Obviously a runner!

Wow, Jeff, that article about Gladys has me inspired! I showed to to my 91y/o Mom and she passed out reading it!

Thanks for your pics.

Jim, hope those insersts are just the thing for you. Yeah, about learning what you should not do in the training seminar. Pretty scary stuff for sure. Ya gotta be thinking all the time. Wait, you know how to do that, you're a marathoner, biker, FD dude and all that!

Tracy, hope you're enjoying your weekend. I know you have to be you're in Mickey land!

Got in my 8 shoddy miles today, but it's done. Next week 20 and hen Taper!

Jeff: thanks for sharing the photos and I love the new haircut!! Very nice!

-Tracy

Thanks for the photos, Jeff!

Jim--hope you are healing. From my stress fracture this fall, I have sympathy for you! WOW, was it awful trying to heal.

BUT, heal I did! In fact, I PRd a 10k this morning! SO HAPPY!

Sadly, I am out of the Goofy. 6 weeks off from training just a month or two before marathon week-end, and I don't have the distance. I haven't decided if I am going down just for the Half or not yet.

Keep going, Warriors!

Chester Scott earned his Marathon Maniac status with back to back weekend marathons. His time was 5:49:42. He re-fueled at our clinic's tent, and then headed back out to bring Tracy in. At last check she was past the 30K mark. :cool1:

Hello Warriors, back from Disney World and mood has gotten a bit better. Loved the Candlelight Processional and the telling of the Christmas Story. The narrator was Andy Garcia and I like his reading. Inspirational!

Erika: :cool1::thumbsup2:cheer2: CONGRATULATIONS on the PR for the 10K!!
And now sorry to hear that you are going to be unable to do the Goofy!. You can come and join me for the Half if you like. I am just hoping to do 2:45 which for you might be a bit slow - hahahaha! Come on down and do the Half and hang with your fellow Warriors and WiSHers!!

Jeff: I am soooo glad to call you friend and now I want to grow up and be like you (in terms of speed, that is :lmao:). Congratulations to you on your "training" run!

OK time to collect the missing Warriors out there and you know who you are!
I have gone over the spreadsheet and I know I am missing stuff, so here are the Warriors that I am missing information from:

AUGUST:
Marcie - both times and miles

SEPTEMBER:
Marcie - both times and miles
Jeff Morse - both times and miles

OCTOBER:
Marcie - both times and miles
Jen - both
Roxanne - both
Stacy M. - both
Jeff M. - both

NOVEMBER:
Marcie - both
Jen - both
Roxanne - both
Stacey M. -both

Ok so that is where we are at, I would like to get caught up so we can see where we stand.

Thanks everyone!:grouphug:

Sadly Gladys Burill (91 year old) did not finish this year. I suppose the heat was too much for her once the sun came out.

She made it through 21.1K with a time of 4:56:38.

Mr. & Mrs. Incredible, aka Chester and Tracy completed the Honolulu Marathon.

Tracy came in a little after 4 pm.

See folks, Honolulu has the most generous time limit, and no sweepers. You can continue racing until the last person finishes. People will still be finishing later on tonight, between 10 pm and midnight! At least it's cool again now that the sun has set.

Enjoy the rest of your stay you two, you deserve it!

Jim really hope your foot holds up, sounds like your training has been intense with work. Scary stuff.

Sarah way to go getting Sasha fit! What a fantastic achievement and something to be very proud of. Well done on the workouts too.

Tracy really thrilled that you had a great time- did you sort the room out by the way? You totally deserved a fantabulous time.

Jeff Massive, huge, giant congratulations!!!! That was a great time and with cramp too is just eye watering!

Erika so sorry you're not going to make goofy, but absolutely have all my fingers and toes crossed that you'll make it for the half.

Lily what's with the 'shoddy 8 miles', that is a great workout and in prep for 20miler is fantastic.

Me did 16.83 miles..... all outside... all at once on saturday! (actually had to stop once to stretch my calf but lets forget that!). Took 2hrs 28mins and it wasn't quite as sore as i expected! Ok i might be able to do this. If aim for 18.5miles this weekend, 20 next then week taper i'll be ready :rotfl::lmao::rotfl2: Running lesson on thursday was 4 miles of tempo and mile warm up/cool either side. It's so good having someone push you. This morning was a gym cycle! Done

I stand corrected...

The last finisher came in shortly after 7 pm. Much earlier than in the last few years.

Japanese runner is last to finish

One of the nice things about the Honolulu Marathon is that race officials wait until all the runners finish and credit them with a time. Totaro Ito of Iseshi, Japan, is glad they do.

