Jobs-what job wouldn't you do

I would do any job to feed and shelter my family. No job is beneath me. I would not do a job that was illegal or immoral IMHO.

I understand what you're saying, you want to take care of your family. But there are jobs that I don't consider beneath me, I just wouldn't be able to perform them because of fears or phobias. I'm scared to death of open heights, hence, even if I had the knowledge to paint a bridge & had a multitude of rigs to hold me up there, my legs wouldn't support me, they'd turn to jello. I wouldn't even make it out of the truck once I got on the bridge.

I'm not too good for any job, there is just a lot I wouldn't want.

Fast food- been there done that in high school. I always smelled like fry oil and got treated like junk and hit on by mgrs for $5/hr, no thank you.

Anything dealing with bodily fluids. I hate the sight of blood.

Daycare/school- I love my kids, couldn't handle them times 10, lol.

About anything on Dirty Jobs would also be a no no.

I prefer a job where I sit on my butt behind a desk in a/c and type, answer the phone, and do paperwork which is what I've done for 13yrs now. I also didn't mind working at the mall back in the day.

I wouldn't want to have to make everyone on the Disboards agree on one thing - impossible! :rotfl:

I, too, have seriously considered crime-scene cleanup. And there is one school in the area that offers an A.S. in mortuary science...I gave that a great deal of thought, but I really would be no good trying to upsell funeral services to the grief-stricken. I just want to deal with the bodies. I can just see me talking to them, like Duckie on NCIS.

I have a criminal justice degree - too many field trips to the morgue, I guess!

At my age, heavy lifting and too much time on my feet are not a good thing. Other than that, I'd do pretty much anything. I'm not particularly squimish, although I find hospitals really depressing.

That being said, I couldn't do anything involving heights or bugs.

I would never take a job that involves heights! i am so amazed at those construction workers running around on the tops of buildings. it just scares the heck out of me!

The absolute worst job I ever had (and my parents are still rolling their eyes that I resigned) was being the post "master" of a US post office.

OMG! NEVER again.

I couldn't sell anything where I get commission. I hate to force myself on people!

There are a lot of jobs that I would prefer to never have to do. There are probably a lot that no one would let me do (medicine anyone? OMG, I'd be so horrible in this field). But, the one job that I would turn down at any cost would be a job that involved driving (delivery of any kind, escort, etc...not talking driving to/from work). I am the worst driver in the world and would probably wind up dead and possibly killing a lot of innocent bystanders. I don't know why I am so horrible at it, but I just am. My 18 year old daughter drives better than me.

I was once pulled over by a cop who said he thought I looked like I was trying to evade him. While I kept quiet, the truth was, I didn't even see him, let alone try to evade him. :lmao:

My sense of direction is horrible too. Actually, I have no sense of direction whatsoever and can lost just about anywhere.

Crime scene cleanup.

I could so do that.

I don't think I could do anything dealing with human manure, although animals would be no problem since I grew up on a farm dealing with it. I watch females pee in cups daily as a probation officer, so no big deal with that.

I couldn't be an embalmer, and probably not a medical care provider. I could never cut into someone's body. I couldn't be a nurse because I don't think I could put up with bad (complaining) patients.

I could not ever in a billion years teach preschool or kindergarten. <<shudder>> that would be torture!

Ditto. There are many things I would prefer not to do or have any natural talent at, but would do my darnest if necessary. I've always said that I could be the person with the pooper scooper following the horses in the parade and I would do it with style and personality!

Yard work, I refuse to do it at home, I will certainly not do it for others.
Runway model, I'm 5'3", it's not going to happen.
Bus driver, public transport or school.
Animal shelter or veterinarian, or like positions, I would be too sad.

But, if it comes between me and my family eating or not, there's very little I wouldn't do, illegal or not.

Just about the only thing I wouldn't do is work in fashion. I'm no fashionista and can't stand most people of that type. Other than that.. I'm game for anything. Right now I'm working on my masters in microbiology and virology, so I get to play with bodily fluids all the time.

Although I'm not getting my masters in either microbiology or virology, I love that kind of stuff too! I take a lot of my science classes for fun and a lot of people don't understand that.

The anti-fashion thing does not compute with me though :) I love fashion!
