Congratulations Sarah!!

Tracy - 86.5 miles / 19:15:00 for November. Thank you!

Once I get off work today, I'm headed home to pack for Vegas for my first full. If I don't post next week, you'll know I'm lost in the desert!
I know I am a bit late, but wanted to say to please have a great FIRST FULL MARATHON!! Enjoy every little moment and take it all in!! Good luck and let us know how you do!!:woohoo:

Love ya, Tracy

Hi, just checking in and putting us up at the top....who the heck cares what SFB thinks!!!

Love you Tracy, you're the best and don't forget that!

Love ya back Marcia!!! Love to all my Warriors and WISHer friends!! :grouphug:

Sarah massive, huge, enormous congratulations cuddle! Even though it's not a surprise, it's still the most exciting thing ever. Is there something in the Warrior waters?

Michelle hope your first full went really well- i'll be watching out for your report. Big whoop for you :cool1:

Erika so good to see you, you're doing fantastically.

Me i had a bit of a random run today. Knew i had to do 15 miles, which is 3 laps of a route i often do (just once though ususally!). Got to the middle of 2nd lap and the downhills were painful. Sooo decided it was best to stop than risk too much soreness. Got to my car and was cross with myself- as my car was at the gym.... yeah you know where this is going.... i went in and finished off the last 5 on a treadmill. Needed the flat. Was ok i guess.

Had the best day shopping with a friend i went to uni with yesterday- all 6 hours of it! Wonderful with mulled wine and everything. Perhaps that took it's toll, but wouldn't change it for the world :)

Happy new week

ALERT, ALERT!!!

Michelle our fellow warrior has completed her first FULL MARATHON!!!! WHoo hoo:woohoo:

CONGRATULATIONS!!!!

:cheer2: :cool1: :woohoo: :grouphug: Michelle  :woohoo: :cool1: :cheer2:

I got out for the clinic's final talk, followed by a short 8 mile taper run.

Well the other advance members decided to gallop the run. We were at 8 minute miles, and sub 8 at the sprint to the finish line.

Good rehearsal for next weeks training run.

Michelle: Congrats on your first marathon! WOOHOO!!!! :woohoo:

Kate: Ohhh, the car at the gym is very dangerous. Congrats on finishing your 15 miles, though. Hope everything is feeling better soon!

Tracy: Yay on your Jingle Bell Jog! I love holiday themed races! The Arthritis Foundation's Jingle Bell Run is next Sunday in Seattle and they give out bells to pin to your shoes. So much fun!

As for me.... ugh. Worst run ever. I did my 20 miler today and I got it done, but it was so awful. First, the temperature was hovering around freezing all day today, so it was quite chilly. I dressed in semi-warm layers (running tights, a t-shirt, and a long-sleeve thermal top) and this would have been fine if I was running the 20 miles. However, with my new run 3 minutes/walk 2 minutes pace, it meant that I was FREEZING for the last three hours of the run. I need to invest in a pair of gloves to wear when I run, because I couldn't feel my hands at all by the time I got home. Also, I felt fine until I got to about 16 miles, but then started to feel weak and dizzy. I was taking Gu every 45 minutes like I normally do on long runs, but I think that with my body dedicating so much energy to my future little Epcot addict, the Gu just wasn't enough to keep me going. The fact that my body had to work harder just to keep warm probably didn't help, either. Also, I'm finding that I'm getting out of breath quicker (which is so weird - I never would have expected to be this impacted this quickly, this early in my pregnancy!), but it also meant that I was sucking in more cold air.... equaling cold-burned lungs by the end. *sigh*

Alright, I am done my complaining. I am so proud that I got my 20 mile run done, but I don't think I'm going to do another one before Marathon Weekend. So, looks like it's going to be tapering from now on, for me!

14.85 in 2:32 today.

If my freakin' foot holds together I should be ok, but I am still planning on 2-3 more LR's prior to Mickey. No problem stamina-wise, but due to the nagging PF issue, I have been stretching out the miles slooooooooowly.