The 77-year-old did not set any records after his time of 14 hours, 20 minutes, 4 seconds was officially recorded, making him the last one to cross the finish line long after the sun had set on Kapiolani Park.

Of the 23,469 who entered the 26.2-mile run, 20,609 showed up yesterday morning to compete in the race, and 20,321 finished it.

"We always have a high number of people complete this race," Honolulu Marathon spokesman Pat Bigold said last night. "Not all of the marathons wait until the last person finishes, but we do. We also give certificates and their time for each person who crosses the finish line."

Sad that Gladys did not finish. Still amazing that she did as well as she did. I am in awe.

OK, Jeff, it really is interesting with the very long time opportunity to finish the marathon.

Is that the "medal" Chester has around his neck in the pic with you?

Tracy, glad WDW got you to feeling better.

Busy time here in life, and trying to keep up is always interesting now.

Lily,

The shell lei everyone gets right after the finish line. You then have to walk 1/4 mile into Kapiolani Park to pick up you "medal" (keychain) and finisher's shirt. What I do is clip the keychain to the lei. See link below with pictures.

Thanks everyone for your congratulatory comments.

Jeff: Congrats on your marathon! Too bad about not making the sub-4:00 goal, but I'm still in awe of your time!

Kate: Yay for your almost 17 mile run! It must feel so good to be back into things, after the tough autumn you had with your shin problems!

Tracy: I loved all of your photo updates from The World over the weekend! I was green! Hope things are going better for you, hun!

Erika: Too bad about the Goofy. I hope you can make it down for the half, or even just to hang out with the WISHers! I'm going to be SUPER SLOW for the half, so if you're looking for a buddy....

As for me, I'm off the wagon BIG TIME this month. Life has been crazy busy, and I just haven't been feeling very well. I was off my training entirely last week, and planned to get back into it this week, but I came down with a bad cold on Sunday. Let me say that cold + morning (all day) sickness is no fun! I spent all of yesterday in bed, but am feeling a bit better today. Hopefully my Thursday run will happen as planned!

Saturday was the Girls on the Run 5K.... it was so much fun watching my 14 little girls finish their first 5K! They were all so excited, and so proud of themselves at the finish! Several girls told me that they are coming back for the spring season, and can't wait to see me again.... so I guess I'll be doing the head coach gig again in March! :goodvibes And then Sunday was the Seattle Jingle Bell Run 5K. I was feeling really wiped, but James and I finally did decide to get out of bed and go, and we were both really glad that we did. The event was huge... 11 500 were pre-registered, and the Arthritis Foundation director estimates that the race day number was close to 20 000. That many people on a 5K route, all with jingle bells on their shoes.... equals fun. It was really a good time, with groups of people spontaneously breaking into Christmas songs along the way. We were in an untimed wave, but estimate that our time was about 36:00. Not fast by any stretch of the imagination, but the route was PACKED and everyone was just there for a good time. :wizard:

We're also registered for the 12K's of Christmas on Sunday, so at least I'm guaranteed one long-ish run this week!

Sarah, glad you are getting out there. I love the name of the event-12ks of Christmas. Clever. Hope your morning (all day) sickness clears up soon. That is so fun also to hear that your young gals did enjoy the 5k and that some will return.

Jeff, thanks for the info, I think. I tried to click on the link but it comes up page not found. I'll go hunting.

Tracy I sent you a message with updated miles for October and November. I will have to catch up later with everyone. Take care Warriors. Safe and Happy training to you all.:thumbsup2

Nothing new, just looking to see here.

Still hoping I'll get outside for my 20 miler this weekend. I think it will work, cold, no, freezing, but outside nonetheless.

Thanks Roxy for checking in. I had a few others that checked in, but am still missing a few peeps times and miles.

Kate: Thanks for letting me vent across the Atlantic Ocean. Your words were healing and helped me a lot. Thanks for being my sounding board. Can't wait to meet up!

I want to thank all my Wonderful Walt's Warriors for being a great and supportive team. You all have been inspirational and we have pretty much stuck together the entire year. :grouphug:

I know a lot of us have our "long" miles coming up this weekend to get prepared for WDW Marathon weekend. I know we can do this and I am looking forward to hearing everyone's stories about the races. Keep up the training and in no time we will all be together soon. Don't forget our informal gathering before the WISH meet. Friday at 4pm in the lobby of Pop Century right across from the checkin area!

-Tracy

Kate: Have you tried jogging or walking in a swimming pool? Takes the pressure off your legs. You won't be as tired. Also check out your local Y to see if they have pre-natal exercise classes. Usually they have it in a pool.

Well, 8 days until Santa arrives, and the same day we hop our flight to WDW. Is it time to go yet??? :rotfl2:
