Listening to the testimony of the man the other day she lived with for a few years(was that Darrell ?) at the end they asked him all these questions about their sexual life. Some questions were pretty freaky and they made it sound like he made] her do these things. So she stayed with him for 3 years..:confused3 Now they are trying to make it look like she didn't want to do sexual things with Travis. Thou doth protest too much!!!

Caught about two minutes of Jane Valez Mitchell before I had to turn it off. First, some expert on battered women (IMHO, it's an insult to battered women to call Jodi one!) said the reason she lies so much is because that's what battered women DO. (But but but...maybe she just lies because she's a L-I-A-R! No??) And a caller was saying that she agrees with Jane, that Jodi is coming off as very likable, and that this caller was riveted by her testimony. Did she mean the whole life story (Crayolas, spoons, and vampires, oh my!), or just today, with the BJs, etc? lol This caller needs to get out more.

Please please PLEASE tell me the jury isn't buying into this?!?!?!?!?

Just think, it only takes one juror who thinks that way for a hung jury.

Oh, I hope not!

And based on CA, we do know that there are crazy jurors out there. Here's hoping these jurors saw the uproar over the CA trial and decide to use some common sense. :rolleyes1

Today we should be hearing the recorded phone conversation. I wonder if one of the reasons the defense dragged out testimony was so the last thing the jury hears for the LONG weekend is Travis saying what he says on that tape. If the tape is how they're ending her testimony, they do not want the jury left with any cross examination by Martinez.

The common sense is in the pictures of the murder. Those are not self defense injuries. And it's going to be hard to explain the handy knife and gun in the bathroom, perfect for when showering Travis lunged at her for dropping the camera, causing her to fear for her life. So, he had to stable him 27 times in the back and slit his throat from ear to ear. Oh and shoot him in the head.

I'm not worried.

Just playing Devil's Advocate here:

Maybe she had her purse in the bathroom, we all know she loves make-up and the pistol was in her purse. And addressing her overkill on him, I agree with you, that's not self defense, but then again, that's not premeditation either and she's charged with premeditated murder in the 1st degree.

This defense team including the mitigation specialist are laying the foundation for Battered Woman Syndrome which entails much more than physical abuse, wait til that "expert" gets on the stand.

Jodi had no self defense wounds. She has a gun and a knife right there. If she was attacked where are her wounds? She said he never hit her. So all of a sudden you just know you need all these weapons? She was fully dressed at the time of the murder. Just hours after the murder she went and had sex with someone else? I think this jury is just listening with caution and noting all her inconsisentecies. She has no emotion. What 3 or 4 years later and still no remorse for what she did? She left all those other relationships she knew was wrong. But she couldn't leave Travis? This is just to spare her life.

Checking in - court should be starting soon, hopefully on time today. Hello everyone!

The defense said in opening statements that Travis used a knife to cut "soft" rope to use to tie her up because in the past she had gotten hurt with rougher rope (or something like that...can't keep track). They're setting the stage for there being a knife handy, and also how perverse  he was for tying her up.

I wouldn't be surprised if they claim that the gun was something HE had, that he had used as part of the whole perverse role playing. (Illegally purchased, no doubt, since it will not have been registered.) She'll deny to the ends of the earth that she stole the gun from her grandparents. They'll probably say that of course she knew where the gun was (on the bureau?) so that she could easily get it quickly. Perhaps after the initial attack, she ran off, Travis went after her, and she got the gun? Or maybe she was putting him out of his misery, like a dog. Ugh.

As an allegedly abused woman, she'll probably claim that, like a rape victim, she felt an overwhelming need to clean up, and therefore, had to get rid of all of the reminders of the whole terrible ordeal SHE went through...the indignities HE put her through over and over and over again (cuz apparently she never learned the word NO) and, you know, being forced to MURDER someone.

Link to the 3rd day of live blogging of her testimony is up in the First Post.

I saw a bunch of links to each day of the trial that I'll try to put up.

OMG, we don't really need to know her definition of grinding. I'm sure we can figure it out.

It's pretty obvious that he only wanted her for "sex" and nothing more.
He knew immediately she wasn't what he wanted to marry, she just scratched the itch, if you know what I mean.
She allowed this to go on.

She didn't try to get him to know her first, she gave it to him almost immediately.
It set the pattern for their relationship.

He didn't deserve the brutal death he received.
Bottom line.

So, she was nothing more then a booty call to him. She got used. Happens to a lot of women.

Doesn't make him a controlling, abusive, horrible person though.

Exactly!!!!
He is a dog for that.......
But still didn't deserve to die.

Let's just HOPE the jury is seeing it this way. The commentators on InSession make me nervous with some of their opinions. I just can't imagine seeing it as anything but what you described.

Poor Mr Martinez, won't be able to cross examine her till next week.

She had feelings for him, felt used but still stayed. She had a choice. So being tied up still had a choice not to engage. She kept returning of her own free will. There was no gun held to her head to stay in any relationship with him, even when she was a long distance away from him.

She was longing for the lifestyle she thought he could provide her.