But, unfortunately, time is growing short. Tape, Ice, Tylenol, meloxicam & an occasional other pain aid are my new best friends. Oh, & a lot of stretching and massaging.

I am going to be cutting down the number of days running, while increasing the number of miles on the days I am running. Hopefully it will all work out. :thumbsup2:thumbsup2

Congrats to Sarah on the Bun in the Oven & to Michelle for you rfist Marathon. WTG Ladies!!!

Hey there Warriors!

Sarah, congratulations! You have some fantastic news. Seems like you are a fertile couple for sure if things went quicker than expected. Sorry about your 20-miler. I think you are right about all the adjustments your body was handling. Hope all goes smoothly and that January will be a fun event for you. Lots of photo ops will keep your pace where it should be...slower.

Kate, good for you for guilting yourself into putting in those steps. Whateve it takes. It's done.

Jim, sounds like you've got a good plan and hope it works now that the time is drawing near. You definitely do not need to risk injury.

Jeff, you are jus amazingly fast. I am in awe.

Michelle, congratulations on your first full! Way to go. Sorry I missed seeing you in LV.

Tracy, I want to add my thanks to you for all you do here. You are a great caring person and I'm glad you are with us.

I had a great LV event and a PR. I am definitely a cold weather participant. Praying for cooler weather at Disney in January. I think we're due for it to be a bit cooler on the weekend. Not the rest of the time. Just the weekend. One more LR then let the taper madness begin.

Jim - take care of those feet. I have had PF in both feet and know what a pain it can be!!! I found the early morning stretches to be important even before taking that first step out of bed. I still do it most days. I use a tennis ball or a golf ball and roll it under the midfoot, heel area to stretch it out.

Lily - :cool1::thumbsup2 on that PR!! You go girl!! I am soooo proud of you.

AFM: I have had a not so great early morning, as you all can see that I am up very early. Been up since about 2am. Got a not so great email and really without going into too much personal stuff - I got a "Dear Jane" letter. I could go on, but really what's the use? Plus, not really the place to do it. I just wish people would not play with other peoples emotions. Just not right in my book.

Anyways, On I go as I have a 4 miler tonight - should be interesting.

Take care Warriors!!

Tracy

Jim - Not to go against the motivation thread or the cvoice in your head, but sometimes rest is our friend. DH and I have only had 1 year out of 4 that we finished both the 18 and 20 milers. I believe dh missed both 2 years ago due ot a shin splint stress fracture scare. He was fine come marathon. Please don't push those feet too hard!

Sarah - Even if you weren't pg, I'd tell you that Goofy is abotu finishing, not pace. As you are, what the heck are you thinking worrying about pace??? (Yelled at you in teh kindest way possible. :goodvibes) Huge congrats!!! Now take it easy on teh course!

Kate - Love teh sound of your shopping day!!!

Michelle - CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!!! :banana::banana::banana:

Tracy - :grouphug::hug::goodvibes

Jeff - Good luck in Honolulu! Say hi to the Scotts from me!

Marcia - Hope your trianing's going ok!

Lily - More huge congrats on your PR! You are an amazing woman!!!!!

Erika - Good ot see you!

My 18-miler: It had snowed big time Thursday night. 5" on the ground. not your typical fist snow. We decided just to tough it out and run at home. We had tickets fro SInging CHristmas Tree (amazing) Saturday night and no time to travel anyway. We even decided not to put a car in town for backup. I have teh hardest time ever with the 18-milers adn decided that having a car in town was plannign to fail. At 1 point, I ws so proud of myself. I was doing pretty well and had gone through really tough path conditions and was thrilled I was going to make it. Then I realized I had only done 5 miles and had quite a bit to go. I did keep my "I WILL make it" attitude though and was happy to finish. Time was awful, but for teh conditions, I am just happy we finished.

