Jingle all the way to the end of 2009 Warriors!!

Happy Thursday Warrioirs!!

A fun filled overcast day in NE Florida for me. While the rest of the world is freezing their behinds off, I am working out in a short sleeve shirt & shorts!!

I was able to grind out 16.5 miles yesterday in 3 hours. Not the pace I was looking for (close, but not quite there), but in my defense I was distracted by a dog that would not quit following me & my stupid iPhone going off. Next time, it stays home.

It was not pretty, but it's in the bank. I seem to dvelope on awful tightening in my hips that I cannot get rid of. If anyone has any ideas, send 'em my way. I am making a conscious effort to stretch more (mostly because of the foot), but I just do not seem to be able to get to the pieces that cause me the pain in my hips.

Did an 11 mile bike ride today in 43 minutes to work out yesterday's kinks.

T-minus 24 days and counting.................... :scared1::scared1::scared1::scared1::scared1:

JIm - Where in your hips? DO you have a beginner's/gentle stretching yoga class available to you? Firend with wii fit +? I have found gate adn warrior poses to be very good for my hips. Yoga in general tends to be my lifeline.

Tracy -

Kate 0 Isecond teh pool work. I ttend to just run in the shallow end. I think it was Jan Benoit that I heard did ntothing but that to train for a marathon once. You can also by an aqua jogger to keep you upright so you can jog in teh deep end.

Trying to hydrate adn prep for tomorrow's run. Path's not in great shapp but a better cleared path is about 3.5 miles away. Will tough it out to that one and likely do 3 mile loops. Had much worse condidtions, that's for sure. Weather should nto bee too bad at least.

Good luck to all doing long runs/wwalks this weekend!

All right Warriors...
3 weeks from today some of us will be walking around with our Donald medals, some getting ready for the Mickey medal and some just being Goofy!!! (you goofy people are just plain crazy)

Got up this morning after it has been raining here for a day and a half. Many places in the area were flooded and people were getting around in boats. Not too bad in my area just had to be careful with the driving around as to not slide off the roads.
This morning I met a friend from another running group to do some miles at a park in the area. I had a great time and we got our 4 miles in. Was nice to finally train with someone else as I usually do it by myself.

How is everyone doing?? Hopefully trying to stay healthy. stay safe all you guys in the wintery white stuff!!!

Have a good Saturday everyone. I am off to steam clean carpets (does that count as cross-training? hehe:lmao:)

Tracy you are extremely welcome- i mean it, any time. Really pleased you had a great social run, sometimes having company makes so much difference. Just wait til there are thousands of people around you in a couple of weeks!!!

Jim you're doing so well keeping up all of this training- you are inspiring. I'm slightly concerned by the temps over there tho having just run through a snow blizzard over here.

Carrie hope your run today went really well and thanks for pool running advice, i've never really done it and think i'm a bit self conscious to do it in our main pool. I can imagine looking like a stranded octopus, but you and Jeff and both right, i should try it.

Jeffi love that you're counting down- how many hours now?!?!

Hey Roxy!

Lily all the best for your 20miler, i'll be thinking of you

Sarah Thanks for the support! You are being so strong through nasty sickness, here's to it passing as soon as possible and massive kudos for completing a run, sometimes a fun run is way more exciting than a blast it out one. Very proud moment for you too watching your little ones. Good work.

Me I know i'm a week behind most of you guys, but did 18.4miles today. Got to around mile 7 and was hit by a snow blizzard so the rest of the run was slippy and a bit like running on sand! Finished but had to take a few walk breaks so took 2hrs 50mins (i think, Garmin got LOST for a couple of miles in the middle!).

Ummm my mum hasn't done any walking in prep for the 5k, please tell me they won't sweep us!!!!

It's a happy pre-christmas weekend!!! :woohoo:

Kate, and everyone else...

19 days to the 5K, 20 days to the half marathon, 21 days to the full. Get your Ears In Gear!!!

This month's (January, 2010 issue) Runner's World magazine has a 2 page article on pool running. Page 30-31.

Hi Warriors,

Sorry I have been absent, but I've been busy with work and life....I'm glad everyone seems to be getting some kind of training in, I know it is hard with the weather these days. We have come this far, so keep your eye on the prize!

See everyone in a less than 3 short weeks!

The last Honolulu Marathon Clinic meeting and run, followed by the bragathon picnic. 8 1/4 miles followed by lunch in the sun.

Nice photos Jeff!

I got my last long run in yesterday and it is taper time!!! whoo hooo! I can finally enjoy the Holiday Day festivities!

