Jingle Bell Jingle BAM Show at DHS with Dessert Party Details POST 8

I'm hoping to read some reviews from people who haven't been to the Star Wars show/party, as most of what I've read so far are comparisons to the SW event, which I haven't done. I'd like to hear how this event stands in its own. Also going to give it a few weeks to work out kinks before I decide to cancel or not.

If anyone here is attending the dessert party on Sunday night and see a mom and daughter bundled up please don't laugh at us :) our first real cold front is that day and we're not used to the cold

How cold will it be? I moved to Austin, Texas from Ohio and the temperature here has dropped to low 70s and I've been giving the side eye to all the people in coats and winter boots.

Question. My husband and I are going to Disney December 18th - 27th. Neither one of us eats desert. Can you still see the Jingle Bell, Jingle BAM! without going to the desert party? Is the desert party like priority seating? Thanks

We did - and I agree with @DoughR - the glasses were fun!

The show was sweet and fun with some neat effects. But completely opposite the Star Wars show in many ways. I don't think it's even fair to compare them. The story line is thin, but it isn't supposed to be a movie - just a fun entertaining show. Good for some warm holiday fuzzies and feels. Just don't go into it thinking SW caliber...or being bitter that it replaced SW...because it won't reach that bar.

Thank you for responding to my question. We haven't seen SWaGS yet (hoping to in January though) so won't have anything to compare it to at the time. I'll keep my eye on the reviews and will decide next month if we're going to keep our res.

I tried to quote a couple of posts but am having trouble with my resort wifi. Just wanted to say I got a beer from the Brown Derby bar and found a decent spot to watch the show about 15 minutes before it started last night. No way would I wait 2 hours! (Or pay for a dessert party just for the viewing). I was in the center, at the back of the front section. There was space available and I could see the front and the right screen well, the left side not as well but many things were the same on the two sides.

I thought it was cute and in the holiday spirit, but mid-Nov is too early for me to think about Christmas and I would have preferred Star Wars but thems the breaks

Yes, the show is open to anyone. The dessert party just gives you a reserved viewing area (in addition to the food and drinks).

Sorry if this was discussed earlier in the thread but I couldn't find it. When the show was announced it was scheduled for 6:45PM every night of my trip and of course I was annoyed because I already had ADRs or other plans every night at that time. HS had been scheduled to close at 7 so it looked like you'd have JBJB and then park close. Now it looks like HS park hours have changed for our nights to 9PM. And it looks like show times for next week are now 9PM. Any chance JBJB will be moved to 9PM now that the park closing has changed? I have been frantically trying to change by Ohana 6:45 ADR but maybe I will stop if it's possible JBJB will be later now.

When are you going? My reservation for next week has the party at 8, with show at 9.

Same here. We are going the night before Thanksgiving and the show is at 9. We are even considering doing Fantasmic at 7

I was there on Monday night for the first show and dessert party.

The dessert party was well-organized and there were more tables/seating than I expected. I liked the bread pudding and I sampled a few of the other treats -- they were all pretty good and festive, but honestly I had a full stomach going into the party so I didn't each much and I didn't try any of the savory options.

Drink-wise I tried the Gingerbread martini and the vanilla vodka drink with the cinnamon stick in it -- those were both good. The people around me were all loving the Gingerbread drink especially. I also had a beer toward the end of the party -- if I recall, they had Bud Light, Yuengling, and Angry Orchard on offer.

As for the special guest, I LOVE Santa Goofy, but I was a little disappointed to see it was him , given that you can meet him at MVMCP and at Animal Kingdom right now. It would have been more fun to have someone a little more exclusive (although I was NOT holding my breath for Sandy Claws -- I think people underestimate how difficult it is for Disney to cast actors for Jack Skellington!)

They gave out the "reindeer" 3-d glasses at the beginning of the party (these were silly but fun), and we were each given a wrapped gingerbread mouseketeer cookie as a parting gift.

Overall I think the dessert party was well-done and of good value.

The show itself...

I was a little underwhelmed, honestly. It was cute and there were some fun effects, but I was disappointed in how few fireworks there were (seriously! projection technology is neat and all but it is being used way too often as a cheap substitute for actual pyrotechnics! I am not a fan of this trend!) -- and I also don't understand the Oogie Boogie craze. Oogie Boogie does not say "Christmas" to me. I was here at Halloween time and he was everywhere -- which was fine, it was Halloween -- but it just seems lazy to use his theme in a Christmas show.

That said, it WAS enjoyable, it DID feel festive, and Hollywood Boulevard was beautifully decorated and it was "snowing" at the the end of the night. I got the warm-fuzzies, for sure. I'm happy I saw JBJB, but I don't see myself bothering with it again.

(And since people are comparing it to SWaGS, I'll throw in my two cents. I'm not really a big Star Wars fan, but for me this new show doesn't even come close to matching SWaGS as an experience. But what I really miss is Symphony in the Stars -- more actual fireworks, Disney, please!)

We are going from 12/8 to 12/11, and on the Friday and Saturday, 12/9-10, park closing has been moved to 9 instead of 7. JBJB is still on the schedule for 6:45 though. We have tickets for MVMCP on Friday, but I was hoping we could jet over to HS on Saturday night after CP at Epcot (we have a dining packaged for the 6:45 show) if JBJB was not until 9.

It is very unlikely that they will move it at this point.

I agree so much! Symphony in the Stars is the best fireworks show Disney has ever done IMO. SWaGS doesn't come close. Thanks for sharing your review! We'll probably keep our DP reservation but it is disappointing to hear that the show doesn't have many actual fireworks.