Last night, the path had melted so we tried it. Shoudl haevknown better. Barely a half mile away when it turned to ice. Got in 2 miles. Unlike some, we just say we tried and don't change gears adn head to the gym. Bad us. It's dh's fault. ;)

31 days 'til Pop meet!

Michelle, congratulations on marathon #1. How are you walking? Ready to sign up for your next? Oh yeah, Goofy's next.

Thanks Lily. Still not as fast as the BQ'ers in my group. Sad thing is, they're all older than me. :rotfl2:

Carrie, I talked to Chester yesterday when they arrived. I'm meeting them during my lunch tomorrow to hit the expo and pick up our bibs and goodie bags.

Friday I'll be showing them around at the USS Arizona Memorial, and then taking them to my clinic's carb load dinner at the doc's house. Olympic medalist Frank Shorter is typically there. (LOL: as I type this, Chester just called me on the phone. How's that for timing!).

Anywho, I went for my last 8 1/4 mile run before Sunday. Yeah, I'm taking a taper day off on Thursday, call me a slacker.

Temps were cool this morning, about 60 degrees at 5:30 am at my house on the mountain. I'd say it was about 80 at high noon. Very little wind, which I'm hoping will be stronger tradewinds on Sunday.

If you watched the news today, the Eddie Aikau big surf contest went off at Waimea Bay. Huge 25-40 foot waves being surfed by the professionals. It's held only during perfect conditions, and the last time it was held was 2004. The crowds up there on the North Shore have been crazy all week. Traffic is horrendous for 4 days.

Greg Long was the winner. $55K.

I'll post photos from the expo tomorrow.

Hi everyone! Thank you all for such great support!

I myself, was quite disappointed. The bottom of both of my feet blistered up around mile 13. So, yes, that means I spent the next 13 hobbling. I had pretty much given up all hope of finishing about mile 16 when I started seeing the sweepers. By mile 20, I was almost wishing they would pick me up I was hurting so bad. But by mile 23, my mindset changed. There was NO WAY they were going to pick me up now. I had not hobbled that far to not finish. There was an awesome race official who was helping break down aid stations. He asked if I was ok to which I of course said "NO!" But instead of asking if I wanted to quit, he told me I had come so far and to keep going. So I did...and he checked on me everytime he saw me. Right after mile 24, the sweepers had gotten very close. So I sucked it up and started to jog. Up over the stupid overpass that was at mile 25 too! After that I was all tears as all I wanted to do was finish. Right before the mile 26 marker was my favorite race official. He told me I had done great, that I was home free and that was the last time I had to see him. If I would have had the time, I would have stopped to give him a hug! The last .2 was all a blur due to all the wonderful people I had waiting at the end for me! They all cheered me in and greeted me with huge hugs! It was awesome! My first thought...NEVER again! My second...crap, I'm signed up for Goofy.

Michelle, I had no idea it was that tough. :hugs: You will now do wonderfully at Goofy though! Take care of those blister issues. Sorry about that. Hope you can figure that out somehow. You are one tough lady gutting it out like that. That Goofy medal is yours!

Got in Pilates, and a Kirby Dog walk. Will do bicycle tonight and call it done.

Jeff, so cool you are having a mini WISH meet.

Tracy, sorry about things going on in your life. I can't change things, but can offer to you to just keep moving forward. PD that you can let go of the bad things.

Carrie, Congratulations that you managed to get out in it and get those 18 miles done! Egad on the icy conditions and 2 miles in that. Glad that you made it.

Met up with Chester & Lynn Scott from WISH. Got them set up with their bibs that I registered them for. I got them the "Kamaaina" (local) rate of $30.

Chester did last Sunday's Las Vegas marathon in just under 6 hours, and doesn't appear to be hobbling or waddling at all. Marathon Maniac status here he comes!

I took them shopping during my lunch time. They said they'd find lunch and a way back to Waikiki on their own. Will take them out sightseeing on Friday morning and evening (furlough day).

