Jingle Bell Jingle BAM Show at DHS with Dessert Party Details POST 8

If you attend the the dessert party are you guaranteed a good viewing spot or is it a struggle to get viewing. We are planning to go to the party but only so we don't have to get a viewing spot hours before the show.

you have a large area reserved for the dessert party people. Inside said area there are some spots better than others but everyone in there will have some of the best views. Some peoople choose to leave the dessert party early to grab a spot closest to the rope and the center of Hollywood Blvd.
This show, same as SWaGS, needs to be viewed from Centerstage, and all good spots in the general viewing area are taken an hour and a half to two hours before

To the bolded
-And then some people complained about the SWaGS and OUAT having no story
- I completely agree, they had a lot of side fireworks but not as many of the bigger ones behind Chinese Theater
-I think in the Prep and Landing short they don't show his face either, like Wilson from Home Improvement

I wouldn't knock this show out if you only saw it on video. The sound was better live and you can obviously see everything when you are there and not just what the camera is taping, like I said the side fireworks, also light effects on the sides and the snoap with the lasers give it a shimmering effect.
It is slow in parts and I wish that we didn't have the Nightmare segment in favor for more traditional Disney holiday scenes.
,
this show and dessert party has been promised to my son, so it would have to really bomb (along the lines of the jungle book show) for me to consider giving it up. He was really looking forward to star wars but was ok with christmas and I bought him the prep and landing shorts on DVD and he has been watching them over and over for a while (has seen them about 5 times now). I'm glad for your comments though having seen it live. A light, fun little christmas story is just fine with me... it doesn't have to be moby dick for me to enjoy it. Of course more fireworks is good, I love fireworks, but this is our first nighttime show so I think having the show with less fireworks first is ok. It's a very different kind of show than any other too I think with the lasers and projections figuring so heavily in. They have figured out a way to minimize their pyro budget but still provide a long enough entertaining show and yeah of course I wish they went all out for an Illuminations or Wishes caliber show but this thing is temporary... and like I said, as long as it is not a major bomb a la Jungle Book I'm fine with that.

The dessert party offerings seem ok to me. I do not like mint IN things, so the frozen thing is of no interest, but I don't mind a little crushed candy cane on something or bark... and the savory offerings sound really good to me. I do wish they had some fruit but I guess it is not really the season either for the really good melon and winter fruits are harder to not brown. We also have lunch at 1:30 or 2:30 (haven't decided yet which time would be better) so it's unlikely we'll get our money's worth on food volume. Kiddo will be thrilled with cupcakes, that warm chocolate cake and ice cream and the rice krispie treat bonbons... krispie treats are a rare treat for him here and it is one thing he really looks forward to at Disney. Hot cocoa is great for him since we don't do soda (I don't like it and never exposed it to him and now the bubbles freak him out majorly due to sensory issues) and would be limited to water at the other dessert parties (do they have milk with all of those desserts? that he'd drink). The grownup drinks sound great to me too, I love angry orchard and I feel like one of those with some savories and then the gingerbread martini with desserts and maybe fill a souvenir thermal cup with some hot cocoa and a shot of whipped cream vodka to stand and watch the fireworks and I'd get my moneys worth lol.

So overall even though it isn't a grand slam home run I am glad we are doing it. Looking forward to your review as well since you have so much context to compare it to (dessert party I mean).

Does anyone know if Disney will do anything to accommodate you if you are going with a big group? @FastPasser ? A big group from our thread is going on 12/3. I guess we will try to meet up outside but not sure if Disney will do anything to help us stay together during the dessert party if we have around 20 or 30 people (I am guesstimating, we need to take a head count and also see if anyone drops after the reviews). Since we are not a true group who has booked together and is touring together it may be a no-go and we get that. Just figured I could ask :)

they give you a return time so you don't have to wait. 70 minutes was the wait time
honestly I wish they did this with all characters. my kiddo is on the spectrum and he wants to see nick and judy... character waits are the hardest as they are the slow moving queues. This would be a game changer for me, but it might make other lines that much longer elsewhere in the parks if all of the character m&g didn't have people waiting for them.

This is actually a REALLY good idea for Disney to consider.

One thing is for sure. If a guest is standing in line waiting for a character M&G, then they ARE NOT spending money. It would make sense to place M&Gs near shops/souvenir stands. While guests are waiting for their return time they *might* be more likely to make an impulse buy. I would compare this to The Cracker Barrell business model. I've checked in at the podium and noticed many open tables but they still say it will be a 5-10 minute wait. Which, in my view is an attempt to give me an opportunity to buy something from their gift shop.

I suggest that the entire group, or at least a good portion of it, check-in as soon as the podium opens so that it can be towards the front of the entry Que. That way you'll get the pick of the tables when the venue opens.
Do we know what time we can check in? For our date the show is at 6:45, party is supposed to be from 5:45... thanks! :)

The reviews really have me questioning if I should keep our party reservation. It will be DS(17) and myself and he might enjoy Club Villain more. What to do???

Does the Great Movie Ride shut down for the dessert party (since it kind of takes over the entrance)? If so, about when is the latest you can get into the ride?

GMR does not shut down early. Guest go through the side door closer to the exit

Thanks everyone for posting reviews and pictures! I went ahead and canceled our dessert party this morning. We don't know (or care to know) about Prep and Landing, and Nightmare Before Christmas is our least favorite thing... :duck:I was underwhelmed by the videos, I know it's sure to be better live, but I just don't think we will super enjoy it. It's been years since we've been able to see F! so I think we will be happy with doing that instead.

Club Villain is universally reviewed as the best premium experience at WDW. I don't think you can really compare. The only thing that I'd wonder is the cost and having an underage disney adult who can't drink... but if you are ok with that... people LOVE club villain!

I'm not sure if this is allowed, but if anyone decides to cancel their 12/2 ADR, please let me know. My mom decided to join us and I need an extra seat.

Thanks for the review and pictures, @yulilin3! Looking forward to this on our December trip! We will definitely follow your advice and be in line early!

@MommaBerd did you happen to notice what time they escorted you to the viewing area?

I'm fairly certain it was about 6:30-ish because it caught me off guard. We were some of the last to leave and I hadn't even finished my food (had been helping my youngest with things). We also didn't check in until about 6:50 - so the time flew by. (I thought I had left BCR with plenty of time, but boat took a LONG time.)

So, follow @yulilin3 's advice and get there early- the party was probably half full when we got there.
