the death penalty. This from people who save lives every day.

Back to reading and catching up on life in general. Gotta say I've got the best DH in the world as he's taken over everything this weekend.

Chat later!

If the grandfather registered the gun legally, does the registration have the serial number on it? ... (I have no idea with anything to do with guns) ... :)

News Flash

The gun may have been found!!!!! Someone on the state vs Jodi page said a road crew person found a 25 caliber gun near the hoover damn last year, and just found out about the trial. They turned it over to the police today. He said it was wrapped in toilet paper and in a cactus......The person also indicated their husband was with the person when he found it. Maybe this hearing had something to with it?

OMG OMG OMG, FINGERS CROSSSSSSED TIGHTLY!!!! :thumbsup2

Detective Flores reads them to her in one of the first Jodi Arias Unedited Police Interrogations if you want to see it, but I don't remember which one it's in.

Here's the first one: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vE_Ue5rF8QM

Thanks, UR, I DID watch this when watching all the tapes and had forgotten about it. As things were being discussed (via the media) re: Boston, I was trying to think that the Police in JA's case would be 'all in her face' reading her the rights and instead it was with the very calm Det. Flores. TY for posting that again. :thumbsup2

Arrgghh...quoting isn't working again. Why is that??

Anyway, Kar, who is now long gone from this thread enjoying herself at Universal (*insert jealous smiley here, whatever it may look like :confused3*)...

Thanks for the compliment! I do have some good quoting skills at times. LOL I'll put on my CV.

With all these big tragedies, the one good thing that comes out of them is the overwhelming kindness of others. I think it's wonderful what your son did! I'm sure everyone was grateful to get out of Boston and have a friendly place to go. :grouphug:

I am aware of that Brown University student and that he was something of a suspect. I can't imagine having a child missing. :(

I have a feeling we're all going to be around for a while. Not just for the actual trial, but Jodi's going to stay in the news, one way or another.

Mare, LOL, your 'CV"!!! YAY to being around for AWHILE!!! :goodvibes Many thanks for the nice things you said about my Mike!!! :)

Watching a DVR'd show from Friday with Mike (not Brooks) and they're discussing sentencing options. Here they are:

Not guilty...obviously she walks :furious:

JODI ARIAS SENTENCING SCENARIOS

If guilty of 1st degree murder

  • we go into an aggravation phase (was the death caused in a cruel manner, did she know Travis would suffer)...the jury will deliberate a second time.
  • jury decides life or death. If they find it was not cruel, they'd vote not guilty and the sentence would be life.
  • if life, judge sets sentencing for 30 - 60 days; JUDGE will decide if she'll ever be eligible for parole...either LWOP or life and eligible for parole in about 25 years.
  • if death (Jodi knew Travis would suffer), then we go into the sentencing phase...the DT would ask for leniency, the jury would deliberate a third time, then she will be sentenced immediately to death (sentenced immediately, not executed immediately). The jury COULD deadlock at this phase, there'd be a mistrial for that phase and there'd be a new jury for that phase only.
If guilty of 2nd degree murder

  • the judge sentences her, to no less than 10 and no more than 22 years. JA would get credit for time served...4 1/2+ years. If the judge sentences on the lighter end, she could be out when she's 40.

Thanks for that post, Mare!!! :thumbsup2

About the verdict...DGD just left, so I went back to watching HLN, and this is what Jingasaurus said at the point where I left off:

"I think even manslaughter may go to the jury. It's never used here I understand but there is a heat of passion manslaughter. So I think one question is will the defense ask for that and will the judge give that."

Oh, GAWD, if the DT comes out with THAT, I will be beyond disgusted.

My first post, on the first thread...my, how much we've learned since Jan 2.

Jodi Arias Murder Trial
Not as big as Casey Anthony, but interesting nonetheless. Just started a few minutes ago, in Arizona. She allegedly shot her boyfriend, stabbed him 27 times, and slit his throat. She's cute and sweet sounding, but a lot of his friends/family were not at all surprised that she could do something like that. And there are pictures allegedly taken, before and after the crime, and possibly pictures somehow got taken DURING? :confused3

You can NEVER judge a book by its cover, Mare!!! :rotfl:

SO COURT IS DARK TODAY?

I HOPE THEY ARE GOING OVER THAT HOPEFULLY NEW FOUND GUN!!!

If the grandfather registered the gun legally, does the registration have the serial number on it? ... (I have no idea with anything to do with guns) ... :)

That depends on where or from whom he purchased it, gun shop or private individual.

I saw this when someone posted it on the state vs Jodi page. It was also in a forum about law. They day the woman posted this on the state page was the day that it was turned in to the police. It would be an awesome thing. I am sure Jodi's grandfather could identify it. Her whole deal would really be sunk. I would love to see the look on JW and Nurmi's face.

I don't know coz now on second thought or my 3rd cup of coffee, the Defense could still stick to it's story that the weapon belonged to Travis so it really would have to be tied back to Jodi's grandparents' .25 like lorimay said. If this is really true, I'm hoping those serial numbers are on the police report.

Okay, now this might have some credibility:

I'm hearing a .25 caliber gun was found near Hoover Dam, where Jodi says she disposed of hers, and authorities are checking it out.

I am wondering where he heard this.

Don't know if you guys are watching Wild about trials tweets, but poor wild broke his ankle, hope he heals very quickly. He will still be tweeting.

Yes I did see that. Good for him for being strong! Jodi will be jealous.

Okay, everyone the DT has filed for surrebuttal and a new witness. That means Juan must have new evidence coming in.

Kar, as I was on my way home from errands, the radio station I was listening to paused for a moment of silence. As I was pulling into my driveway, they ended the moment of silence with "Sweet Caroline". Ugh...I lost it.

@VinniePolitan: #JodiAriass wants jury to have the option of "Manslaughter by Sudden Quarrel or Heat of Passion"...papers just filed.

We now change the defense from self defense to a heat of passion. So what new evidence does Juan have for them to change that? That is the only way they can ask for surrebuttal if new evidence comes into play.