I forgot to mention, Sandra (Roadbunner) is also returning home to do the race. She PM'd me last night, but not sure we'll meet up while she's here.

No wonder Mickey's smiling!

Happy Wednesday Warriors!!!

Not much to report here. I have not run since my last LR. Trying to take it easy on the foot, plus I am at a "How to not be a Stupid Firefighter & die on the Job" conference in Orlando. So there is no real temptation to push the issue.

I am trying to be real careful on my foot (in fact I am typing this with my foot resting in a bucket of ice. Just because I can & have nothing else to do sitting in a 10th floor hotel room, that's why :rotfl: ) & don't think it will be an issue come race time. Hopefully. Funny thing, it really does not bother me that bad WHEN I run, but an hour AFTERWARDS is another story.

I may go out on a short run tomorrow just to keep the legs working a bit, bit I Promise not to overdo it.

And I am learning some really scary stuff this week. Almost enough to make me look for another job. Not really, but still eye opening. :scared1::scared1::scared1::scared1::scared1:

Hey Warriors...
How is everyone doing? How is the training coming along. I know you all are working hard and WILL get this done. January and the Half and Full are right around the corner!!

Jeff: Nice work there helping out Chester and Tracy. Nice photos. I also want to thank you again for being a thoughtful and caring friend. I truely appreciate all that you do for me!!

Jim: You are getting some scary stuff huh? Yes the PF is worst in the morning and after you have sat or laid done for some time. While your up walking and running it usually didn't bother me much. Keep up with taking it easy.

AFM: Still in a funk. I had even forgotten to pack for Walt Disney World and I am leaving tomorrow after work. Will be back Sunday afternoon. Just a quick trip with Mom. I hope I remembered all that I needed to pack and really don't care at this point if I did. Just want to get OUT and GO SOMEPLACE ELSE and what better place that Disney to loose myself in even if for awhile.

Good Training everyone!

Tracy

Tracy: Hope your trip to WDW will help take your mind off of everything that's going on. Enjoy the holiday decorations and have a great time!

Jim: Nice work on taking it easy. I hope the hotel washes that ice bucket before the next guest! ;) I can only imagine how scary the firefighter version of workplace safety is!

Jeff: Love the photos! Have a great time this weekend!

Lily: Congrats on your PR! It's amazing what great (well, cool and dry!) weather can do for your times!

Michelle: YIKES! My feet hurt just reading that! Have you had blister problems before, or did it just come out of the blue? I never have problems with blisters, but now you have me all paranoid for the Goofy!

Carrie: Stay warm! Good job on your 18 miles, though, even if it was painful! And thanks for the pep talk on time goals for the Goofy! I think my problem is that I *can* run faster (and have been all through my training!), even though I know that I now *shouldn't*. And it's just a matter of having those two things connect in my mind. Of course, I know that it's not worth putting my baby's health at risk just to meet my time goals! I'm going to finish and it's going to be awesome, and that's all that matters!

As for me, I've been taking it easy this week after my 20 mile nordic trek on Sunday. I've been doing a lot of walking with our new German Shepherd, Sasha - I'm trying to get her up to running shape by the time I start training for my next marathon (hahahahahahahahahahaha! I'm signed up for it, but I'll be 34 weeks pregnant by the time it rolls around, so the chances of it actually happening are very slim. I may walk the half marathon.... we'll see as it gets closer). She's already lost a little bit of weight in the almost one month that we've had her, so we're very proud of her!

It's also been FRIGID, by Seattle standards. The temperature has been hovering around 25* for the last few days, which has made it hard to get out of the house. I know, I know, 25* is balmy compared to a lot of the continent right now, but Seattle doesn't see a lot of cold! I had to turn on the heat for the first time since we moved to this apartment almost two years ago! :rotfl:

2.7 slow miles yesterday in 26:35, followed by massage, ice, tape. Then the same this morning.

I ordered some bulletproof insoles last month. Hopefully they will get here before I die of old age. Hoping they will help.