See you next week!

Since I am playing bike paramedic for the 1/2 & running the full, I decided to bike yesterday (17 miles in 1:07) & do a LR today (19.4 miles in 3:40). The last hour of my run was U.G.L.Y.!!!!!! I completely ran out of gas in the lsat hour, which was really disappointing. I hoping it was because I just did not fuel up enough during the middle portion of the run. I won't go into how keeeeeerappy I felt, but it's knowledge in the bank. It would be nice if the Mickey went by a McDonald's or 2. An Egg McMuffin at the 19 mile mark sounds rally good right now!!:rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:

I'm gonna' put this in as my last REAL LR prior to the Mickey. I need to baby the %**%^ out of my foot. Short runs, bike rides & swimming till then.

Good Morning Warriors.

Just wanted to WISH my Warrior Family a Merry Christmas :littleangel:. Have a wonderful and glorious day. I hope Santa will be good to you and you get all that you want for the holiday!:grouphug:

Be safe out there and can't wait to see all of you in January!

-Tracy

Merry Christmas to you all :goodvibes

Merry Christmas Warriors!

Hope everyone is enjoying the holiday.

Jeff, nice pics!

Be careful, we'er almost there.

Merry Christmas Warriors!

The great taper begins! Only 2 short weeks and a couple of days before we get this all over with!

I only have a 12 miler this weekend and the last 8 miler before I leave for WDW!

I hope you received everything on your Santa list this morning. Wishing you and your family a very Merry Christmas!

Cheers ~

Hi All,
just popped over to see what is going on.

Jim, the marathon does go right past McDonald's around mile 19.2. Just run through the drive through and you are all set. Your wish is granted!:yay:
Duane

Hi Duane!! :wave2: Thanks for stopping by.

OK Warriors, but this time on two weeks we will all be walking around with our Donald's, Mickey's and/or Goofys!!! What an accomplishment!! All the hours and steps will be soooooo worth it!!

Don't forget our little meet before the meet! :grouphug:

Also I am not sure what is happening with the teams next year. Let me know what you all think.

-Racey Tracy

Whoo hooo! Not long now! I'm beginning to sort out my things for packing. Must get my list together.

Jeff, glad you made it safely and I just know you are having fun!

Duane, Hmmm a real McDonalds run!

Next year. It is nice to have folks to chat with. I'm good with sticking together or combining with others. Whatever is easiest.

Jeff I'm so jealous- can we have a weather report please? It looks a bit sunny to me!

Hope you guys all had a great Christmas- mine was wonderful, but extremely hectic having an extra family to visit for my boyfriend. Wouldn't change it for the world tho.

AND.... yesterday I got the 20miles in!!! it took 3hrs 4mins so I am officially in taper (a week late- but i got there). Thanks so much for all of your support everyone, it's meant a lot. If i make it through the mickey and have that medal around my neck a heck of a lot of that will be down to you!

I'm still up for teams- love catching up with people.

Hey there, Warriors!

Hope everyone had a fantastic holiday, and is looking forward to that little event we have coming up in 10 days! :rotfl: I got back from a week in frosty Calgary on Saturday - had a wonderful holiday with my family, but I barely got outside at all as it was SO COLD! It was dipping down to -10* F at night, so much colder than I'm used to! My only activity all week was walking around a mall!

I did get in a 8.5 mile run, yesterday. It was supposed to be 10 miles but.... I accidentally did the wrong loop, thinking it was my 10 mile one. :confused3 It wasn't bad as far as how I felt during the run, but the temperature dropped from 55* to 42* during the two hours I was out there, leaving me a bit chilled and unseasonal in my running skirt! Brrrr! I did learn, however, that I will chafe in my running skirt if I get all goosebumpy, so that is a good lesson for marathon weekend, depending on how this weather thing goes!

Just thinking back to last year, and at this point last year I had just dislocated a bone in my foot and was currently walking (limping? hobbling?) around Las Vegas with it still dislocated. It did end up popping back into place within a few days, but it was still sore by the time marathon weekend came around, and I ended up spraining that ankle during the HM because I was favoring the outside of my foot. I still finished, but YOWCH! :scared1: Anyway, it makes me feel better to think that I still finished the HM last year under those conditions, so the Goofy should be easy this year! :rotfl:

I'm doing the crazy amount of laundry from our trip to Calgary, and I'm going to sort and fold directly into my suitcase for WDW! I don't usually pack more than a day or two early, but I'm so excited this year!
