I was there on Monday night for the first show and dessert party.
The dessert party was well-organized and there were more tables/seating than I expected. I liked the bread pudding and I sampled a few of the other treats -- they were all pretty good and festive, but honestly I had a full stomach going into the party so I didn't each much and I didn't try any of the savory options.
Drink-wise I tried the Gingerbread martini and the vanilla vodka drink with the cinnamon stick in it -- those were both good. The people around me were all loving the Gingerbread drink especially. I also had a beer toward the end of the party -- if I recall, they had Bud Light, Yuengling, and Angry Orchard on offer.
As for the special guest, I LOVE Santa Goofy, but I was a little disappointed to see it was him , given that you can meet him at
MVMCP and at Animal Kingdom right now. It would have been more fun to have someone a little more exclusive (although I was NOT holding my breath for Sandy Claws -- I think people underestimate how difficult it is for Disney to cast actors for Jack Skellington!)
They gave out the "reindeer" 3-d glasses at the beginning of the party (these were silly but fun), and we were each given a wrapped gingerbread mouseketeer cookie as a parting gift.
Overall I think the dessert party was well-done and of good value.
The show itself...
I was a little underwhelmed, honestly. It was cute and there were some fun effects, but I was disappointed in how few fireworks there were (seriously! projection technology is neat and all but it is being used way too often as a cheap substitute for actual pyrotechnics! I am not a fan of this trend!) -- and I also don't understand the Oogie Boogie craze. Oogie Boogie does not say "Christmas" to me. I was here at Halloween time and he was everywhere -- which was fine, it was Halloween -- but it just seems lazy to use his theme in a Christmas show.
That said, it WAS enjoyable, it DID feel festive, and Hollywood Boulevard was beautifully decorated and it was "snowing" at the the end of the night. I got the warm-fuzzies, for sure. I'm happy I saw JBJB, but I don't see myself bothering with it again.
(And since people are comparing it to SWaGS, I'll throw in my two cents. I'm not really a big Star Wars fan, but for me this new show doesn't even come close to matching SWaGS as an experience. But what I really miss is Symphony in the Stars -- more actual fireworks, Disney, please!)
