Jodi Arias Trial Part 4, starting with redirect of "expert" Dr Samuels, March 19

I hope this DV expert isn't on the stand as long as the "doctor" was. I guess Wilmott is going to go through every job she's ever had to make her seem like more of an expert. I just want to get to the rebuttal already.

In her interrogation tapes, Jodi says that she didn't have anger issues, but then says "Oh, I kicked a dog once. I was a Freshman in high school and I love love love animals and we had this dog, his name was Doggy Boy and my parents...until this dog that they have now...have never been able to...and I don't mean just them...we as a family have never been able to care for a dog properly as far as give it attention and take it for walks and be consistent. So this dog stayed in the backyard a lot and he stayed tied up on you know in the shade with plenty of leeway. At one point though he was untied and I took the trash out and he...and this was when my little brother and sister were still in diapers...and he tore this, it was the diaper trash, and he tore diapers all over the yard. And of course I had to clean it up and when diapers get wet and they're like jelly, spongy weird stuff and I got mad and I just kicked him with my right foot and he didn't yelp or anything but he just went, and he ran away and I never saw him again."

*edited the OP because they showed more of the video. Wasn't expecting when I started typing what she said that it would be that much.

I can't imagine kicking a dog. :( Nor my mother! And why do I suspect there's more to that dog's disappearance? Not that she killed him (I don't think  ), but...?

Was that pretty much verbatim (sp?)? She adds far too many details so it makes me think that she did a lot more than just kick the dog. Poor thing, probably figured it would have a better life if it could escape. I don't even like dogs and I would never kick one!!! Then again, she killed (brutaly) a person so I'm sure she wouldn't give it a second thought to kill an animal- probably in a brutal fashion. *sigh* why can't life weed out the crazies before things go bad? I WANT A LIFE OF RAINBOWS AND BUTTERFLIES DAMMIT!

I do remember LONG testimony about their qualifications from the experts who testified in the Casey Anthony trial, and there were quite a few more experts. It's a good time to throw in a load of laundry or something. ;) I wondered if I missed anything "important" about Alyce LaViolette's background today, but I decided it was OK if I did. LOL

That was pretty much what she said...they had it on the screen almost verbatim.

The thing I think she's doing when she gives all this information is that she's trying to make herself appear as if she's an open book and telling everything, so if you're not hearing something coming from her, it's because there's nothing to hear. KWIM?

Anyone watch HLN After DarK? They showed in her journal how she no longer believes in the laws of attraction. So if that is so, why not document abuse?

That's probably part of it but I also think people trying to cover up things believe that the more details, the more believable. I watch far too many murder/mystery shows (the real ones, not the CSI ones) and when they play the 911 calls, it's the murderer trying to play it off like it was somebody elses fault and they give a bazillion details. Jodi does seem to think she can outwit anybody though.

My kid just came up to me and told me to fix my bangs because I look like Jodi Hairya*s and she doesnt want anybody confusing us. Sigh...my kid must be blind.

Must have missed that part. I saw the writing that was the same which they said proves her finger was A-OK. Wasn't really paying attention though. I watch and read far too much on this trial. What will my life become once this is over?

It was after the writing issue. I was floored, Hmmmm...I wonder if Juan knows and is going to use it....:rolleyes1

Do you remember the date that she declared that? I believe she also stated to somebody or in her journal or something that she no longer followed the Mormon religion. Of course that happened after his death. Did she give up on the law of attraction BEFORE he died?

:offtopic: Amanda Knox's acquittal has been overturned by the Italian court and she may be retried again. I loosly followed her case and she's another chick that I find very odd. Not sure how I feel about her guilt nor her innocence......

I am not sure if they mentioned a date. It could have been after his death, but not real sure. I was hearing but not paying that close attention.

I just saw that on my AOL mail page! I never followed it, but it just has to be distressing for her to hear that.

I pre ordered the book Picture Perfect from Amazon today. Anyone else? The author must be in the courtroom everyday. Bet we know more than her...lol

The author is Shanna Hogan? It is not available until Oct. I never followed Amanda's trial. Probably because you could not watch it. So I really don't know much about it.

According to JA's blog journal entry that she posted on May 4, 2008, she stopped believing in The Law Of Attraction "6 months ago" ... So that was definitely before TA died ...

Your kid sounds funny! LOL

I think that's part of it too, the bolded. Are you familiar with the Adam Kaufman trial? He was accused of murdering his wife. Long story short, he was found not guilty. I think he did it, partly because of his 911 call...I thought he sounded too fakely frantic and he just kept saying "I don't know what happened" and "she has marks on her neck...I don't know what they are" (not exact quotes). But the prosecution and the detectives really screwed up the case, and I think the verdict was correct in that there wasn't enough evidence, or it was very questionable, to find him guilty.

Real? LOL

Ugh, I'm shocked. Here's another case where I think they screwed up the investigation so much, that they can't possibly convict ANYONE of the crime. The Italian "justice" system seems so screwed up too. Plus, personally, I don't think Amanda Knox did it.

I was over on that other thread and someone said , Amanda said she would comply with the law and return.

UR, it looks like something got filed today , do you have any clue?

No, I went and looked, just says Oral Argument, but it also has the denotation of ME which I think is Minute Entries. It may be something to do with a Daubert hearing in reference to this DV "expert" witness.

Here's an explanation of Daubert Hearing:

A Daubert Hearing is an evaluation by a trial judge on the admissibility of defined "expert," or scientific and technical, testimony and evidence. The Daubert Hearing is conducted out of the jury's presence and is usually based on a motion in limine, which occurs before the trial even begins and determines which evidence or testimony will be presented to the jury. It is most efficient if the Daubert motion take place after the discovery phase so the hearing is completed before the trial starts.

Then again it may have to do with this:

The Court has received and reviewed Defendants Motion for Protective Order.

IT IS ORDERED setting oral argument on Defendants motion for March 27, 2013 at 9:00 a.m. before the Honorable Joseph C. Welty.

Re: Amanda, if the first trial was flawed and the second trial was flawed, how after all this time can the third one be accurate? It defies reason. And they still have the man convicted of the murder in jail.

I fully admit what I know of this case came from the lifetime movie and the after show ;) and I am 60-40 leaning toward innocent. It is weird all around. They let her go and I think it should be over after 2 trials.
